~~It doesn't seem to show up in gadget! Anyone have the same problem as me ?~~
Never mind. Working now. Carry on!

  • I'm torn on this one. I've always loved KORG and have been a Gadget completionist up to this point, but on the flip side I have sunk a lot of money into Gadget and barely even open the app anymore. If it were AU3, I would purchase in a heartbeat.

The $20 price tag will likely cover the next 4 apps Audio Damage releases, and I use those daily. I think I'll wait this one out.

Polyshare in ipolsix has been broken for at least a year and they promised Link on this ages ago, I'd like to buy more Korg apps when they keep their other ones in good shape.
The Gadgets exist as AU on Mac now so only policy is stopping them being released on ios as AUs. I've bought pretty much everything Korg have released so far but that's changing if they keep to this system.

It just feels like Korg's cash cow now. Maybe if they'd updated the ipolysix or even the iMS20 I'd be more supportive, but they're losing my interest now.

Can't argue with that sentiment ;)

Though after listing to this, I might end up eating my words - damn you Korg:

I am trying to get to a point now where I ask myself things like 'If this were a patch in Massive or Omnisphere would I use it or just keep on clicking?' Making music on the couch is a lovely thing but I have accepted that I need to suffer for my art and go back to working while seated upright in front of a computer.

Yeah I'm doing that a lot this year. After hearing a few vids it's not going to add much to what I already have so an easy pass for me. It looks great, but I've got iPolysix, iMS20, iM1 etc. etc.

  • One can always wait till the next regular sale. I was happy to pick up iWavestation for 15 bucks a little while back. Better than the intro price.

This new version of Gadget always crashes for me while attempting to save a song after changing a Gadget's Scale Type. Is anyone else having this problem?

Is this happening fir everybody ? Not goi g to update if it's crashing :/

It's a bit random. Old projects if you change scale have a 50/50 chance of crashing. New projects rarely if ever crash. Lucky for me I just use gadget as a sound module for hosting the stubborn Korg apps that lack ableton link so all I need is chromatic. All my midi data is in modstep.

The preset system in Monopoly is the best Korg has come up with thus far. Hope to see it implemented for all their other apps, especially Gadget.

New projects crash regularly when changing the scale. Didn't try old projects as I don't want to end up with any corrupt project files. That being said, using another data source (even using the BM3 trick) would for sure be the temporary work-around.

  • Have just bought this.

Haven't had much time to play but it sounds amazing.

It's like having imini inside Gadget.

The complexity of the synth is a big step forward for Gadget IMO.

Can someone do me a favour in Mono mode? Crank release and attack up all the way, hold a note until it hits full volume, release the note, then hit a different one. Does the attack restart from zero or does it pick up from the release value?

Edit: I cracked. It's from-zero but it sounds oh so sweet.

or make a copy of the track saving as ... (different name) before you change scale ?? thus you have the original unaffected track to go back to.

regardless im holding back on updating until they release a fix.

  • I agree- it does sound very good - it has entered the top end of my Gadget favourite chart already. You can get more of the multidimensional sounds you might be looking for.
The effects section is a joy to behold- individually tailored parameters to each effect.
There is no kaoss pads- but the effects section will not let you down.
There is enough parameter and other knobs around to keep you happy for a while.
Cutoff and Rez are fairly effective.
It is worth the money- even for the Gadget version alone.
Not many presets- but tinkering with it is fun- goes great with the Gadget 'drawing' in your automations.
Your Gadget needs this- it will be too short of being fully stacked without it.

The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • This is my favourite sounding Gadget synth now, along with Milpitas (which is a very different, sample driven, beast).

    It just sounds bloody great.

And I think it's my favourite set of Korg presets too. The basses and the chord/hits particularly.

I've bought the IAP presets and they are nice.

    All in all I'm happy.

Now I just need to figure out how to program it myself.

And I wonder if it's as processor heavy as Lexington. Hope not.

  • The demo gives no credit to this synth. It’s incredible. An instant buy. The sounds are so beautiful and versatile that this promise to be a workhorse. IAA and AB3 plus core midi is more than satisfactory, but how hard can it be to make new synths auv3 compatible? I mean… even the developer in my backyard masters the implementation of audio unit. This is Korg, a multimillion company. No excuses please.
However – this beauty is forgiven because of its instant appeal. It also works in Gadget.
    Thanks Korg.

  • Anybody know if there is a midi control chart for the standalone version?

Midi implementation looks lacking on first impression. :(

  • The preset 'Spineck' from the IAP pack is great.

Play a bass note, then try holding down a second and then a third key.

I need to figure out how they made that one.

  • Wasn't going to bother buying, and then I heard this from thesoundtestroom and it's become an insta-buy for me.

The sounds and effects are quite nice.

  • Was looking forward to this a while ago. But now....not sure. Sitting on.. too expensive

That's one too arcade for me, but there are some lovely bits and bobs. The richness will help with times I think everything's maybe a little too Gadgety....happy buy.

I only wish I had waited, but that's about the smartest thing you can. Meantime, I have Beathawk, I have Beatmaker 3, FL Studio 3, AUM, Cubasis, Auria, a plethora of AUs, Sampletank with most expansions, and well shit, even Xewton Music Studio, :D so it's not like I'm limited in my creative potential. Just wanted to spend more time getting more serious with Gadget after playing with it a little here and there. (Yeah, insert some sort of dumb innuendo here.)

I'm still gonna buy iMonoPoly if for nothing else to toss more money towards their development team, but ONLY once Korg rectifies Gadget. There's no f-cking excuse for such a gigantic bug to make it past beta (let alone alpha).

  • Stability update just released ...

Just a Gadget or standalone too?
I'm hesitant about Korg from now on I'm more into AUv3 compatible.

Yep. Not buying anything that doesn’t support AU

Within less than 24 hours. Not that awful of an inconvenience then, phew. Tomorrow, Korg will get my money, but also my two cents about keeping up their older apps (or at least adapting iElectribe to Gadget). ;)
