Lfo automatable too...and the osc wavedraw and shape selection. In fact I'd have to check (on iPhone now) but I think anything you can wiggle or select will automate on those pages. Slick is the word, for sure.
FYI: https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/13706/modstep-video-contest-win-a-korg-volca-sample-a-meeblip-anode-and-a-collection-of-apps#latest
Hey everybody, we just published the update to modstep 1.1.1!
This is the changelog:
-Fixed an issue that could lead to IAA apps stopping playback after a while.
-Fixed a bug that would make it impossible to change the recording status after loading / creating a session.
-Fixed a bug that could lead to automations being deleted when recording.
-the ADSR Pickers on the Sampler & Synth can now be recorded and automated again.
-iOS 7 support is back (we recommend updating to iOS 9)
-IAA apps that are not currently loaded are shown with a grey icon again.
-Added the possibility to start & stop the selected clip via the clip button in the main menu bar. To access the quick access window to jump to different clips, a long tap is required.
-A track that is being soloed will not send a global note-off upon soloing anymore.
-Added new Templates for Korg Gadgets (thanks @gonekrazy3000 !), Novation Circuit, Moog Model 15, Shoom and Korg Volca FM
Nice! Seems we need to re-install to see some of the new patches though? I'm not too keen on doing that, but would really like to get my hands on some of them and they're not showing.
Quick question do you have access to AU presets
Hey guys,
we just found a tiny bug that prevents copying of the new templates after the update was installed. We'll upload a fix today so it will hopefully be available in the next days. So there is three options:
juniorpops: Yes - there is a dropdown menu in the AU windows that let you choose a preset.
@cblomert , what about AU FX , Remaster I am trying to see its presets
Still not able to turn off autoloading off iaa devices, if i have a bigger project it will break before it even loaded because the ram will run out
Hi, @cblomert, @Nerk_, and everyone else! Freshreg here in hopes not to be necroposting.
First off, let me start by saying THANK YOU for everything you've put into Modstep so far. You've got a very powerful application here! Having used it for a while, I'm really glad to see its continuous improvement; especially thanks for including a feature I requested via the contact form @ modstep.net some time ago (MIDI-mappable tempo nudge). It's nice to see you actively communicate in this forum, too. I know you're busy!!
Having said that, and having read through the latest manual as well as this entire thread to make sure I'm at grips with everything, I do have some feedback I hope you find useful:
1) Based on your response to @Wally (Apr 21), I understand your decision to completely separate the Drum/Melody modes. That said, I would very much appreciate the ability to import MIDI in the Drum mode. Perhaps the file's channel information could be used to determine which mode the notes should be imported to?
2) Please consider adding a MIDI-mappable Tap button to the Tempo settings. I may have already requested this via the contact form before and would love to understand your view/challenges of adding such functionality.
3) I still get an occasional "pre-sequencer" hanging note when using an external MIDI controller in v1.1.1 (iPad Air 2 w/ iConnectAudio4+, DIN input). No idea why, and I haven't noticed this issue with other apps. As others have indicated herein (see @Wally 's post from May 2), please see whether you're able to reproduce/address.
Thanks again for everything!

Yes, this one is a biggie. I've had to de-install IAA apps and go through other gymnastics in order to recover from just such a situation more than once. Hopefully fixing that little button is on the priority list for the next update. I've reported that bug directly on their site.
"Autostart plugins" or "Load last session on start up"?
The following is true for the newest beta (that is in beta as of today when this latest updated version went live) but I think it's true of the newest release: if you have "Load last session on start up" selected when you save your latest project, but you have de-selected "Autostart Plugins", your project will load without Modstep opening each plug for you. (The plugs will be sleeping). What I've been doing is leaving both options off, so Modstep opens empty every time. That works in the new release version...
It's probably staring me in the face, but where is "Load last session on start up"?
Open settings (gear icon upper right main page), on that page, in left column, under "General Settings", 5th setting down from the top...
Nope. Not in the latest release:

The good news is, it's there and working nicely in this beta.
Yep, that is good news. And not surprising. Those guys are good at hammering out the issues once identified. It's academic for me since I prefer not to load any IAAs or AUx in ModStep, but great to know for all those who do.
True that. Have you checked out their Touchable app? It's a monster.
How are y'all using modstep without opening apps in it? Just sending midi out? I'm Trying to set that up but haven't got it yet.
Yep just point it to the instrument and its assigned midi channel.
How do you handle Muting/Unmuting apps connected from MIDI OUT in ModStep?
In my case I'm using ModStep + Patterning and when I hit mute on Patterning's channel in ModStep it still sounds. Which I guess is pretty obvious, but I'm quite unsavvy with MIDI and all that.
The mute button inside modstep only works when you host apps inside modstep. What most of us that use modstep only for midi do is host the apps inside AUM. And use the mutes, solos inside that app. Myself I actually midi learn most of Aums controls like track volumes, mutes and solos on an external controller like my Remote Zero SL so I barely ever keep AUM selected and only run it in the background of modstep.
Touchable is fantastic. I gave away Push when I found it, and have never repented.
@zarv
Same here in reverse, had Live, got Touchable (1st version) at some point, for some odd reason I deleted Live, forgot Touchable...
Years later installed Live again...started looking at Push 2, thought I'd save money with a used Push 1...remembered I had Touchable (now, the amazing 3): big smile
Felt like I'd found a long lost bag of money, or magic beans...
(And being a greedy cuss, started thinking about Touchable features I'd love to see in Modstep)
Touchable is really amazing when you are a Live user. It does so much so well. I am overjoyed with it...
Hi there, I downloaded Modstep last week and so far I'm impressed. However, where are the choke groups for the sampler? I've read where you guys refer to the sampler as being built like a drum sampler. Am I just not seeing the choke groups? It's hard to imagine a drum sampler without them as they are necessary for things like Hi hats
So is it there or can we get it soon?
Upgrading sampler channel with audio loop like garageband live loops, loopy or simply launchpad app could be great. I was doing some test with triggering loops from regular one and it could do the trick but is far than perfect solution.
Transpose midi and audio selectable by group could make this app the perfect for backing tracks controlled by bass foot pedal (just sayin'...)
Yup, audio looper and "play next scene" function and Modstep goes to a whole nuther level for live players.
Even though I really like Modstep, I am not impressed with their customer support. I emailed the developers of Modstep about a problem I am having with Modstep a couple of weeks ago and they haven't bothered replying back.
I was thinking of buying it myself, but this thread has not had any updates from the developers and you not getting a reply has put me off a bit !!
I've had issues with modulation on my air 1. It works, but once you test it, more than 5 AU's it stops recording modulation (chokes). I love modstep but looks like I need to buy a new iPad Pro to use it.
