So I realized that I don't actually own Phasemaker. It came out around the time of when I had splurged on a bunch of apps — plus it looks really complicated!

So I'm going to pick it up as a way of saying thanks for updating the other apps with such devotion.

But...there's almost nothing on YouTube about how to use Phasemaker. I tabbed through a long video by Pants of Death that seemed to be 90 percent theoretical discussion! (I did see Jakob Haq's dub demo in Cubasis, which was elegant if not quite my style.)
    Who uses Phasemaker?

I use Phasemaker frequently. It's not hard to make great-sounding patches, though it's better to go into it with the attitude of "I want to make something that sounds great" as opposed to "I want to make something that sounds just like X or Y". It's really capable of some astounding, beautiful, and musical sounds. The manual is very helpful and worth reading. I love it and didn't really expect to.

I'm not really an fm guy but phasemaker is well thought out. I like it. Don't use it much though. The random button is more useful than it normally is on other synths. Lots of happy accidents.

@brambos the sequencers look great. Would love some closer integration of your apps in the future, like a standalone app that combine all your apps into a sort of groovebox. Closedsystemmaker®

  • Thank you, Brambos. This is freaking great and I'm very excited.

  • Who uses Phasemaker?

One of my faves. The mutate button is a blast, and it's easy to get up to speed because the manual is extremely well written. (Brambos could make a good living giving manual writing classes.)

Yeah, he hits the sweet spot of giving the precise amount of information and background that is necessary. I appreciate that sorta thing.

  • This is FANTASTIC. It sounds like nothing else in the quiver.

The following is my sonic creed; I just didn't know it:

    Yes!

  • @brambos standalone FTW! ThankYou!

  • Thanks! looks great and fills a much needed gap as an AB3 midi drum sequencer. Bring it on. :)

It's not your standard drum sequencer though. What it actually is is magic. Just don't expect standard sequencing.

So apart from 1 being a drum machine - what is the difference between the versions as far as sequencing midi?

They are actually both drum machines, so the sequencers are very similar. One supports the original Ruismaker's 8 channels and the other the 6 channels of Ruismaker FM.

Any plans to make a standalone sequencer?

Non-standard is exactly what I'm hoping for :)

Then you might be extremely happy with it :) I know I am :D

  • The amazing thing about Euclidean patterns is that virtually every setting makes musical sense. It's really hard to create a rhythm that does not sound good.

So it was pretty easy to build a smart randomizer function around it. I reckon the new Ruismaker sequencers will also be very useful for people who like to generate loop fodder for further processing in things like Blocs or Reslice or Beatmaker.

  • @brambos sorry for being hardcore off topic: do you have any plans to finish your JD-Xi editor app?

  • I hope that Phasemaker gets some love after the Ruismaker Bros are out :)

Operator 'Scaling' would be a very welcome addition for creating more playable sounds across the keyboard range.

Chords (with strumming and arpeggiation options) together with a 'piano roll' would be totally awesome too.

    Ruismaker Bros

I'm imagining a bunch of muscly guys on the metro with Bluetooth speakers, battery powered wifi hub and cans (of shit beer), playing with their phones and making the most obnoxious beats they can (loudly in public) while congratulating each other on it.

  • Great news, looking forward for these updates. Love both drum apps a lot......

  • The Euclidean rhythm sequencer looks seriously awesome! Can't wait! Purchased all Bram Bos applications now.

Brambos is there a way to generate Bass lines with these two apps on specific keys? I hope his makes sense.

Can I use them to drive ifretless Bass via midi?

This is great because I bought Ruismaker long ago not knowing it was Au only and currently have no hosting apps in my lineup. Thanks @brambos

  • Really? Not even Audiobus or AUM?

Tryin' to imagine that .... :o

I have audiobus 2. But right now I'm really into the whole record a bunch of shit and toss it into blocs and launchpad workflow

  • ... which is a good workflow. B)

Still trying to imagine that tho. Do you also have a rotary telephone and a horse and buggy? ;)

Such fancies are still a distant dream for many in Queensland ;)

  • I have held off on getting Ruismaker & Ruismaker FM because of the lack of an in app sequencer & I figured that owning Elastic Drums, DM2 & SynthDrums I had synth drums covered. But news of this sequencer update made me jump and get both.

Using them in Cubasis as the sequencer works well & the sounds are individual enough to not make the apps redundant to owners of other synth drum apps. The drive & phat/punch controls certainly allow the typical synthy drum sounds to be altered and shaped into something different. The FM drums are extremely versatile.

I hope the apps don't go on sale with the update, but not because I just bought them. These apps are a bargain at $5 and for a new feature update to be free is very cool of @Brambos , but the dude needs support to keep making these excellent apps.

The subscription model is such a controversial topic in our community, and I agree with points on both sides. The devs who haven't gone that route need the communities support or solutions like subscription will become more attractive if not necessary.

  • I’m looking forward to the updated audio engine. I noticed Ripplemaker had a nice round sound to it and had been hoping for it to extend to the other plugins

  • I am suffering of a "regular app store refreshing syndrome" at the moment, regarding this update. @brambos any more info on the targeted release date ?

  • "regular app store refreshing syndrome" yeah i have this too, its included in the morning routine and bedtime routine, and at least 10 more time during the day......
