Strange how there are no videos uploaded yet of what the iWavestation will look like and we are going by word of mouth. The pessimist in me says that it might be well into later next year before this is released or it won't see the light of day and Korg scraps it. However, the optimist in me says that this will be released before Christmas and come with the gadget version even though it was said that no gadget will be released yet.
I was just thinking this earlier re: Roland. They've been remarkably vacant in the mobile music dept. and I'm curious as to why that may be. It would be an extremely fun weekend(s) to revisit a mobile JD-800. And their lineage of analog and digital instruments could quickly fill many iOS devices. And I of course wouldn't mind a mobile CS2X—my high school days synth I still regret selling. Come on Roland. Cut back on the fluorescent green!
I would love to see Roland release the D-50 on iOS.
I'm keeping the faith. Mainly for the simple fact that the desktop Wavestation plugin has been around for a while and is a gloriously sacred thing to many. Maybe too optimistic, but I feel like Korg's investment in the iOS eco-system continues to gain steam and it makes a certain bit of sense that they would keep the ball rolling by pushing their benchmark instruments over to iOS. BUT, Roland continues to nap, so who knows. Fingers crossed!
Absolutely agree.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
+1 Digital Native Dance and Fantasia definitely need some love!
+1 for iOS D-50![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I couldn't afford the D50 and had a D10 - but yes, a D50 ios version would be so cool.
Ideally combined with an R8 for those who like drums from that same era![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
I'm not sure we will ever see the same level of iOS support for synthesizers as Korg from either Roland or Yamaha.
Korg where one of the first synth manufacturers to provide VST emulations, and provide a large number of them, Roland have done very little in that arena, SoundCanvas and System1, preferring their own Plug-Out stuff, and Yamaha have done none at all only releasing mixer VST's through Steinberg, as with FM7 most VST emulations of these two synth manufaturers where done by third parties.
I suspect the same will be true of iOS emulations.
On a positive note, Yamaha still make decent motorcycles![:p :p](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/tongue.png)
And Casio make aluminium cooking pots.
Vocaloid is more lucrative for Yamaha than synths right now. There are a lot of new voices coming out for their iOS app lately. 2 English voices.
Is it available in UK yet ? I've still got Miriam for the PC.
I don't know. I'm in Japan so I picked it up when it first came out. They have English now so they should make it available elsewhere.
Any News of iWavestation ?
No news AFAIK yet. The Korg guy on the podcast said later in the year so I reckon it could be released sometime in December as the podcast was recorded in October.
( sung to the tune of White Christmas), I'm dreaming of a Korg iwavestation sometime before December 25th, where the wave shapes mingle and my fingers tingle at the touch of a true synth monolith.
Lol.......... I hope this Christmas, Tiny Tim doesn't nick my Midi cable, to keep his trousers up.......![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
Is it 100% confirmed to be wave station? I thought that was a rumor initially.
I'm hoping for something in the lines of the HD-1 engine from the Kronos with sampling and sample-editing instead of a iM1-Style 'port' from the Legacy collection...

Korg Wavestation on iOS?
Well - yes! I actually had a play with a beta of it on Saturday at Synth Fest UK. At first I didn't realize it was the Wavestation app - I just saw a Korg controller plugged into an iPad using that new Korg Plug Key. It was only after a moment of enjoying the sounds I realized what the app was :-)
And whilst I had someone with "Korg" on their name badge I did mention the fact that iMS20 could do with a little love these days....
I wouldn't hold your breath.....
Legacy collection is MS20, Poly6, M1 and Wavestation and Korg have ported the 1st 3
Don't forget MonoPoly please ...
Yeah, MonoPoly would be nice as it's a very flexible synth!
What worried me after listening the podcast regarding iWavestation was that it will initially not provide a Gadget![:( :(](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/frowning.png)
I agree.
Korg are pretty brilliant at being a software company. It's kind of amazing that they are actually a hardware company.
In fact thinking about it, aren't Korg pretty much the coolest company in the world?
All I ever knew about Korg 25 years ago was that I had a crappy guitar tuner they made. I had no idea they actually made synths and a lot of other cool musical equipment. I love their apps, they are very professional and well done.
That would be cool, IOS is missing something like that.
On the synth side, to be honest I was never a fan of Korg synths in the early days, but they definitely improved with each generation they released, and they have certainly taken IOS apps to heart, I love what have been doing from Gadget onwards.
Other than the brilliant Wavestation, another classic Korg synth from the 1990s I would love to see on iOS is the Korg Z1.
I wonder about Stephen Kay's Karma from Korg.. I had it for my Triton and am currently using it with my M50 and it is just such a powerhouse! Would love to see it incorporated into something iOS but not sure if it even possible. The original Karma was a beast in its own right. A Karma app would certainly add a lot of depth to any iOS setup.
