I've loaded older projects, switched to Madrid, and everything seems okay.
a way that works for me is to disable midi sync completely. Loop a segment in gadget that i want to record into. use ableton link with step poly arp. and press the notes just before the segment starts again. Step poly arp having link doesnt actually start sending notes till the start of the phrase and they seem to be pretty spot on in gadgets pianoroll. i've also done the same routing with modstep sending chords to step poly arp. once again no midi sync.
its a bit more tedious this way since yo uhave to wait for the phrase to start again but atleast the notes are in perfect time.
Jn2002dk saying MusicStudio not Midi Studio Pro.
I am intend to do some XY pads Midi CC for Gadgets. It seems obvious Midi Studio Pro has the best 'multi frame' for including so many XY pads in a single page. It has no midi clock; just do all notes on Gadget, then let MSPro do the Midi CC by hands when Gadget in recording looping state.
The problem of MSPro is it got no preset export to save your page design and share it with others. Very unfortunate.
Thanks a lot man.
Here is the trailer for the new Gadget:
And Kamata has its own site:

Madrid is glorious when you use and external keyboard with a pitch bend wheel and a sustain pedal. I'm quite surprised by the sounds it can generate. i might actually replace some of my Bass guitar libraries in Kontakt with this D=
+1
How's the Triton expansion in Module? I'm thinking about purchasing it for the Glasgow gadget. How does it compare to the Marseille gadget? I'm thinking both are probably based on the same samples sets that korg used on Trinity and Triton. Does it add anything Marseille don't already do? And are there 100 actual real, different, presets? Or more like a handful or two and a bunch of variations/combis?
To my ears Marseille sounds a bit 'muddier' compared to the Triton Expansion.
I think Doug mentioned that He would do a demo of the Triton pack soonish...
If you like/love the 'Korg Sound' you can't go wrong with it.
As always it's a 'Best Of' compiled by someone else...
(Now if Korg ever puts out the content from the 'cheap' Triton Taktile Controller as an IAP for Module I'd buy that without hesitating. That's 500 sounds including some drum-kits).
There is quite a lot of variation within the 100 patches but some may use the same 'raw' waves with different filtering and effects which is quite common with romplers from that era...
Thanks. You know back when I had the Korg Trinity and a friend got the new Korg Triton (which used the same waveforms as the Trinity plus a few MB with new ones), I do remember thinking that the sound was quite a bit clearer and a bit brighter on the Triton. I'm not sure why, could've just been my imagination, or better internal components, EQing, and/or a better wave compression algorithms. On a completely unrelated note I gave that same dude a Juno 106, I cry every time I browse eBay
Yea I have a soft spot for that cheesy Korg workstation sound, mostly just from nostalgia rushes tho I guess. Oh well its only 10 bucks, I've paid more for rushes lol...
The iM1 also has a few IAPs for more patches that also include more samples from which patches can be created.
Would be foolish not to complete the collection as it after IAPs includes all commercial patches that were ever created for the M1 and T1/T3
WTF................
I've only just seen this thread!!!!
Ahhhh....
I need to go and hide in a room on my own and get downloading. And reading this thread.
Oh the iM1 IAPs were insta-purchases at release. I played around quite a lot with an M1 at a local school, back before I got a Trinity etc, it was hooked up to an Atari (Cubase I think, but can't remember really). Fun stuff. I do remember I always thought the 1 drum kit it had sucked (it really did, did anyone like it?:). I also thought that piano sound sucked. That very same piano sound that went on and became iconic. I still don't like it, I was shocked back when Gadget was first released and the M1 piano was the very first sound I got out of it. Anyways, other then that it's fantastic lol! :-)
If you haven't noticed already, if you hold down the yellow button on Kamata, it starts a game of Breakout, The Value knob moves the paddle.
It's knocks out the little squares from your Wave, so it's kind of a random way to program a new sound.
Does anyone else here wish that Audioshare was one of the export locations for exporting tracks?
Was wondering where you were Matt.
I've just used AudioCopy and paste into Audioshare. Not ideal, but it works.
Hahaha. That's how I felt last night, and I was only a few hours late to the news.
Ha. Late to the party .
I LOVE this update. (It almost makes up for Brexit )
Mostly for the FX...
No one is really talking about them but they really really move Gadget on.
I love the delay most of all so far (I've posted a demo on a new thread). It's seriously flexible stereo delay goodness. I'd also be interested to hear people's views on the new reverb effect. Better than the old one I think.
The fact one can so easily automate these insert FX too makes this so good. (The only thing I wish is that the insert FX could be midi assigned because they can be a bit fiddly - and it would be great to midi control them in a live situation). (I wonder if the new Korg nanostudio controllers give any access to the FX).
