I agree with this. I can't see a bad intention by the developers. They made toungue in cheek graphics that I think are funnily playing on stereotypes. And they added some silly words with humourous intentions.
I can see however how the combination of words "abuse" and "sex" and "knob" could trigger emotions in an abuse victim, and for that reason it is not just innocently silly but out of place in a music app.
Maybe it’s not realistic to expect a victim to react rationally. Is there some balance between allowing freedom of expression and being sensitive to the pain such expression might cause that we can all agree to? I don’t think so. I tend to favor freedom of expression, but I also don’t want to cause pain. In this case of the saxy sex button, I think it’s got good sax appeal. I don’t want to see fun or whimsical expression like this crushed.
A person who has suffered abuse is not a victim.
How so?
Sure you can research that yourself. Simple version is that the person who thinks of themselves as a victim is more likely to choose thought processes and behaviours that are detrimental to themselves.
If the Democrats had chosen him, they'd have stood a better chance. But the underlying issues that led to Trump would have remained.

For some reason I am reminded of the great Eagles song -
Victim of Love
'What kind of love have you got?
You should be home, but you're not
A room full of noise and dangerous boys
still makes you thirsty and hot
I heard about you and that man
There's just one thing I don't understand
You say he's a liar and he put out your fire
How come you still got his gun in your hand?
Victim of love , I see a broken heart
You got your stories to tell
Victim of love, it's such an easy part
and you know how to play it so well.'
Yes, that's a healthy way for a victim to deal with having been abused. Often much easier said than done.
Mr. Trump has his political views as do we all but I find it hard to be truly offended by him because he doesn't back them up with credibility. It's not people disagreeing with my views that could ever bother me, it's people disagreeing with their own views and lack of conviction that is irritating. Watching the president elect in action is the classic act of someone saying one thing and doing something else. I don't know how Trump supporters can take it, but they love it. My pops used to say whether it's wrong or right at least stand for something, Trump eschews the whole concept of conviction entirely as do his supporters by proxy, here's an example and you guys tell me how you handle the lack of credibility.
1.trump supporters hate that hillary lied, but do not hate that trump has told more lies than hillary or any of his primary opponents. it has nothing to do with hillary or liberals or anything.... you as a trump supporter hate the lies but choose the biggest liar. Understand I'm not trying to give hillary any brownie points, I'm just saying if two liars are standing in a single file line and you hate the first one but love the next one and the next one lies 3 times as much as the first one where is the credibility?
trump supporters blame hillary for the deaths of 4 americans at benghazi, she's hated more than the terrorist for that.... ok fine, but if you value americas blood and treasure that much and those 4 american lives mean that much to you then wouldn't you be outraged if you heard another politician say that they would blow iranian boats out of the water for doing something as juvenile as taunting american soldiers on war ships?.... seriously, do you know how many more precious american lives that would take in comparison to the 4 that were sadly lost at benghazi... potentially thousands.... forget democrat/republican... this is basic math, if 4 = so much outrage then when Mr. trump made that statement it should have outraged you beyond belief, not made you want to vote for him....where is the credibility in that?
you can't be outraged by obamas corruption and then not be equally outraged by someone whom is equally corrupt or someone whom is many times more corrupt.....
you can't claim to be a strict constitutionalist and then support religious test.... there is no credibility in it.
my pops used to say that when you are having a disagreement with someone that the quickest way to tell if they were being earnest is to not see if they align themselves with your point of view or agree with you, but if they truly align themselves with their own point of view or principles that they are espousing because when they are not even willing to tell their own truth or make their own truth make sense then they are effectively diffusing any truth in the idea they're promoting because it doesn't even make sense on their own terms.
It's like people loving Obama care when it was romney care or when it's called kentucky connect, but hating it when it's called obamacare....there's no credibility.. Trump isn't at odds with people like me he's at odds with himself and he's got a million examples like these. Many times he contradicts himself in the same sentence....so the way I see it is either trump supporters don't really hate hillary or they don't really love donald trump and Mr. Trump has no credibility. You can't say you're the least racist person anyone has ever met and also deny people a place to live based on their race.... that's not how credibility works, the truth doesn't work by lying. You've got to be telling the truth ( making a credible statement) long before you even get to the point of debating liberalism, conservatism, etc...that stuff doesn't even matter at this point.

All of these people, be it Trump, Clinton, Cameron, Corbyn, etc, simply espouse whatever half-baked ideology they think will fool the masses into supporting their position. Not one of them has the answer to national or global issues, or any real interest in the sheeple. Everything they do is bent toward their own wealth/ standing, and keeping the status quo where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
The big problem for the political elites is that people - tens of millions in all countries - are waking up, and no longer believe a word of manufactured news, or false promises. Thus was Hilary and the EU rejected. Whether these choices are good in the long term or not, at least they are free choices made by populations sending a very clear message that change is not only required, but demanded.
It is up to us - all of us - to hold politicians to account, and remind them very frequently that they work for us, not the other way around.
It's always the same couple of people here who rile everyone up and make a big fuss over some bollocks political correctness topic, misquote, overstated personal opinion, sense of humour or whatnot. Unfortunately it seems to be politically fine to be a dick so I guess we're stuck in a never ending cycle here.
>
Yes, there are those who deliberately rile people, as you say. But that shouldn't stop the rest of us making a measured contribution. Politics us in all our lives, whether we like it or not, and it's certainly represented in music by some of the greatest acts we all know.
Y'all, I voted for Trump, I think this app is funny, and I don't care who knows it.
I timed it, when playing the app, the knob abuse message scrolls across near enough on the dot every 60 seconds.
Does that count as "infrequent" to you?
Does it sound better than HeavyBrass' solo instruments? Where can I listen a demo?
No.1 in the UK AppStore. Rock on
@kobamoto, your pops had a wise head.

