PSA for peeps that are sad about the lack of timestrech. If you have blocs. import there. set project tempo to what you desire in gadget. export to audioshare. import into gadget. problem solved.

Thanks for the tip - very useful indeed :+1:

Yeah Blocs is now made for Gadget friendship.

Mess with sounds in Blocs. Send them all to AudioShare. Import what you want into Gadget. It's so easy. I can see most my ideas starting in Blocs and then just going to Gadget to take further. If I ever get something I really like, then I can take it to Auria Pro.

Exactly. Auria Pro + Blocs + Gadget + Audioshare = Superfriends

I think Blocs might also provide a fairly easy way of adding silence to your audio file too.

Only if your sample is less than 4 bars....the slicer only allows 4 bars total length...you could fudge it messing with the tempo.

    Ah, cool. Thanks. Good info...

Another thought, if you have silence at the end of your sample, you could use the slip function in blocs without chopping the tail off.

I can't believe so many people are unimpressed. Just being able to import 16 bars of audio is huge. Recording is easy enough although u need to turn off loop to not record over the beginning. Best way is to duplicate a scene a few times, turn off loop and record 3-4 takes and then edit and erase the extra scenes. Rosario has some pretty good sounds.

I do plan to use it more for rhythm stuff, recording sequenced external gear, arps, etc than intricate playing. Anything more involved it's easy enough to record elsewhere and drop in. 16 bars!!!!

Personally I'm loving the free update :)

Agreed. The immediate frustration of the so close can sometimes be more noisy than the bigger picture pleasure...

I haven't even opened the new guitar and drum Gadgets yet. (Admitedly i've not had much time today). But i'm just really pleased about Zurich.

You know that if you add any of the channel strip effects to your Zurich gadget then you can automate these too (delay, filter, distortion, reverb etc...) with Gadget's nice automation lane drawing functionality.

If you are someone like me who likes composing and mixing whole tracks within Gadget then this is a historic day!!!

I've just been throwing TroubleMaker 303 wav loops (perfectly linked and tempoed) into Gadget and it's great.

Next step will be more ambitious tracking of Alchemy and Animoog performances into Gadget (via audioshare). The 16 bar limitation is a bit of a bummer I guess - but i'm thinking it will be possible to just slice a whole performance into perfect 16 bar audio files using MultiTrack DAW.

All on an iphone of course :)...

    Two things people should know:

    • It's one piece of audio per clip. Not one per track. (And you can always have more instances of Zurich if you want more than one audio file per scene/clip).

    • If you want to use Zurich (within Zurich) to very precisely move audio around to match the timing of your song (as someone said above) you can actually do this I believe - you'd just need to add lots of silence (the same amount as the clip length) to the audio file and then bring it back into Zurich. You can then use the start and end buttons on the left hand side of the screen (not the braces) to nudge the sample back and forth in a very accurate way.

I guess good practice is to record with silence at both ends of your samples (not loops) to allow more freedom when trying to adjust timing.

I've just had success recording from my Yamaha MM6 keyboard via Behringer iStudio audio interface -- into both of the new audio gadgets (not at the same time...will try that later). The only trouble I had was, at first I had failed to enable the "Rec" button in the gadget's channel strip before starting the main record function (Duh!).

I set up several Gadget scenes with varying lengths (an 8 bar, a 16, then a 4 bar, etc), and recorded straight through, and happily the playback is seamless. I was afraid of a noise glitch or whatever as it moved from scene to scene, but that was not the case. I'm pretty happy with the recorded results.

This was on iPad4 on iOS 9.3!

So what happens if you record into a 1 bar Zurich clip which is part of an 8 bar scene? Does it extend the Zurich clip to 8 bars? Does it overdub 8 times? Something else?

(Sorry - I can't really set up and check right now).

That would be nice. I think he mentioned previously he would prefer to make a separate advanced audio editor app (which would share the audioshare file space) rather than make the audioshare editor more complicated. But adding silence is not so big so he might add it. :) I saw he was working on an update to AUM on FB recently.

A more advanced editor in the Audioshare filespace would be very useful and would have a lot of buyers I'm sure.

No not 4 bars per sample....within the slicer you can only record 4 bars of performance.

If you add a sample to a pad (which can be any length) you can use the normal loop points to get your 16 bar slices.

  • Just waiting to collect my son from school I've opened a Gadget 3 jam I was working on earlier - and the temp is different due to no ableton link now.. and I noticed that the guitar loops I recorded on Zurich are now out of time with the drum tracks.

Any way Zurich can be made to time stretch?

recording and importing has no bar limit. i have recorded 64+ bars into blocs with no issue.
its only the slicing that has a 4 bar limit. so. import 64 bar sample. slice into 16 bar segments via loop brace.
flatten and export. no need to make 4 bar segments unless you're slicing.

Not that we know of....if you cannot get the original tempo back then load your guitar recording into blocs wave, set the number of bars for the sample properties and it will tell you what the tempo was.

  • How about giving Korg a chance to update before asking other developers to address perceived deficiencies? Seems rather presumptuous.

I just really hope @j_liljedahl add a 'add silence' feature to Audioshare soon - and then we're really rocking...

Yes indeed, he's been quite on here of late, but appeared yesterday i think, hope he's listening to this now :)

    Please, please, pretty please :)

    I'm here!

Right now I'm trying to finish an AUM update (waiting for some needed SDK changes to make it compatible with Audiobus3 state saving), then I'd like to get on with an AudioShare update. I agree that some simple editing stuff should be added to AudioShare (add silence, delete region, split file, perhaps merge files, etc). Then I'd like to get on with AUv3 versions of AUFX, etc. And at the same time also working on new stuff for Gestrument, and being a dad, and make some music, and build some hardware synths, and... well I hope you see why I'm so "slow" these days! ;)

Very nice to hear these things are in the pipeline!

A busy fellow indeed, one question, Do you still find time in the day to smile ? As long as you do, then all is good :)

"So what happens if you record into a 1 bar Zurich clip which is part of an 8 bar scene? Does it extend the Zurich clip to 8 bars? Does it overdub 8 times? Something else?"

Interesting...Zurich was set to 1 bar, a couple other scenes were at 8 bars, but I kept playing thru the 8 bars as I recorded. The marker remains set at 1 bar, so after recording I extended it to 8 bars and the whole recorded clip is there.

Great to hear, and some of your hardware pics looked really good too :)

  • Small request: When importing audio it would be a lovely thing if Gadget could steal from AS and allow ordering by date imported as well as name....

  • Sorry too many posts to wade through here but is it just me or can I really not record guitar into Zurich or Rosario if I connect it via iRig HD? I checked that I get get sound in another guitar amp sim and also that Gadget has microphone access.
The only inputs that show are 1,2 or 1+2 but I don't see input on the meters or hear any sound!

Did you remember to press the tiny REC button on the Zurich channel strip? That caught me out the first time.

This flummoxed me too - you need to tap the 'Rec' button on the right hand side of Rosario (mixer thing)
