Ruismaker - AU Drum Synthesizer
Wow, just saw that!

Looks nice but the appstore link doesn't seem to work. How much is it?
Can't find it on the App Store.
I have no idea. I think it's to be released...must...have...patience...!
Seems to live in Cubasis? (At least in the website image.)
Yep, an AU plugin for AUM and Cubasis and Garageband, per its Facebook page.
Sounds:

Me likey
Well well...
Looks like we have another 'hard to resist' purchase waiting just around the corner
So far we have: ielectribe, seekbeats, impaktor, elastic drums, stroke machine, Tokyo, dm2, attack, ....nah, I think I'm going to pass.
Ah wait, did you say it is AU...mmmm, tell me more!
Is there preset selecting thru program change ?...Sounds good indeed...
I thought my last drum app was my last drum app...
It's Never over. (thank god) : n )
okay,i'm interested. And since it's the first of it's kind (AU drumsynth) i guess i'll buy it nonetheless.
AU= instant buy... For now at least.
No automation = no purchase, sorry
According to the developer it's expected the second half of June
The second half of June is arguably, like, now. LET'S GO, RUISMAKER-MAKERS!
Oh Bram Bos is back! I'd so like to see tuareg 2 ported to iOS. That would be great.
I might buy it just for that clap.
So many immature perverted responses to this post................
I hear you.
Only thing is, I would like to have 1 AU drum app.
I am attempting to minimize the amount of apps used and save CPU.
As you mentioned, they are alot alike(synth drums). That's why IF IF IF it is lower CPU and gives same sounds, it is a net gain for me.
That is for today anyway. I have the ideas I ideally would use and those I actually do.
The distance between these 2 points HAS greatly lesson due to LINK and Audio Units.
Just me tho bro.
One way to minimize CPU/ram use is to dedicate 3 (or more) loops in loopy to different percussive instruments. I.e. kick drum loop, hihat loop and snare loop. Then you can mute and unmute different parts for dramatic effect. I also found dedicating one track in Samplr to 8 or more percussive hits gives great results in arp mode.
This will not replace a fully fledged drum synth but does for a pretty powerful cheat. Run those tracks through Turnado's dictator and you're in groove heaven!
Of course it helps if loopy is already in your chain.
I thought I'd share a little update since you stumbled over my site before I've actually launched Ruismaker (you guys are fast!).
I'm still testing and fixing some bugs here and there, but I'm aiming for mid/end of June launch.
Regarding automation; that's a tricky subject. It's basically out of my hands because that's something the hosts must support. To facilitate automation as much as possible Ruismaker supports AU parameters and full MIDI CC control (typically an AU only listens to AU parameters, but I noticed that in Cubase you can send, record and automate CC messages, so that is a workaround for now). Having said that, in every host out there it's implemented rather half-baked. But I suppose that's a chicken-egg issue. I am in contact with Steinberg, and I fully trust they will implement proper automation in a future update. Otherwise there's not much point in supporting Audio Units in the first place.
Here's some demo sounds I made today. Everything is straight out of Ruismaker, no additional editing, effects or post-production. Not even normalization or whatever. The basslines are done using toms. Ruismaker toms are different in the sense that they are optimized for percussive basslines instead of more traditional toms. They are also chromatically tuneable to make that easier.
Sounds great! Sequenced in Cubasis?
Jisses, considering this will be AU and I'm a huge Cubasis fan this will be just amazing!
@brambos cheers looks cool
I've been less interested in drum machines that aren't part of gadget or the drummer in GarageBand as of late, but this sounds really good and the AU implementation lets it integrate better into setups, so I'm looking forward to this!
sounds terrific! if this exposes its parameters to AUM in the same way that isem and voyager do then that is entirely perfect and will be an instabuy for me
Sounds really good !
Any chance to have patterns loaded using program change also ? Also Link and Audiobus, and it's an instant buy...
Thanks !
Welcome to the forum @brambos!
When I suggested automation I actually meant for the app itself to record its own knob movements rather than responding to data from the host. Would that be easier to implement?
I expect that would require further development of the sequencer to record and playback continuous midi data as opposed to only note messages.
This often overlooked feature makes IMO a huge difference to the expressiveness of a drum box.
Anyhow, good luck with the launch and here's to hoping in automation making it into the next version of the app. Cheers
Given that it's an AU plugin, I'm not sure it's likely to have Link or AB functionality.
Hey @brambos , This is Sean Ercanbrack who worked with you with samples and beta testing back in the Tunafish days! I moved to iOS devices and haven't been as involved in the Windows realm. I'm glad to see you coming over to the iOS realm!! I'm looking forward to Ruismaker!!
