lol, somehow i'm not surprised at all that you voted for the brexit.
Is there a "hold" toggle button on the Play screen? I don't see one in the screenshots. I suppose you could accomplished the same thing using another app like Navichord as the control surface for VoxSyn right?
@VirSyn small feature request : would you consider adding a wet/dry control on the edit page to enable mixing of the input and effected sound?
no hold button at the moment, but plan to integrate one together with some chord features.
interesting idea...
...will try and hear
seconded. Annoys me when vocoders don't incorporate a dry mix
don't understand this hex keyboard at all
If you haven't watched the soundtestroom video on this app, do. It pretty much sold me hook line and sinker. This will be my first vocoder app, I have no idea how I am going to use it yet but it sounds awesome and has 600 presets. I was making buzzy mouth sounds and going through the presets making sweet lead type sounds. Hell you can even tap the mic to get some cool plucks. This is all coming from someone who has never used a vocoder mind you but I'm pretty impressed.
Awesome thanks!
for us the big plus was to have all pitches on one page, the yellow disk showing in realtime the detected pitch of your voice is therefore always visible.
The "musical" rationale behind this layout is described here:

@VirSyn thanks for the update which now enables direct import of presets from Tera Synth. Works a treat - awesome
+1
I found that this doesn't work very well on my iPad2, tons of crackling. I know, I know, I need to upgrade and this is not a critique of the app at all, just maybe a warning to other cheapskates/late adopters. It works just perfectly on my iPhone 5S, so I'll mostly be doing things on that device and sending them to my iPad or iMac for further usage.
Spent a little while with a microphone finally plugged in rather than using the internal. Huge difference (for me). I know this sound is somewhat marginalized, but the app is a great evocation of the sound and for those of us who like words a fine challenge to try and come up with something new therein etc. Good work developer.
I got a new Shure interface with convenient lightning cable, why am I still shrieking into the built-in microphone.
Hey guys, I bought this as i heard Daft Punk used a vocoder for that classic robovoice used in 'harder, better, faster. ' etc...
Also the intro voice used in Tupac's 'California Love'.
But what I'm hearing through a lot of the presets is mostly a lot of alien-sounding or results.
Can I achieve those robotic style voices I'm after or do I have a completely botched understanding of what a vocoder generally is!!?
Cheers!
@SkillipEvolver VoxSyn is more than capable. Stick with it and try triggering with MIDI
Tips welcome! ;-)
Maybe I'll look on YouTube.
Hey is there an AudioBus user forum soundcloud or YouTube account out there? somewhere where ppl can demo their creations?

Awesome! Thanks!
I was on the fence, but after seeing the big soundtest video from @thesoundtestroom (thanks Doug) it looks like just the vocoder app i've always been looking for. I have several other apps (iVoxel, improVox, Harmony Voice) but I've never really used them since I didn't take the time to learn them - but VoxSyn is so straight forward, just plugin and play - and it sounds great!
The effect used in California Love was from a Talkbox by Roger Troutman, the Talkbox Master.
For the record (the one I alone am keeping
) I am enjoying the felicity of this thing...
I can't seem to get midi input to work with my microKEY Air (BT midi)
Any ideas?
Update: connected the keyboard via Gadget instead of via Settings->Bluetooth, that did the trick.
I come back to this app after a month gap... It's still a bit of a mystery to me how to achieve that CaliforniaLove Talkbox sound.
The most obvious difference to me is that the sound changes pitch drastically after periods of time by default. So the initial idea of just singing a line exactly how you heard it (eg the start of CaliforniaLove) just won't happen.
What can I do about that? Tips anyone? I've tried YouTube and can't find many tutorials..
I found a video of some great vocoder styles over the years.
To be able to create some of these would be amazing.
This definitely seems to be something of an art!
HISTORY

I've used the 'random dice' feature about a hundred times but unfortunately I'm not coming up with anything close.
Most things it generates sound quite muffled, I'm looking for something with the clarity of this kind of sound :
**I CAN MAKE YOU DANCE **

I love the wobble, the electronic sound.
And another I LOVE,

**KLEER - TONIGHT **
You can set it to just make your voice robot like without pitch correction right? Is it "follow voice pitch" in settings? Still have yet to spend some quality time with it
Yes there is that option, but it's not really as simple as that to create a robotic voice IMO.
Had a look for alternative vocoders: found fairly interesting one on YouTube called pocket Talkbox.
Seems to nail the sound effects, but I don't know if it can record or multi-app, or anything. I think it might be intended as just a messaround app.
