So Christmas came early
Very happy to see this is properly universal. Gives me hope that iM1 can get a make over

More like upgrade would be very cool! New features and scale grid,

Eh? I thought they were in the synth business.
Winner!
Super duper pretty please. Trying to get my head around the hardware interoperability part before taking the plunge.
And Yamaha was first out of the gate (for the big boys) with a load of apps. They haven't kept up (or I've been missing it) and have always had weird regional app release issues. I don't use any of their apps but I'll give them credit for leading the charge.
I'm thinking this got made available in the app store sooner than they meant it to be. You can submit an app, have it approved and sit hidden until you decide to release it, aligned with some marketing effort. Something tells me Korg is looking for a new intern as of this morning.
I have the same feeling about it being released by accident. There isn't even a video in the store description.
But then on the other hand, Gadget update within a few hours.
Anyway, the video and the update sold me already, off to download
I really need a manual for this. The oscillator ABCd is confusing. Can't figure out how to add additional parts either. Basically I get the concept, super happy with the sounds and stuff, but no idea what the hell in doing
Can't help to wonder what comes next from Korg...
Even if Yamaha's Music Mobile Sequencer is quite limited the piano-roll editor in it is more fully featured compared to Gadget.
As insane as it sounds I'd love to have a giganormous >15" iPad to run Gadget on...
These may help for now:
Legacy Manual: https://www.korguser.net/downloadfile/documentation/KLC_WAVESTATION_Manual.zip
Wavestation SR Reference Guide: http://www.korg.com/us/support/download/manual/1/226/1561/
Player's Guide: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/888443/Korg-Wavestation.html
Original Manual: http://i.korg.com/downloads/sharednet/WAVESTATION_Original_Manual.zip
Thanks for these links, I'll need them, I'm all excited but bewildered at the same time.
And just to pile more on myself I also got the iap...lots of fun!
Only 'issue' in Gadget I've found so far is the that 'Joystick' has the Y-Axis swapped when using the X&Y pad on the Korg NanoKey Studio...(Moving up, moves the joystick down and vice versa, left and right work as expected).
Yep, missed the potential for a big splash release. I also think the timing is bad - straight after everyone's spent out on Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales and completely skint.
i'm betting marketing materials will be out tomorrow HOPEFULLY
how long is the sale on for?
Manual is up

Thanks! Sadly no direct IO between the app and the hardware:
The good news is all of those wavestation sysex files floating around the internets can be imported.
Bummer that it's so much like the original that it only really supports 4 assignable global MIDI CCs: 2 can be mapped to the joystick axes and 2 can be mapped as modulation sources.
Whatever, I'm in.
Thanks Jes! Ahhhh, there it is, no more 404. The thread is so long, I can't read the pages before this one, cause I'm on a very deep journey in the iwavestation world So far as I can see, there's no import for own samples, yet. Let's request it and write it in the app store's reviews and hope they will just add it and it won't become another iap. The Gadget is smaller, real soundesign takes place in the big one. Other than that, I'm completely blown away with the possibilities. I'm into different categories of music and I have use for iWS in ANY of them. Regarding the "80s/90s feel": Maybe it's just me and a few others, but I NEVER just play a preset or record it into a track, with just 5% knob tweaking. Always out for experiments, make my own patches, design/combine instruments/destroy/glue/manipulate etc. until I'm satisfied. I love this synth!
Yeah that's what I looked at first as well.....looks like Export will be in iWavestation format which can then be reimported..no mention of sysex export which would be needed to send to hardware...can anyone confirm what the export format is ?
Q: Can they be imported with ifunbox or a context dialogue or is the hardware needed? Can you give me a hint, maybe a screenshot? Haven't checked it out yet...
Edit: Never mind, just saw the infos, too many incoming posts, here
+1 Nice !! Yeah the WS is aimed at the experimenter in us all for sure !
I was jamming with a friend the other day and fired up the old hardware Wavestation with Beatstep sequencing it and using that as a rhythmic ambient bedrock for the multitrack recording we were doing ...
I swear that the Ol beast has not sounded as modern since the day I bought it...like she had a a new lease on life ..
I guess that this forum and all the expectation around the release of iWavestation is what got me inspired to fire her up after a long break ..the beatstep and WS sure get along well..
Eek. Good catch.
My discoveries thus far: this is total wave inception. You have 8 parts, each of these 8 parts can have up to 4 "oscillators" ABCD. Each of these 4 "oscillators" can be a sequence of however many damn waves you want to throw in there it seems. And then you can play all this stuff as one giant patch. Yikes! You choose which parts you want active via the mixer page. You choose the number and type of oscillators with the morph page. You do the sequencing and cross fading of stuff on the "wave" page not "wave seq", the "wave seq" is the main page where you can get an overview of what's going on. You can also slide over the wave steps here to change the wave in basically a random fashion. Also, the drag points on the "wave" page are fiddle. I found aiming for the upper left corners of the little squares helps. Hope this helps, it sure confused me at first. This thing is a beast!
I was able to download Wavestation SysEx patches from this website: http://www.danphillips.com/wavestation/ws_sysex.htm.
Then using iTunes' file import, I brought them into iWavestation using the app's menu commands: File / Import sound data / Original WAVESTATION SysEx.
The SysEx banks are retained inside the app after you disconnect from iTunes. They'll overwrite whatever you have in the User 1 and User 2 banks, when you load the SysEx files into the synth.
Thanks for the info. More curious about the other way around. When you export a bank, does it show up as a new sysex file in iTunes file sharing? I just bought the app but wont have a chance to hook it up to a computer for a couple days.
Hey, all, if you're having trouble finding iaps, it's under the "file" button.
It creates an .iws file, as opposed to a .syx file. You can save it to your computer via iTunes. I assume it's to export/import patches to another instance of iWavestation. Haven't read the manual yet.
Is there a way to import these Sussex files in to Audioshare or anywhere else and do the import to iWS?