I think it's as good.

Thanks to @RedSkyLullaby

Very simply - it's to do with righteousness, holiness, purity, beauty. Some will scorn that statement and belittle it. Others will regard it as self-righteous, when it's nothing to do with self but an absolute. Others will call those statements intolerant (which is again not the case, I'm not expressing intolerance of anyone). Others will think it unreasonable, nuts, fanatical. (Some of you know me a bit better and know that I am neither unreasonable nor nuts, nor have I ever represented myself as fanatical). Others will consider that infantile and exhort such to grow up and that adults say such things. I've been an adult who honors, loves and cherishes my wife for quite a long time. I've been happily married for 26 years. I have three children. Nothing foreign about the subject. (A subject that is good - and again that is something that is usually dimissed by some as though somehow it's impossible to consider something good and right and proper and also to consider it has a proper place).
There is a place for everything. In an app that I might use on an iDevice is not that place.
As a result, as I've indicated, I will not purchase this app as long as it contains the references it does. Nor any other app by embertone as a result that has any similar references in. Others have other reasons they will not purchase it as has been discussed. Those are different but ultimately related reasons since if the one (the unrighteous abuse of a good gift) did not exist, it would not lead to the other (the inappropriate mentioning out of context).
I have also counseled a good number of people on the subject - couples and others. This is not something I don't talk about. It's a matter of propriety.
Note: In this post I have not accused anyone, abused anyone or spoken ill of anyone. I hope you are not offended by righteousnes, purity, beauty being discussed either (things which some here hold in high regard) as much as some seem to be quite comfortable discussing things in a different manner.
SDG.

Not offended in the slightest, SDG. Everyone is entitled to their view. And to put their thoughts here.
It's a pity you feel unable to enjoy the app for its musical qualities, or indeed the rather spiritual sound of sax. But as always it's your choice alone that counts for you.
I couldn't disagree more with the fuss surrounding this app doing nothing more than humourously playing up a time honoured and classic music cliche. I'm surprised to see that even people who's opinions I respect highly making such a fuss (although glad that some people at least can discuss their opinions in a constructive manner). My own opinion is that creativity and/or humour should never be sterilised or watered down in any way. Not for the sake of political correctness, not for hurt feelings or any degree of taking a morale high ground. Creativity and freedom of expression is of the highest importance.
+1
if this topic gets any spicier, it might hop off the (Audio)bus and go galavanting across the Internet! Proceed with caution!
Sometimes ya just gotta say 'What the fuck!?!'
If people are using an app and it bothers them, it seems reasonable for them to not want to use it. In the past, for example, various color schemes in apps have been enough to put people off from using or purchasing an app. Sex can be a very polarizing topic and I can't recall any other music apps that have had sexual references in the app. Politics can be very polarizing too and don't recall any music apps drawing upon this either. There have been some music apps that do include religious references but these seem to be focused on religious genre music actually played in churches.
It seems unreasonable to expect that people from such a wide array of countries, cultures, religions, and political persuasions will be able to see eye to eye or get along consistently when these hot button topics arise on threads.
People! Can't we get along? This forum has been an oasis for me. I DO NOT want to know who voted for Trump. I really, really, really don't. I just want to know whether you like an app or not and why. Let's share our love for making music and let's help each other. I feel bad that I am the one that posted this thread and launched all this negativity.
@decibelle I am so sorry for what happened to you. You should get a refund. I'm sure it will not be a problem.
I don't know you but I know well your many generous contributions to this forum. I hope this doesn't turn you off because we are lucky to have you in it. Your gender is irrelevant, but there is a mono-perspective to this forum. Let's be honest, it is mostly a gathering of graying men like me. There is a range opf belief within that, but more perspectives are healthy, needed and very welcome.
I have contacted Embertone and given them the link to this thread. They should read it and listen. From all evidence, I think they will.
IMHO they should change the name of the knob and remove all the messages. Or at the very least they should give people the option in "settings." It's not a lot of work on their part and it's just good business.
This is not for just for you, but also for @MusicMan4Christ and all the other people who would like to use this app at church.
To be honest, I was kind of interested in buying this for my PC, but I didn't buy it because I thought the UI was childish and obnoxious. I didn't take offense to it, but I just didn't want to look at anything that stupid. There's a banjo program that Realitone makes that I like, but I won't buy it because it has this stupid cartoon of dumb hick banjo picker and his dog. I like the app, but will never buy it, although I have purchased two Realitone plugins and like them.
If Embertone doesn't change the interface, I won't buy the app or the plug-in. And I will think twice about the many hundreds of dollars I was probably going to spend on the Embertone site in the coming years.
Not to troll, but @Patric_Bateman is that your real name? The lead character from AMERICAN PSYCHO? The guy who brutally murders numerous women and a homeless person for fun? (And the homeless person's dog) If so, you have my sympathy. If you chose this name, then why?
Conservative thinking is what made gays being a shame of society, women outside votations, lack of free speech freedom, racial seggregation. They all said at there times: " Don't change anything, this will endanger our good society. " Political incorrectness has been many times a punch to established concepts that nobody dared to touch. If someone feels offended and feels that holiness has remotely something to do with the word SEX written in an app and not about fighting against a real injustice ( let's take as a random example sex abbuse from priest to children) well...it's their choice.
