Doh! Ok thanks @ricksteruk and @Igneous1 !
It may have been better labelled as Monitor! Cheers I now have sound! Quite nice sound too
It can! In the import pop-up in Zurich, tap the import button, right at the top above audiocopy and AudioShare is a sort option
HUZZAH! Adding this to the features thread etc. And thank you good sir.
It would certainly be possible to hook up a cable out of adaptors you could purchase from china, but I'm not sure it'd be a good idea. Wouldn't the output carry some of the input under many circumstances? Unless you were to monitor it blind, and keep it that way for a while, you'd open yourself up to the possibility of feedback.
Try one of these:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/112061790549
That'll give you the mic on one jack (mono) and headphones on another jack (stereo) (presumably) (I've got one upstairs) (I should try and test it) (maybe one day). Then you could complete the loop yourself but the mic input will need attenuation from headphone level down to mic again (eg, twin the headphones together with a 10K resistor pair, take the feed from the centre of that and put it through a potential divider such as another 10K resistor in series with a 2K7 to ground, and take the mic signal from the junction in the middle of those two.) (just making those numbers up from the top of my head by the way, haven't tried it, but you'd get something - either a bit too high or a bit too low or you might be lucky, who knows).
[Edit] - wait, what am I talking about? IF you monitor it blind, there's no audio, so what's the point.
Does it do Audio Time stretch?
Edit.. And 'True' midi import?
Unfortunately not, it doesn't even have pitch shift.
No, but other folks have reported success time stretching in Blocs Wave and then bringing it into Gadget.
Not sure what you mean. Can you elaborate?
Made this after about 10 minutes of playing this morning. It's a lot of fun just to make daft noises into the mic and play around with them in the new gadgets:
Not a bad update..better that it's free..I doubt I'd have been happy paying for these gadgets truth be told.
Audio in is handy tho
This glass half empty bullshit is getting old.
Hey, Audiobus Forum. Here is a FREE version upgrade with 3 FREE gadgets and extra features!
Well the last update that had midi import wouid only import one bar per track.. seem limited.. did that change?
Good point well made @telecharge
I´m the only one (could be for sure) that find f.e. Garage Band much much better optimized for a multi-touch device.
Beside the XY pads there is not much i find really well for multi-touch in Gadget.
I mean at least in the iPhone version so far.
Sorry, but i still wait for to go on board to the hype train. Missed it.
I heard so much praise about it but it has so many flaws and missing standard features.
Well, i will try again.
I agree.
I've not tried importing a MIDI file since the update, but I can if it will be helpful to you.
Well, not just me.. but for the sake of the forum..will you, Thank you...
It's not a hype train. It's a quality app that many people have and enjoy. That doesn't mean it's right for you. Perhaps GarageBand is a better fit for your use case.
I like GarageBand, too, but it sucks for connecting with other apps.
Will do.
Brilliant - completely unlike any Gadget track I've ever heard, I'd buy it if I didn't have it already
i can't believe that 'Zurich' doesn't at least loop the whole recording and re-pitch it up/down when you change tempo. not expecting timestretch, but as a "tape deck" i would think it'd be able to at least do this (not that it would be very useful for some people/situations, but would be ok for some drum/percussion loop uses). looks like you're out of luck if your imported audio isn't all at the same exact tempo?
i didn't expect that 'Recife' would be able to import user samples (told ya), but now i really wish that it could.
Nothing has changed. I imported an 8-bar MIDI file and Gadget separated it into 8 1-bar tracks.
Oh well, Thanks..
and Gadget is better for connecting with other apps?
It is for me, but feel free to make your case.
I don't have a case because I don't own it. I was asking because I'm still weighing whether Gadget adds value to me relative to other tools.
This is not the thread where I say "but no midi out is there?" is it?
No Midi out ...
It depends what you find valuable. For me, Gadget has been a synth rack, but other folks like doing much of their composing within Gadget. I get that it's pricey for an iOS app, but there's a lot of bang for your buck.
GarageBand has the advantage of being cheap and supporting AU, so GarageBand might be a better choice if you have a number of AU apps you like to use.
I like having them both and agree that both could use some improvements.
I'm really happy with it. The audio may have restrictions but wer're used to that on iOS
It gives another lease of life to Gadget in my use and for me it's good for combining with other apps using Link. Was jamming earlier with Dhalang MG and Gadget. We'll see more updates and maybe more frequently if the Desktop version takes off.
Thanks Monzo, plenty of excitement to come from the update I feel.