Edit - the other brilliant thing about the effects is they free up effects inside the Gadgets. So you can mess with ring mod and the talk filter etc and no longer have to forgo basic things like delay or a filter. So good.
I've decided to wait for now on Madrid and the acoustic drum Gadget. I don't use acoustic bass much in my music and with the drums I just wonder if I couldn't just use acoustic samples bought into Bilbao if I ever needed that kind of sound. But I can see if you make more acoustic style music that these new Gadgets would be great.
However, Kamata .... Wow again. This really brings something new I think. It's capable of a very nice, rich digital sound I think. And the scope for easily modulating the timbre of the sound via the wave table is lovely. I want to go and play more with this now - sending it into a nice big reverb!
I figured I would ask these Gadget questions here rather than clog up the forum with yet another Gadget thread. I'm thinking about buying it but the LE version has not been able to answer my questions (I know that my LE version can't do the following, but I want to know if the paid version can):
1) Can you use Gadget as an IAA/AudioBus sound source within AUM? I won't use Gadget's DAW capabilities, however I do want to be able to layer Gadget's instruments with my other apps within AUM.
2) Can you "record arm" multiple Gadget tracks at a time, such that I can have my MIDI keyboard playing both the Marseilles and Chiang Mai gadgets at once, for layering purposes?
Thanks!
I had originally thought that about the drums as well, in possibly just importing into Bilbao. But, I'm not a guy with hard drives full of samples, and to be totally honest, I'm just way too lazy to be bothered with all that work (not really "work", but you understand).
I bought Bilbao a long time ago, and have yet to really dig into it. Same with Abu Dhabi. I find the immediacy of the other Gadgets so alluring that I haven't had the desire to use those much yet.
But, as Gadget keeps getting better and better, I find myself moving almost exclusively towards using it for now. With that, I may be motivated to explore those gadgets much more fully.
tl;dr I love Gadget.
Yes to Audiobus, as a sound source. You can play several gadgets at once by engaging the advanced MIDI option in the settings. Then you simply select your midi controller's channel as the input for the Gadgets you want to layer. You will have to click them on individually. Its not hard at all. If you press record and then play, and play your midi controller, the midi will be recorded into the gadgets receiving midi. The thing that is slightly annoying is that if you want to switch to a whole different set of layers within the gadget project, you have to first turn off the midi receiving of the previous layers individually and then turn on the midi receiving of the newest layers individually. If you are not recording midi in gadget, but instead just getting the audio to somewhere else, you can of course simply switch the sounds out on the first layer.
TLDR It's easier to copy/paste midi if doing layering completely inside Gadget, imo.
Yep. Kymatic schemes keep my dreams from becoming a mess
I'd love to see all the main players incorporate AudioShare import/export as thoroughly as AB/IAA and Link.
And the Blocs export/copy in fixed bar lengths please....
Audioshare is but one of the many reasons I've been requesting iCloudDrive/iOS Document-Picker support for all of Gadgets import&export features over at the Korg Forums...
Good point. I just really don't like Audiocopy--but true, that should work. Thanks!
'AudioCopy SDK' reverts back to using general paste-board if AudioCopy.app is not installed.
I've noticed though that General Pasteboard can leave files behind in the 'compatible apps' folder in each source apps Documents folder?! So sometimes manual cleanup may be needed using iFunBox or similar tools.
Some 'older' apps using old version(s) of AudioCopy SDK use General Pasteboard as fall back.
So even if an app seems to do nothing when using the AudioCopy function it might have already copied the content to the general pasteboard...
Still I'd prefer to have 'Open In...' support for exports
I'm getting the cracking as well. IPad Air 1, current iOS.
Also, am I crazy or is there no "+" or "-" buttons to switch presets in Madrid? You have to select the drop down box to go from one to the next?
There is a 'rotary encoder' with the word 'sound' over it that can be used to change patches
I have the 'crackling' noise on the Module based Gadgets too when changing patches...
This could be some kind of side-effect from optimisation to enable after patch-changes?
I'm om iPad Air 2 64GB iOS9.3.2...
One work-around for Korg to fix this would be to mute the by fade out/in during patch-change.
(Old instrument fades out, new instrument fades in in ~0.5s to avoid clicks.).
Talking about Madrid, it has a feature I really hope will propagate to the other gadgets...
Press the up arrow and voila, the keys get longer and y-axis controls the velocity
I would also be nice if madrid had a way to 'slide' the pitch when sliding the finger over the onscreen-keys, as it is now it just re-triggers the notes, this would be one way to make the Fretless presets sound more natural
