Unfortunately no since the 'wifi-drive' in many apps (including Cubasis) is only active when the app is active in front.
If you switch to Safari on the iPad the wifi-drive is temporarily stopped...
But you can always use another iPad or iPhone on the same wifi-network to manage the files
Awesome! Samu, if its not too much to ask, could you do a simple wifi au access for idiots step list to be able to access those files from the iPhone? Thanks so much.
I have to stop digging up issues with my loved Cubasis but this one is too 'good' to let go.
It's not really a 'bug' just an observation and annoynance
If you import a zip-file with audio, midi or any supported format into Cubasis the zip-file is 'un-zipped' to the Cubasis root document folder and the content is then copied (not moved!) to the /'file-type'/User/ folder(s) and the original un-zipped folder including content is left at the 'root' level of Cubasis Documents folder!
Think about it. If you import a larger folder with samples the 'un-compressed' folder will remain at the Cubasis 'Root-Folder'(You can not see this folder in the Media Bay!). The files are then copied to the corresponding folders taking up double space since you can not easily delete the un-compressed folder...
There is no way in the Cubasis UI to delete this 'unzipped' folder. You need to either use the Wifi-Drive to delete the 'content'(Wifi-Drive does not allow deletion of folders!) or use iTunes or iFunBox to delete the Folder and Files.
I have a feeling @LFS and the Cubasis Team were just waiting for this 'issue' to surface if it hans't already...
I recall gaining tons of disk space once when I had to delete and reinstall Cubasis. Maybe i had imported so many samples that got duplicated. But then again I'm not really sure.
So this is probably a newbie question, but if I get the FX packs, can those effects be adjusted over the course of a track and cubasis will remember those changes as you play back the track? I believe this is called automation, but I didn't just want to ask if the FX packs can be automated in case I'm off base about that
I thought this was brought up already.... but yes every developer on earth please allow truncation of samples, deletions of copied data, erasure of sample packs etc.....please
Wow, thanks for catching this @Samu. This defeats the purpose of zipping files to save space. Does this happen if we import a file that is not zipped?
Zippednor unzipped I think
How do we bounce a track in place in Cub2? Say, a MIDI track I want to turn into an audio track?
Freze the midi-track, create a new audio-track, drag the frozen audio to the new track, unfreeze midi-track and delete it if not needed anymore.
I actually prefer this method as it makes it easier to create different variations based on the same midi-source.(add a few notes, freeze move the audio, un-freeze, edit, freeze again etc.)
Non-zipped files go directly to the destination folder and do not create duplicates.
Destructive truncation/trimming can be done in the Cubasis sample-editor. And files recorded can be deleted.
As for deleting 'factory content' it's a bit more tricky since it's included in the base install, if you delete it it will come back with the next update again... Only way to 'solve' this would be to ship with NO content and download it on first run.
Cubasis is one of my top music apps on iOS (currently one of my two favorites with Gadget... But I'm really hoping to add BM3 and LoopyME/3 in that VIP list soon lol), but I have to admit that the file management feels outdated and not practical at all... It's even strange/surprising given the quality and intuitivity of the rest of the app...
But I keep the faith about seeing an improvement on this in Cubasis 3 (next summer lol ?).
Hi! I have an issue freezing tracks in Cubasis. When I freeze an AU track the wave in the clone track is much larger and empty! Anyone has experimented this? It happened with iSem and Ruismaker.
I haven't tried iSEM, but Ruismaker freezes without issue for me. However, if you're using a multi-out interface and have the channel you are freezing on anything other than the main outputs (1/2), it will give you an empty frozen track. At least it did with me.
As previously mentioned in this thread Cubasis has some 'freeze issues' that are being worked on.
It's not always the hosts fault so it's a 'mixed soup'. The mentioned AUv3(iSEM and Ruismaker) freeze audio on my iPad Air 2 iOS10.0.2 with latest Cubasis but can sometimes produce unexpected results such as being off the grid and other timing issues.
My temporary solution is to use alternate hosts for sequencing the AUv3's and export/import the audio to Cubasis.
I create a new project and it seems it's back again, very odd. Thanks for answer
If Cub2 has freeze issues, @Samu, then freeze as a "bounce in place" workaround is not a real option. Well, back to Garageband for sketching, I suppose...
Or ModSTEP which I use as a temporary solution for sequencing AUv3's but it has issues with sending PitchBend and ModWheel to AUv3's so I sometimes end up hosting the AUv3's that need pitch-bend and mod-wheel in AUM and feed the midi from ModSTEP...
But yeah, GarageBand has pretty solid AUv3 implementation but lacks some other features.
Sooner or later we'll have proper tools in place but I feel sad for the Developers because there is not a single AUv3 host that works properly with all features in place...
Well, Auria Pro 2.06 is due very soon. Perhaps that's what AU users are waiting for. Garageband, Garageband... why wouldn't Apple step it up and make it a real DAW?
LOL!
In Apple we trust!
Nah, Garageband stem exporting is difficult, while in Cubasis I can export my tracks right into Auria. I think I can live with unbounced MIDI for now.
Hope I'm not being too annoying bumping this, but does anyone know? I googled a bit and couldn't find out, but probably because I'm using the terminology incorrectly
yep.
Could using AudioShare to do the unzipping be a good workaround?
Ok, now I feel really dumb
Yep I'm annoying?
Yep I'm using the terminology wrong?
Yep Cubasis can automate the FX?
Yep all three?
Yes, the effects in the FX packs can be automated, and yes, that's the correct terminology
That 'works' but the idea of zipping a folder prior to importing it into Cubasis is to be able to import many files at once instead of having to import them one-by-one.
I'm starting to feel really odd around here. I'm not experiencing any difficult with freezing in place. But also to satisfy myself that there is a workaround if I do, I tried creating a mixdown with soloing just the track I want to freeze, then adding that to the project (just double-tap, then mute the MIDI channel). That works smooth as butter as well.
I'm used to being the one that has odd problems, but lately it's just the opposite. I'm having no problems where others seem to. Freeze and mixdown in Cubasis are working great for me. iOS 9.5.5. Maybe I'll get to join in the fun when I "upgrade" to 10.
