  • I read this whole thread and it makes me feel bad about humanity.

  • Hello group!

We're so excited to be a part of the iOS VI world now... and we have plans beyond Sensual Sax.

I'm grateful that Reid alerted me about this thread, and found the 7 pages of comments simultaneously exciting, confusing, and troubling. Let me respond briefly to the main points of the thread:

    (1) The app is cheesy... and it's a reflection of my questionable, juvenile, crass sense of humor. One could argue that it devalues the app by some degree. From the beginning, Sensual Sax was meant to be a novelty, poking fun at the "sexy sax" stereotype. Over the years I continue to be surprised at the real usefulness of this thing. I'm truly sorry if this offends.

    (2) I'm committed to keeping the spirit of the app... in all of its cheesiness. BUT in light of the commentary here, I'll see to it that the offensive messaging (referring to abusing the sex knob) is removed in our first update. Annoying is one thing... but I want to stay a million miles away from messaging that alludes to sexual abuse. I hadn't even considered that angle and apologize!

We will create PG mode that covers the knob and removes the content in that (admittedly useless) messaging area.

    (3) I can confirm that AU is working in GarageBand and Cubasis... but with several reports about Auria Pro, we're looking into it. I don't own it and will be acquiring it ASAP!

    (4) How this thread devolved into a conversation about Donald Trump is totally beyond me. We live in a crazy world :)

Thanks for the encouragement, feedback and criticism. I'll pop in every now and then if users have additional suggestions and ideas!!

A PG mode is a decent idea mate, since a lot of us do produce music in public. That's a fair decision.

However, just remember, offense is never given, but always taken. Words themselves are fine. It's the intent behind them that counts. The knob is called the "sex" knob, and abusing a knob which so happens to be named "sex" has NOTHING to do with sexual abuse. The person whinging about it is simply picking at straws and expects people to bow to their whim.

I do apologise if I'm overstepping my bounds here, but it's difficult to stand by here while watching someone kind with the best of intentions apologise for their "questionable, juvenile, crass" sense of humour. How sad. :( Stuff like this would never have happened in 2008.

This said, Sensual Sax is the most incredible sax soundset I've heard. I thought nothing could ever top what Sampletank has, and you did it mate. This thing sounds like Kenny G is playing when "sensual mode" is on, and that's no exaggeration. I'm definitely looking forward to you porting EVERYTHING ELSE over to iOS too.

Thanks Alex for joining the thread. Just wanted to let you know the main reason I bought the app is because I was so drawn to the wonderful sound. So no matter what I or anyone else said be proud of the hard work that went into this application and thank you. I look forward to more from Embertone.

I'm thinking this sexy app looks like some good fun. Curious what it'll sound like in multiple instances and warped, and mangled. Concerned that some are saying it's not loading in Auria as AU, but it sounds like the devs are on it. Off to check out redsky's demo

If you run multiple AU instances through frekvens it frequency shifts to a higher plane from debase chakra to the third eye.

    Yummm... intrigued.

Are there many ways to reshape the character of the main sax sound within the app?

No direct shaping. Just the sex knob and a parameter window you can open to adjust amounts of reverb, vibrato, delay and undisclosed sensual 'justment.

Cool. I like the sound of this app and that it's AU. Nice price too. I don't think I have any sax sounds. might pick this one up. I kinda like the fun sexy cheese factor personally. :)

I hope the developer doesn't cave and gut the fun out his UI. Maybe he could just put in a button to turn off the sex text for the folks wanting to use the app in church. That seems reasonable.

  • Purchased. Thanks for your response and attention to your customers!
I really am loving the sound and expressiveness of the sound. Thanks for the upcoming update to the UI and the Knob fiasco.

Alex, this is already the best Sax App in the App Store. I for one will be keen to see, and likely buy similar instruments you may make for IOS.

As for a prude mode, fair enough to show willing. But please do not allow yourself to be bullied. So much of what is now happening in the world began with people forcing their view down the throats of others. So, if you want to be risqué then go for it. Most folks here understand that you have absolutely no bad intent.

Just tried again and app is NOT showing up in Cubasis 2 or in Auria Pro. It does work fine in AUM and Garage Band. Latest version of app and of IOS.

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for making such a good sounding app. Was an instabuy for me. One request: I saw that deeper parameters are only adjustable through AU host like AUM. I tried to control in AUM the mode parameter that has 3 modes ( Legato, sustain and Stacatto) and tried to control it through a CC message but unfortunately only jump from Stacatto to Legato but no way to switch it to Sustain ( the mode in the middle). Do you have any way we can control this parameter with Midi Hardware ?

    Thanks!

Gee, I didn't realise that by objecting to being the unconsenting customer on which Embertone sre imposing their unwanted erotic tastes, that means I am watering down and sterilising Embertone's creativity and humour?

I had no idea that respecting consent and consideration for others were such potent, hurtful weapons. I'll stop immediately.

    Oh, wait ...

All the marketing for this app clearly shows the SEX button, and that the app is a "SEXPERIENCE." Why did you buy it?

But having bought it for whatever reason, I think you have every right to hate the app and be offended by its sexual references. Haven't we all bought apps we didn't like for some reason? I tend to just not use them, but asking for our money back is also an option. What you can't do, though, is accuse the developers and people who like the app of supporting sexual assault and expect not to have to support such a claim with a rational argument. I don't think it's fair to make such an accusation without providing the evidence, and though you may not mean it that way, it comes off as a bullying tactic to try to force your opinion on people and to stifle their expressive freedom.

My guess is that the developers of Sensual Sax will see the indignation the app is causing and, in the interests of pleasing customers, will remove at least some of the superfluous interface elements. The app will work the same, so I don't really care. In principle, though... not liking the interface and requesting a change is one thing; the tactics used here are another. This kind of repression is more troubling to me than any "imposition of erotic tastes" people have had to endure.

    Agree.

If you ever want to expand the app with some more Dirty Sax samples (think Soft Cell), that might be an idea for an IAP and more revenue for yourselves :)

This has been an long thread, so, before I try to look closely, have anybody here had Sensual Sax found into Auria Pro as an AUv3?
In my iPad Pro with iOS 10.xx Auria Pro doesn't show Sensual Sax as an AU...?

    >

I see the same as you, ErrkaPetti. Sensual Sax is NOT showing up as AU under Auria Pro. Or as anything under Cubasis 2. It does work fine under AUM.

At least, I see Sensual Sax in Cubasis2... It's only Auria Pro that's blind...

  • I can see it in Cubasis on ios10.2

  • the main problem for me with the auv3 is that a) it crashes modstep even if it is not loaded into modstep and b) does not remember its state. quite odd, in AUM it is not even remembering its state within the same session.
so that will need some update.

  • Was @Patric_Bateman banned for this shit? SAD! And this pathetic guilt mongering actually worked??? Eww! ...Enjoy your sterilized Kenny G app!

Eureka! Tried a hard reboot, and Sensual Sax now shows up as AU instrument in both Cubasis 2 and Auria Pro.

I've not read the whole thread - it was getting very heavy - but I do think that the sex references cheapen an otherwise good sounding app, so I am not buying it.

    My thoughts too.

I'm no prude, but it just looks naff and a bit sleazy, so not for me I'm afraid.

Still, it's got everyone talking about it so I doubt it's hampered the sales figures. Sex sells after all.
