  • Again, these gadgets are FREE. They seem to have been designed for the musician who wants to play guitar along to a track. I would like to take a BBC test recording and play the phrase "number nine" whenever I like, but that doesn't seem to be a possibility yet.

Use Bilbao for that. As long as the phrases are shorter than 5 sec. Bilbao is the way to go.

The audio tracks seem more geared towards recording vocals, guitars or other acoustic instruments. They only allow you to start the playback of a sample at the first beat of each scene, whereas Bilbao will let you play them like a drum kit.

There are 350+ comments, so forgive me if I missed this being answered before, but: Is there really no way to move the position of the waveform in Zürich?

You can adjust the start and end points but the selected range will ALWAYS play from the beginning of the scene. To make it play later you need to insert silence :disappointed: not ideal, I hope they fix this in an update.

An interesting 'bodge' I've stumbled across, is you can use Zurich's output level in the automation section to act as a gater kind of thing or to 'mute' parts of the waveform, in effect (by setting the output to zero)

Interesting work around, though you still need to add silence to the beginning of your sample if you want it to start at anything other than beat 1 of bar 1 :disappointed:

  • @ExAsperis99
You could do that with Bilbao / Abu Dhabi. Plus change pitch, start position (Bilbao), reverse (Abu Dhabi), etc, etc ;)

I think, in our village idiot simplicity, some of us hoped that our audio requirements might be largely met by simply increasing that 5 second limit to 30.....

Exactly so. You have 30 seconds you would like to chop and assign to pads. The idea that you would have to perform all the audio editing in Twisted Wave (one at a time, right?), then send these to audioshare, then import them (one at a time?) to Bilbao--exhausting. But at least there's Audioshare!

@Matt_Fletcher_2000 In essence, I agree. I think we (me) were emotionally imagining this release as some apotheosis of the Gadget experience, whereas, of course, it is a but step on the road, especially, hopefully, as regards audio.

The truth of it (for me) is that with being able to import samples longer than 16 bars my larger (sic) desire has been met. Yes, I am pretty curdled about not being able to move the start point of samples beyond Note One of a scene, but unless this was some Machiavellian strategic move on Korg's part, I have to hope/believe that this will be adjusted/added as we continue to move forward.

Have to add that my now more positive feelings were encouraged by the @Audiogus example of recording/playing into Blocs, which I am having obsessive fun with....you people might make a 'live' player out of me yet... :)

Me too, Gadget for me is now an extension of Blocs, generating nice loops and beats for triggering and transposing live in that one. Very useful vid from Mr Gus.

Cool, glad you guys liked the video. I was super happy and surprised what Novation had sitting in that little Audiobus Sidebar. Makes me think I should check out what other apps may be doing there... hmmm, then there is also Audiobus Remote running on the old iPhone... hmmm....

  • I am thinking about not updating- I have plenty of effects already, I also have plenty of drum machines- I could never imagine that I would want to record audio into Gadget- why are people so happy with this? I don't quite understand- unless you are using Gadget as a standalone. I use Gadget to improvise tracks before cropping the best bits out in blocswave then insertng in launchpad or Cubasis- where it will meet up other clips imported from a variety of other apps. Being a bit blinkered- I sort of assumed that most folks were doing a similar sort of thing. I also don't mind too much using pasteboard to import audio.

As someone mentioned earlier in the thread the 'hold to erase' button has gone now. After having given it some thought- I may just keep it at the expense of the new features.

  • That's what I love about IOS, we have tons of choices.

But having one of the biggest music hardware makers in the whole planet interested in creating stuff for is inIOS is enough to celebrate

And from the distance came the chanting of uneducated men thirsting for more MISTERGUSMOREVIDEOVIDEOVIDEO

Or it might be that I'm wearing my Ingerland shirt and about to watch the Lithuania game and thus am a bit more mob-happy than normal, BUT I'd still like to see a trademarked Gus look at AudiBus Remote as described....

Should also add that I have been using YOUR approach into Blocs with Navichord choral pads and it's lovely and simply brilliant....

Haven't gone deep into audio in Gadget yet but if I do I'm thinking the advantage would be to hear audio created in other apps in the context of a song. You can sort of do this routing gadget into AB or AUM along with other apps. But as you're suggesting the time it takes to load audio files into gadget is a disincentive. This would all be a different story if gadget had IAA or AB input.

I follow from afar, my match attendance peaked in the late 80s before a) They got an injection of money and therefore better and b) Costs drove me away.

My #1 team is my old local, Gillingham. Less rosy this year. :)

  • Great video @AudioGus
    Got me to subscribe.

I have to say for my more linear "songy" stuff Blocs Wave just didn't fit but seeing some EDM cats & you using it as a quasi-live tol really shows me the power of it. I bought it new on sale so I always can use it if necessary, thanks again though for giving me new ideas & demonstrating just how badass iOS music production is getting...well it's been badass for quite awhile...

Ha. I lived (and worked) on Sloane Avenue in the late eighties and was dragged to the Bridge by local thugs (friends) many times....happy (very hazy) days....favorite player? Pat Nevin :)

Does anyone use Sidechain? Is it work ? As for it has big delay

I use it, it was one of the things I was hoping they would add but since it was introduced I wasn't able to make it sound like I'm used to with other sidechaining compressors. I thought the decay was to long on minimum setting, good job with that image showing it's a delay. I'd love it very much if they fixed this.

I sent this screenshot to the KORG developers, and I hope they solve this problem

  • Anyone else having tempo issues?

If I change my tempo in one saved song, the tempo of all my other saved songs will now load at that tempo!

Yeah seems to be. If Ableton Link is on (with no other linked apps), loading a new song, keeps the last tempo. This is a right pain.

Even Ableton Live had this behaviour until they updated it to keep Link disabled when loading a project by default. Would be handy if Gadget did the same.
