  • I'm probably going to buy this before the price goes back up. So, should I get the effect IAPs too?

I like them so I'd say yes, but the decision is up to you :)

Lots of bang for the buck, but they're not great.

PS: Cubasis 2.0, however, is fantastic. If only for the corrected pinch and zoom! Gorgeous to work with, very intuitive.

Auria Pro may be more "Pro", but, Cubasis workflow and touch behavior is better than Auria Pro...
So, the answer is: buy Cubasis 2 - it's awesome!

  • In my perusals with them, I would say that the iap fx are better than they are usually given credit for.

It is quite possible that my inability to make them work well can be put down to user error.

I don't regret buying them at all. The thing I like most about Cubasis so far is the convenience of having everything I need handy. I might end up changing an FX out for something else, or eventually taking the project over to another DAW, but during composing, the less distractions the better.

[Edit] Besides, once you own Cubasis, you will realize the tremendous amount of work that must have gone into it, and will be tormented by guilt at having paid so little for it. This will ease your conscience. ;)

  • Just took the plunge, was going to ask about the iaps, so I'm glad it's being talked about here.

  • All in it is then, thanks!

  • Downloaded Phil Collins free midi Files from freemidi.org, loaded it up on Cubasis and it automatically created a midi track for each channel! Awesome!!!

This is a great way to also build your drum midi patterns for new song inspirations.

Goes nicely with that U2 album nobody asked for.

I prefer Phil Collins over U2 any day. I must be getting old haha...

  • You can get rid of that u2. Album google it. It almost freaked me out one day as it auto started playing the album when I was using my iPad as a sound module at church! Thank goodness I had it on a volume pedal and the music didn't go out the mains! But imagine it happened while playing?

The midis do sound amazing with Cubasis instruments and when used with Sample Tank 2 instruments as well. The drums in the Cubasis sampler are superb for this type of music. Check it out.

  • Mr Lars. Is there any way to turn off the L&R markers from automatically snapping to ends of a sample? I've tried the method suggested here, setting grid to off, but that hasn't worked. :'(

Check out a movie called 'Killing Bono.' It's a black comedy, based on something real. Superb.

Curious what the price difference is. Do you know how much they are regularly? appliced.co doesn't have the ability to track IAP prices.

    EDIT:
Nevermind, it's right in the appstore description. Regularly 6.99 each, the two FX packs are on sale for 3.99 each, so nearly a two for one!

  • $9.99 each I think at full price.

I have both packs, and they do a very good job. ISTR Doug also doing a major demo.

Makes me nervous also. A tad too long pressed and the locators are changed. Unfortunately undo does not work on the position of the locators.
I really like being able to change both locators with a long press but i would prefer a double tap for several reasons.

  • As a recovering appholic I didnt submit to buying Cubasis on the first days of the sale but instead, made a calendar reminder to tell me when the last day was. I gave it to my obsession last night.
After spending an evening with her I think we are going to have a nice relationship. A really intuitive app and I especially like the midi and automation editor, my favorite on iOS so far.
The thing that Im most pleased about is that the 32 bit version runs on my ipad mini. I started to get audio glitches after the fourth track with effects loaded but with a bit of care I think it will run very nicely on the mini as sketchpad. Thx Cubasis team.

  • I happened to have an iRig HD.

  • I'll take Phil too...as long as he's playing drums!

Yes, I've lost count of the number of times I've had to drag the locators out again, just so I can hear what I'm working on. As a 'feature' it's a nuisance.

@LFS and Cubasis team most likely has improved file-management on the back-log...
But I agree the lack of folders and multiple file-selection (for delete and copy operations) can be a pain.

If you have access to a computer on the same network enable wifi-drive and the 'web-ui' has options for selecting multiple files for deletion... I know bad work-around but at least it's temporary solution for housekeeping.

  • Thx samu i will try this

File / Folders would be very welcome. Even then somewhat simplistic but effective way AP approaches it would be a major step forward...

  • Samu, would it be possible to do this via opening a webpage and inserting the Webui address? Sort of like when one accesses the router at home to make changes. Sorry, have no idea what I'm talking about but just wondered. Thanks!
