Is anyone able to import a clip from AS and move it anywhere from the head of the scene?
My understanding of audio tracks is that a clip can be imported and placed anywhere on the timeline...am I missing something obvious here or am I expecting audio track workflow that isn't actually offered, that is: import a clip and have it start where I want it.

I guess the idea is that if I want to bring clips and place them where I want, I'm to use Bilbao...but then there's the clip time limits in Bilbao.

You are correct on all fronts here (as far as I can see).

Imported audio must start at the start of a clip.

Bit of a weird limitation but I think I can work with it. I'm trying to think how I could add a couple of bars to the start of the audio file in Audioshare - but not sure it's possible there either. It might require pasting it into MultiTrack DAW or something - adding preceeding bars and then reimporting into Gadget.

Or you could split the scene into two in Gadget (but that's a hassle and is only good down to a bar).

You can workaround. Insert silence at the start by automating gain.

But you can't move the sample up to be later in the clip. And you can duplicate it so it occurs twice in the clip.

    Can you?

Not sure if you can do that yet. I guess it depends on what you want to do with the sample so some editing might be necessary. you can change the loop start position but not sure if there's a way to move the very start of the sample away from the head of the clip....yet

so bit of forward thinking required for now :)

  • FYI - Twisted Wave Audio Editor can add silence

I am very puzzled by this 'must start at the head of the clip' sample limitation. Trying not to let it ruin the rest of the update, but you know how focused disappointment fog can be. Hope this is changed as we move forward and that it isn't a strategic limitation of some kind on Korg's part....

  • I can't see how they won't fix that eventually, it's too big of a thing now that audio is in.

  • Oh, the irony that even garage band allows one to record audio and move the sample around freely...

    1. I get glitchfest on a track that would previously work perfectly.

    1. Can't get to work Zurich to record from the built in mic. Or is this just an audio file player?

Had the same problem until I saw the added record box you have to turn on at the bottom center of your screen. Warning, wear headphones for mic work.

    Yes, that worked, thanks.

I presume there's no fix for the glitch. I've never had latency issues before. They might have tweaked the audio engine for more powerful devices. Dunno.

I agree it seems very strange. I just did a quick test using Twisted Wave to add silence and then importing through AudioShare. It works quite well to allow you to position the start of the sound where you want, as you can do a rough alignment and then zoom to the bar you want it to start, then use the "Start" parameter in the left side of the screen to finetune the sample position while zoomed in at the bar you work on.

Quite so. Funny how one app causes a ripple with others. Thought of TW immediately and how I have always wished AS allowed insert silence etc. Maybe now's the time to start seriously lobbying for that. Have to say that while they are INCREDIBLY finicky to grab hold off, the loop points are a major plus I'm grateful for.

  • Still trying to understand the Allihoopa integration - it seems to be only one way.

I can share a mix to Allihoopa, but I can't import anything into Gadget?

So what's the difference from SoundCloud and other services - other than with Allihoopa I'm giving away the rights to my music???

Maybe I'm just not getting it :smirk:

PSA for peeps that are sad about the lack of timestrech. If you have blocs. import there. set project tempo to what you desire in gadget. export to audioshare. import into gadget. problem solved.

for a free addition gadget just became even less of a toy for me. but more interesting than the import is the export to audioshare. Auria pro will see a lot more use of all the delicious gadgets now :D

Yes. i know i could just export to dropbox then import into Auria before. But i live in India. our net is terrible here. being able to directly export saves me SO MUCH TIME.

OH MY GAWD. DAT LOOP BRACE THOUGH! =D

Yeah Blocs is now made for Gadget friendship.

Mess with sounds in Blocs. Send them all to AudioShare. Import what you want into Gadget. It's so easy. I can see most my ideas starting in Blocs and then just going to Gadget to take further. If I ever get something I really like, then I can take it to Auria Pro.

  • Hmm, quite unimpressed by the update.

The Recife GUI is nice. But just another drum rompler...?!

I'm disappointed by Zürich, recording and placing audio feels cumbersome. Waveform handling is :/

Best news for me is Audioshare import.

Exactly. Auria Pro + Blocs + Gadget + Audioshare = Superfriends

  • In Zurich: Once you've placed a sample, how to delete it (apart from replacing it by placing another sample)?

I have been doing this for a while now, also Launchpad fits into this too, particularly when jamming as you can send the loops to there for triggering from the LP hardware.
Having the audio Gadgets now means that we can make proper programmed arrangements rather than being limited to live play in blocs or LP, and also means we can publish those creations to gadgetcloud if we so wish.

You can make pitched instruments in Bilbao. Raise or lower the knobs by increments of 100 for a semitone. This can be done with short taps for increments of 10. With the knobs set on rotary it can be done rather quickly.

I know but playing the 'pads' as 'pitched-instruments'(chords etc.) is a bit trickier.
It would be more helpful if the automation editor 'snapped' to semi-tones.

The best sampler app award goes to Caustic 3.2 however.

For now, but for how long, that's another question...

  • One thought on resampling....
Is it possible to make a loopback cable to go in the headphone socket that loops the output to the input without any crosstalk ?
Perhaps @u0421793 would have some idea ? I am in no way an electronics engineer but is it not just a matter of matching the input and output impedences ?

I'm using Gadget pretty much as a device for backing tracks that I play over with synths in AUM. The update really will help making the backing more fully fleshed out me thinks.

Key word strategic. Keep in mind Zurich was a free add on. I imagine their scheming a whole new battery of audio gadgets with cooler looking uis than the reel to reel for purchase later on. Hope to see in app audio routing and sample editing in 3.01...

I'm failing to understand why you'd bother. Why not just record into audioshare then move across to Gadget with a couple of clicks?

For me its no biggie, but others were dissappointed at there being no resampling. I guess my mind is abit overactive today...must be all the excitement :D

Yeah. I don't blame them for that. Give us a little audio taste at the school gates and then drive up in the truck later on with the good stuff...hope so.

Yeah already doing that. It's quite easy to get a sound where you want it between Blocs and AudioShare.

Easy audioshare integration is the big headline here I think.

And of course unlimited audio duration in Gadget.

It suddenly makes literally anything possible in Gadget.

I can't really understand why people are unimpressed in regard to Gadget now doing audio. It's a massive leap!

Sure, there could be more in terms of convientient in-Gadget features (which may or may not come further down the line). But the one tap nature of integration with audioshare makes it almost like part of Gadget.

Only if your sample is less than 4 bars....the slicer only allows 4 bars total length...you could fudge it messing with the tempo.
