    Just downloaded.

All working as expected with audio tracks!

Yes all good, except no sampling from IAA/AB so import from Audioshare or use audio interface to record in, and no time stretch :)

And loop markers are really useful too...

I've gained back half a gb storage from updating :p

how did you do that? I think I lost several 100 MB of storage ...

I think some updates free up storage that has been used for temp files. It's happened to me on the last two updates. Either that or some programs are losing a bit of 32bit fat?

Gadget is now showing as 1.27 GB on mine, was at 1.0 GB before the update

Yeah haven't checked it's size. Can't remember what it was before. Just know I now have an extra half gb storage (shrugs), which is better than a slap in the eye with a wet haddock ;)

You could also do that if AB was supported by Gadget no ?

PS : I will try that tonight if I can first figure out how to solve the current update/restore purchase bugs I have on my iPad (latest OS) since a few weeks (updates not showing in App Store log, Restore purchase stuck to 0%, ...)... I'm sad with my Pad... LOL

  • Nice set of new features and i didn't expect the new gadgets to be free

However, the current battery drain makes it a no go for me. I hope it's something they can patch later on

Well that's true and you can do it if you use an audio interface too. But for now if you have AUM it's pretty quick workflow to get stuff into Gadget and they'll probably add AB input at some point.

The most disappointment for me is still the patch management.
Is there still no way to export/import a patch bank without i-tunes. Like via open in, air drop, dropbox, audioshare etc.
Maybe i just missed it somewhere how this works.
A reason for me to buy also the desktop version would be that i have a bigger screen to editing and could easy share patch banks and stuff.
But i begin to think that the whole thing is not so straight forward and user friendly like it could be.
Midi settings are a bit of a pain too.
    It might be user fault?!?
    When comes Gadget 4.0? :#

  • My thoughts are that this update suits me perfectly.

Yes recording from IAA/AB/AUM would have been nice but the inclusion of Audioshare removes some of the pain, and in fact for me has a benefit....
I use Audioshare and Dropbox as my user generated sample store so that I can easily back it up....Having to use audioshare to get external samples and loops into Gadget means that I am forced to put them in a backed up location.
Yes this means that I will have some cleanup to do if I transfer samples that I end up not using...but I'd rather have that than lose samples because of a device failure.

So, iM1 is on sale. Aren’t Abu Dhabi and Bilbao cheaper than usual as well?
Doesn’t sound like the Mac version is ready just yet, but it’s already the opening of the “Season of Threes”. Gadget 3 is first, Audiobus 3 should be second, and BeatMaker 3 will eventually come out.

Looking at it from Sweden I'd say Gladstone and Madrid are approximately $5 off. I'm saying that as I have yet to purchase them and waited for this launch, and they indeed look cheaper than last week.

WTF! Mr Hell... Go and get both Madrid and Gladstone now, because they are fabolous!

And, I'm glad that I was wrong about the release date of Gadget 3.0... Hooray!

Gladstone and Madrid are normally the first 2 gadgets in any tune I do in Gadget.....My use of Madrid in final productions may drop off now that we have the audio as I may well play real bass guitar instead (space permitting), but I will still use Madrid during the messing/fiddling/noodling/composing or whatever you wanna call it. :)

Is anyone able to import a clip from AS and move it anywhere from the head of the scene?
My understanding of audio tracks is that a clip can be imported and placed anywhere on the timeline...am I missing something obvious here or am I expecting audio track workflow that isn't actually offered, that is: import a clip and have it start where I want it.

I guess the idea is that if I want to bring clips and place them where I want, I'm to use Bilbao...but then there's the clip time limits in Bilbao.

  • So what's so revolutionary about the new "redesigned Bilbao" ?
I was expecting something else. The sounds are nice though. I just can't seem to understand why the heck they didn't do a zoomed sample view. that would be so useful.

I did not try it yet (I updated just before leaving to work)... But what I read in this thread is making me really sad... I was desperatly waiting for this update almost only because I really thought it would be possible to record from other apps in Gadget (via IAA/AB)... And it seems that it's not possible... So disapointed right now !

I think it's time for me to test KRFT and/or Caustic ;-)

I'm thinking you could use AUM to record straight in to AudioShare using LINK to be controll Gadget - then you can paste directly from AudioShare into Zurich.

Not as simple as recording directly in Gadget, but it might work?

I'll try that tonight... It might be a solution, thanks man ;-)

I didn't actually. I hoped it might but saw no evidence that it would.

For me it makes hardly any difference anyway. You just use audioshare as an extention to Gadget. (The audioshare integration is such a good feature now!).

You can set your third party app playing along with Gadget (linked) and then record into audioshare. Trim in audioshare to taste - then import into Zurich. That's hardly any difference to recording direct into Zurich.

Plus in audioshare you can add IAA effects etc if you want to.

The ease of going back and forth between audioshare now is amazing. Just think of it as Gadget having a nice audio editor built in just a couple of taps from the Zurich Gadget.

not seen a way to do that yet, but you can change start point of loop, change loop area and automate volume so I guess the basics are there as a workaround to move the audio start away from the head of the scene for now.

    It is the solution :)

    1. I get glitchfest on a track that would previously work perfectly.

    2. Can't get to work Zurich to record from the built in mic. Or is this just an audio file player?

I've only had a brief look, but from what I can tell it is the inclusion of both looped and one shot playback. Not really revolutionary (I suppose loops are revolutions ? ).

You are correct on all fronts here (as far as I can see).

Imported audio must start at the start of a clip.

Bit of a weird limitation but I think I can work with it. I'm trying to think how I could add a couple of bars to the start of the audio file in Audioshare - but not sure it's possible there either. It might require pasting it into MultiTrack DAW or something - adding preceeding bars and then reimporting into Gadget.

Or you could split the scene into two in Gadget (but that's a hassle and is only good down to a bar).

Had the same problem until I saw the added record box you have to turn on at the bottom center of your screen. Warning, wear headphones for mic work.

My understanding of audio tracks is that a clip can be imported and placed anywhere on the timeline...

As far as I can tell clips always start from the beginning of a scene. You can decide where on the sample the start point is, but you can't insert "silence" at the beginning.

You could theoriticaly use the new loop markers to start playback from a bar other than bar 1, but you still need to position the sample based on the bar 1 position which could be tricky and means adding silence to the beginning of a sample if you do not want anything cut off.

It would be better if you could adjust the start and end point of the samle, but then also "slide" this section around in between the bars of the scene.

EDIT: I've found that you can actually see the bars and beats below the sample when moving the start pointer, so if you add enough silence to the beginning of a sample, you should be able to position it so the actual sound starts on the beat you want. Now if only AudioShare allowed you to insert silence that would be useful - even though it's still a hack, taking up valuable space.

But you can't move the sample up to be later in the clip. And you can duplicate it so it occurs twice in the clip.

    Can you?

mentioned some of the same in my post above (which I just edited) - no you can't move a sample, only the start point, also I don't think you can have more than one sample in each instrument per scene. So if you want to start the sound later than bar 1, you need to insert silence in the beginning. It does not need to be accurate as you can use the start-pointer to adjust, but I don't think AudioShare can do this, which then involves using a third app and then it becomes cumbersome. But it can be done
