Yeah, while I’ve jumped in, I would still advise caution if your setup is reliant on certain apps, but while there is bound to be some issues with this update, it’s not looking too bad so far as far as my use is concerned
Yeah UK we use 19/09/17
Thanks for the heads up
AudioShare appears to be incompatible with the File Browser. It flips up a box as if loading, then vanishes.
@Fruitbat1919 Welp, I updated too and there is a few things I like & things I don’t.
First off, the new app dock is excellent. Flying around between our various music apps is really gonna be cool. I’ve done the double tap of the home screen out of habit a few times, but the quick up swipe for the dock & a longer swipe for the app control center is so cool.
Storage? Well, pre update I had 2.3GB free space. After? 21.7GB What?! Yep, Twenty One Gigabytes now free. BUT....
When I was checking Audio Share I looked at it’s internal storage info and it said there was only 3.4GB free. Mmmm. I’ve rebooted twice and it’s the same result, so...we’ll see. I really don’t think iOS 11 regained me 20GB, but I have never done a factory reset so I don’t know...
My biggest disappointment is the Files app. Okay, first of all I did only see a bit of the Apple event and although I had read several beta era reports and previews on the Apple tech sites, I did NOT do some thorough research. So it’s on me for misunderstanding or having big expectations.
But, come on, it’s like barely redesigned iCloud app!? I thought we’d have file access to the individual apps, making drag and drop truly useful, i.e. dragging a sample out of Audio Share’s folder and then dropping it into Patterning’s folder. But instead, we can move iCloud files to Dropbox! You mean like I’ve been doing for 2 years with the Documents app?!
Yeah, we can drag & drop the files now but aside from that the Files app is a popcorn fart. Yeah, drag & drop is neat, but all of the file transferring utilities available in the Files app could be done in Documents using edit, select, move, open in..., etc. Unless I’m using it wrong or missing something....the ultimate meh...
Other than the Files turd, iOS 11 is playing nice with my Air 2. All the major apps work fine, the system is still quick & snappy and aside from AnaDestro, littleMIDI, eSequencer and Oscillator all my apps are 64 bit and working. Should you upgrade? To me, the dock and the promise of hopefully the Files app maturing & expanding, moving to iOS 11 is worth it if you have an Air 2 or later, and from what I’ve been seeing, even Air 1 owners are happy with it.
Just be prepared for Apple’s subtle new design & layout scheme, ala Google’s perpetual F’ing with stuff that isn’t broken. I mean I understand they want the AppStore, the News app, their website, everything to share this unified look. But the App Store was perfectly fine, and now it looks like an amateur video game blog or some shit. Bad idea.
But overall I like it,
lol okay reading back I’ve been quite critical, but it’s alright. It is just the “dot 0” version, it’ll be refined. Best of luck if you take the plunge...
Hm, sounding very promising! I like the idea of the dock. Seems like there's a bit of catching up to do by a few apps to intergrate Files properly. Perhaps I'll sub out Flux:FX for Turnado for a little bit.. not as playable but could definitely perform the same musical role through most of the same hardware controls.
I get extreme latency with my Bluetooth 4.0 headphones. I'm on iPad pro 12.9.
Same here.
Addictive Pro AUv3 plugin crashed in BM3 when using more that two instance running iOS10.3.3. Now Addictive Pro AUv3 crashes with just two instance in BM3 on iOS 11. This is not good.
Apps have to add support for their folders to show up in Files app.
Previous purchases are still there. They just moved:
How to find your purchased apps in iOS 11
I'm curious about apps that are in our world. I know that because of the "sandbox" architecture Apple favors, in the past files have been locked down, but say if an app like Auria wanted to add support for the Files app could that work? Or is this more for storage related apps/services?
I hope it makes it easier to bounce stems out of Auria Pro

Thank you, mistercharlie.
BTW, this is a much slower way to search, and you have to backtrack to close it.
Took the plunge on my 16GB Mini 2 last night...did an ondevice update as iTunes just plain refused to connect to the update server....
Before update I had 800MB free space being reported by the settings app.....iTunes said there was 1.4GB
Thought I'd just give it a go even though i expected a 'Not enough space' error....
Got a message saying it needed 400MB more space....so looks like the iTunes figure of 1.4GB was actually the correct one and not the 800MB that the settings app reported...
Remove a couple of apps that i haven't saved any files or presets in...ran the update....
After the update 2.5GB free space
Not tried running any apps yet as I am full of a cold...encouraging to see the reports here of most stuff working or even working better than before
I can also report that, for me at least, IOS 11 and latest iTunes on Mac Mini makes no difference at all to back up tasks. In fact it’s worse.
I downloaded fresh version of latest iTunes and installed this on the Mac, then rebooted. But clicking on the iTunes icon, or trying to launch it any other way, completely fails to do anything at all. Total crap ware.
So, I fired up iMazing 2 and had absolutely no problem in backing up my iPad.
If a small, third party developer such as iMazing can get this right, why can’t Apple, with its 1.4 trillion dollar bank balance, make iTunes fit for purpose?
You can bet if that fracking thousand dollar iPhone relied upon it, the cursed app would fly.
Is anyone using a Yamaha Bluetooth midi md Bt01 device in iOS 11?
Is it working ok?
I've been able to send both midi and audio to ableton--works great with both iphone se and 2017 ipad. Running osx el capitan 10.11.6. You'll need to go to audio/midi set up on the mac, choose "show ios device browser" in the window tab and enable your ipad/iphone. Then they should show up as audio/midi sources in your daw.

@Strizbiz, I'm happy so far. Update without any issues, all my music apps are running very smoothly. Other general functions - Safari, FB, twitter all seem a little slicker than before.
Overall, everything seems better than before. I'm happy.
Yes, that's the big potential advantage of Files over apps like Documents or FileBrowser: once apps like Auria or Cubasis add support, we will be able to peer into the app file structure and move things in and out from any other accessible source. The functionality needs to be added by the developers on an app by app basis, but I imagine there will be a slow adoption over time.
Beautiful! Okay, my bad as the kids say. I thought that was coming out from jump street, but actually that makes more sense. Some app devs may not want their file architecture available for all to see so individual apps taking the initiative to play nice with Files does seem more realistic.
I was just excited! I was expecting to see all of the apps in that browser section with a Windows Explorer functionality happening...hell when I first opened it and only saw my iCloud folders I thought "nah, this must be the iCloud app still" and looked for the Files app in settings, etc. Then seeing it named Files in control center I was just disappointed. Oh well... hopefully lots of devs WILL adopt this feature, it has some serious potential.
Can't wait for 11.01
I hope we will see use of the files app in place of where apps previously offered iTunes Filesharing....apps can still have their own internal structures...but use this as the gateway in/out
Animations feel much slower/less nimble than iOS10.
Does anyone know how to view the purchased apps list in this newly designed App store?
It's on the Apps page in the top right corner: a round account button...
Very good just seeing that now! Thanks
Updated everything apart from the Air1 that will never be updated. Mostly works. Small as it is, love the new dock. Generally happy in an Eeyore way that nothing (significant to me) is too banjaxed. Inevitable hurdle largely cleared. Moving on etc.
App switching is fantastic. That and future potential of Files alone are a huge leap forward. Feels like an actual step forwards!
How do you stop the flippin’ Apple Music icon from continuously popping up on your dock?
Just saw the Bram Bos apps updated in the store, thought 'full screen AU's already?', but unfortunately not yet.
