I'm on iOS9 as well. Going to try the solo mixdown workaround - I used to do it with Auria 1.x when there was no bounce in place option.
I had a feeling you were going to say that would be the shortcoming. Leaving phantom files that can only be cleaned by popping the hood so to speak is just so dirty. Of all the limitations of Cubasis you've pointed out, this one, to me, seems the most damning. Just sloppy and just unfair to users that don't know any better. Hope they fix it ASAP.
Thanks!
Freezing works fine for me when using the Micro-Sonic and Mini-Sampler and also when working with Audio.
The 'timing related' issues start when freezing tracks containing AUv3-Instruments, IAA-Instruments or even the built-in Micrologue where the resulting audio 'drifts in time'.(Audio arrives too early compared to the midi-notes that trigger it).
Recording audio via AudioBus or an IAA-Generator works smoothly without any major issues at all.
Even with all these 'issues' I still enjoy using Cubasis and will keep on using it for long time to come...
It will be fixed it time as the developers are most likely pretty aware of it by now.
We do have our friend Lars (@LFS) from Steinberg who keeps the developers up-to-date on the issues that pop up.
I don't need a DAW
I don't need a DAW
I don't need a DAW
I don't need a DAW

All fx and instruments can be automated, by twisting knobs and such or by drqwing them in with your finger
I keep telling myself the same thing. That, and if I do need one, use a 'real' one on the desktop. However there's a nice synth buried in there. Don't need that either, but I WANT it...
Anyone who can comment on FLAC? Cubasis can read/write it. Can anything else on iOS do that?
No, AFAIK. Auria can read/write 24/96 AIFF and WAV files, and even (but not write) mp3 files, but FLAC won't show up in the file browser.
Twisted wave can open flac files.
Thanks, it does say it can read/write them, and it's universal too!
Screw it, I'm a synth head and I'm off the wagon! I'm in! Bought the whole set! Maybe I need a DAW, maybe I don't, but at the very least I've got Micrologue to play with
first, many thanks for this great and free update!
Although some of my biggest issues are still present. As many other people already mentioned, the combination of latency/delay when freezing/bouncing external instruments and (still)not being able to switch off quantisation complitely (to trim the files) is a workflow killer.
Also,i'm still wondering what is so hard about to include a preset/snapshot system at least for the internal plugins?Especially wondering because the internal instruments have presets...I appreciate that you (@LFS) add more and more complex plugins but with more complexitiy it becomes more important to save settings.Often enough i also like to compare settings, should be possible without the need to sacrifice one of the rare insert slots.
Last thing i noticed, the edit/project screen is definitely more sluggish in bigger projects while zooming/scrolling (yes,i always have the"low waveform quality"option on)now.Hope you can improve that again.
@Crabman What's up, old timer? Good to see you're still around.
oh,i did not expect anyone would notice my absence
All good, thanks. My focus just shifted a little more back to the hardware side of life and other stuff to do like a movement etc.But i have always an eye on this forum.Although It seems my appoholism is under control at least for now
Hi, I'm currently creating audio plugin for android devices. I really need good testers. Do someone know anything about htis guys qatestlab.com/services/we-are-professionals-in/user-interface-testing/? I'm hoping to get professional testing report.
You are a DAW
Out of curiosity, which plugin format is available on Android? And what apps are out there to host plugins?
Howdy Lars, I tried to log on to the Steinberg forum but am having issues (contradictory errors of 'email unknown' when I try to log in but then it says the email exists already when I try to register anew with it, yada yada etc.)
Anyway, I was going to post a feature request for:
'Time Stretching Midi Objects'
This is an awesome feature I use on a PC Daw all the time to double or halve the playback of a midi object. It is super useful for building tracks and the button already exists on the Cubasis UI for audio, it just gets greyed out when selecting a midi object. I don't imagine this would be too difficult to do. Even if you could only halve or double the length and it was destructive, that would be fine too!
Hi AudioGus,
Thanks for your suggestion, added to the list of feature requests.
Best,
Lars
Once they have added midi learn you will like it and realize how handy it works without app switching using AU's only.
Cool, thanks Lars!
I am curious if AU parameters may show up in the Automation section at some point? Not sure if this is technicaly possible given the AU framework but If Cubasis had that and midi time stretching, well I would rarely turn my PC on.
Is this all ever going to be universal? I can't see myself or most of the people I know lugging an ipad around along with my iPhone plus when it's plenty big enough. For instance korg gadget works wonderfully on a plus screen. Any plans?
I was pretty sure that @brambos apps supported automation in Cubasis. Yeah, yeah, right there: Phasemaker 1.1 Intro Trailer 0:33
I didn't realize before it was done with MIDI CCs: https://www.steinberg.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=97246#p542535
So if I understand correctly, the advantage of what @Audiogus suggests would be that the parameters would be named, instead of just labeled with generic CC numbers?
@Samu can you comment on how BM3 will handle AU parameter automation?
As well as in plain english it would be just plain awesome to have the choice to have them accessible in either midi objects or the kick ass 'Automation' section for a given track. Here is the nice plain english of Micrologue in the automation section... would just be cool to have the choice to embed it in midi objects if you want. There are kind of a few points at play here (AUs, built in instruments, automation lane, automation within midi objects) and I may not be too clear.
Anyway, from the Ruismaker FM manual... (yo @brambos , sup). Sounds like these can be found in plain english from the AU.
Auria Pro automates Both instrument and effect AUx. So it's definitely already possible. Just not implemented yet in cubasis.
Currently you can 'draw' automations for AUv3 parameters.
You can not use the AUv3 UI to automate since there is no way to record the events from the AUv3 UI.
You can however assign AUv3 parameters to BM3's 'macro knobs' and those can be 'recorded'...
(This is still being worked to make things even smoother and it's one of the areas of the sequencer I'm currently testing together with the rest of the app).
My personal focus with BM3-Testing is on 'sampling & synthesis as that's the area i feel most comfortable with
