@Kaikoo2 just forget the MIDI version by now, it's an odd error and we will have a look at it.
But it's working perfectly with the normal IAA version, even receiving MIDI notes. I think there was no sound
because on first opening VoxSyn gives an alert dialog to warn for audio feedback if no headphones are used.
And this dialog has to be touched away to get audio working :-)
@sirdavidabraham we're working on AU versions of all our Apps.
@CalCutta Tera patches import is already possible as a "hidden" feature already ;-) You can use iTunes file sharing to copy a Tera patch file to the VoxSyn App. But there will be a more comfortable method in an update later.
VirSyn, thank you.
I have the first 'music' selected on iaa fx. The sound coming through now without AB.
Great news, both of these. Looks like I will be completing my collection of VirSyn apps this weekend.
+1
This is an excellent vocoder. I own six hardware ones to process drums with. This may be the most adventurous of all. Worth the purchase x10.
Feedback is pretty much the enemy of all vocoders. Headphones only for now!
Well done! Your best product to date.
Wow nice this Tera VoxSyn feature
Just commenting on some insanity I just experienced. I have two ipads running voxsyn right now. The first one is taking the mic signal and running into the second one via an interface. The signal from the second one is coming out of my speakers and feeding back into the first. Due to pitch variation in patches, the aliens are speaking with me now. What should I tell them?
@virsyn,
Somehow the effects 'on and off' button behind the IAA panel.
Can we have a different location for the panel?
Thank you.
Awesome thanks!!!
Impactor into Voxsyn.
I really like VIRSYN apps, but I don't know if I really need another vocoder. I already have iVoxel, the vocoder in SynthQ, and Sparkle.
What to do? What to do?
First World Problems...
Day has been made!!
@FlightManual ...this is what i meant with very low latency in processing ;-)
@Kaikoo2 you can hide the IAA window by swiping up on the text "Inter-app audio" then the switches are accessible again. Will try to find a better placement though.
@JeffChasteen once you have it you'll know that you really needed it ;-)
Hello, my name is decibelle, and I'm an audio app addict.
Please help me turn away from apps I don't need,
Make more use of apps I have,
And have the wisdom to keep on doing that.
Next time.
Wow, this is great! Gonna buy VoxSyn today!
so to confirm, did you say that it is possible to run loops through the app?
also does VirSyn have a bundle for their apps?
Not sure if iOS Vox Unit does that
The desktop version demo has some interesting moments in it
All Virsyn apps are very good soft instruments. I'm glad they are looking into changing them into AU units. Would like them to add Link too.
Ya got me!
Done.
I own and enjoy most of the Virsyn apps, so will probably pick this one up as well. But I am not sure the difference between this an iVoxel in practice.
My understanding of VoxSyn is:
a) I pick a TERA synth preset
b) I sing into the app
c) The app detects pitch and envelope, and uses to play the synth preset at right pitch, applying appropriate formant filters given spoken sound
Would this sound different than playing TERA through Audiobus to iVoxel and singing the same part, or even just speaking the part if TERA synth provides pitched notes?
Just curious! Thanks.
Yes, it is possible to run drum loops through Voxsyn. When I first got the app I was using it as a standalone and the "Help" didn't mention anything about inputs other than the mic. It works fine in AB. Sorry for the confusion.
We like "comfortable methods" methinks!
thanks Nez, probably will pick this up then.
Creepy intro video.
I would like to hear some more demos of this one.
It would be interesting to hear the results of some non-vocal sources. (guitar especially!)
I'm interested in this one too, but am wondering does it really bring anything new to the table, beyond what ivoxel and Harmony voice (which is great, but unreliable, in my experience) currently do ? The video demo doesn't convince me, as such.
I'm a big fan of vocoders, particularly favouring NI's mighty 'Razor' vocoder on the desktop.
frankly... I found all vocoder apps I listened to rather crappy (including iVoxel, let alone Voice Synth...)
that's why I stick with Spark as a non-vocoder if sound is intended to go into that direction
(and some smooth emulations of analog vocoders on a Creamware system)
just listened to the new one a couple of minutes ago
verdict: another fail
many demo sounds are heavily polished by effects
those that are dry sound weak at best, with severe cutting of highs...
cheers, Tom
I'm really torn on this one. Don't need anymore vocoders and barely even use the ones I already have. But, I do happen to dig the sounds coming out of these demos. On the fence...
Had to get it, though I had my doubts. But: this thing seems to do what I was looking for (though not being able to put it into words...): beautiful, kind-of-randomishly harmonizing with nice overtones. Always had my hiccups with vocoders, I believe, because of the necessary preparations, always killed my "muse".
I think I love this, thank you, Virsyn!!
