  • TouchViz onsale from $9.99 to $4.99, looks like they do this about once a year around the holidays. Was updated 5 months ago and records output to camera roll now. (already posted this in a TouchViz thread, but it looks like this sale is pretty much annual insync with the holidays, going back to it's launch in 2011 - so I guess is qualifies for this thread too)

Messed around for about an hour last night and really like this one. Some automation, and fx reacting to frequencies/levels, etc. would be nice. However, it DOES now record your output and automatically saves the output to the camera roll in resolutions up to 1080HD. I've tried it. Works and looks good.

There's also a nice collection of built-in fx and sort of "playing" fx via an XY pad is cool. You can have one effect on source A, and different one on source B, and a third one on the master output. Each can be played/controlled separately, while adjusting fx blends, and various layer blends between the 2 sources.

You can also control it via midi, but I haven't tried that yet.

All in all, glad I took a $4.99 chance on this one. For me, it's a keeper :)

  • Nice was hoping for a Beathawk IAP sale
Still need about half the packs, 50 percent off hell yeah!

I hate to be that guy, but I picked it up for free a few months ago. Seriously.
However, 4.99 is a great deal. An incredible deal.

Thanks for the reminder. It was free for 3 days in Sept, but if anyone missed it, this is the lowest v2 has been priced.

Purchased Beathawk at release before it was an AU with no regrets they have a great sound library at a decent price that keeps growing.

Yes, I have no idea why they were giving it away then; I don't even remember a promotion attached to it. I was just fortunate enough to stumble across it. Dumb luck :p
As it is, it is certainly worth the full price, and the current sale price is a great bargain.

  • Modstep and Studiomux are on sale - why not Touchable huh?

  • Numerical Audio Apps on Sale too.
I think I will get the Delay FX AU. Is this any good?

  • RF-1 for 2,99. Useful enough?

Wow $4.99 for the app. I'm pretty sure that's a new low.

Beathawk was Free earlier this year

If you are prepared for an ‘artificial reverb’, then yes. It was marketed as such and properly so. It can have its uses but don’t expect a smooth all-purpose reverb...it is heavily on the artificial side.

Personal side note: I want to like this developer’s apps more than I do. Dunno if that means I’m drawn to them from a visual design standpoint or what.

Oh my ... Tap Delay is superb!
I certainly have no need for yet another delay, but picked it up because of the sale. It's now my hands-down favorite. What a gem. o:)

What do you like about it? I don't think I need another delay either ;) But simulating old tape is appealing. I bought Master Record for that and like it. How does Tape Delay compare to other's you have?

The step sequencer thingy is super cool and intuitive. You can kind of punch in the points where you want the delay to trigger. So, instead of just having a simple synced delay like a 1/2T(triplet) that's going to kick off on every note, you can have it trigger on certain beats - separately for the left and right channels. I can't describe it more accurately or technically than that (yet). All I can say is I could intuitively punch in what I wanted to hear.

The controls for adding in flavor like saturation, tape hiss (probably won't use this much), wobble, etc, are equally intuitive. It's just super easy to dial in the sound. I virtually always EQ my delays, and the three-band EQ on this is super easy to use - just enough control. Some have complained that there's no spectrum analyzer on the EQ. To that I just snort - "Really? You need that on the delay line?" That's way too OCD for me. That's what ears are for.

So far I've only used this on pre-recorded loops. I can't wait to try it in my guitar live FX chain. At this point I kind of doubt I'll use any other delay except for those times where I want a pure digital sound.

God, I sound like a giddy school girl. I'm embarrassing myself.

Oh, this does sound like fun. Just found the devs demo. Much more here than I thought.

  • iMidipatchbay half price too
    https://itunes.apple.com/app/id622204114?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo=4

    Anyone have this one?
I've always wondered whether I'd use this as it seems to have a crossover with the other midi apps.

Condider it as the DeLuxe version of MidiFlow made for primarily for live use. And it sure is very nicely, solid build, oozing quality. No doubt this it from the top shelf of CoreMIDI tools. However, there is no trace of AB3 MIDI here yet, suggesting some major makeover could be on the way. @JohannesD is after all the dev on this, and also the undisputed no 1 AB3 MIDI guru. Would be nice to know about the role of this beauty in the future world of AB3 MIDI, should there be one ...

Kauldron is great. I created a superb chunky patch with that one last night.

I have to agree. I was REALLY hesitant to buy Kauldron after having some issue with the thinness of Kaspar and Magellan, but decided to pull the trigger because I like Yonac so much. I figured I'd be as "meh" about Kauldron as I was the others.

    I was wrong.

Every time I fire it up, I remember "Oh yeah, I LIKE this synth. Why don't I use this more?" So I'm forcing myself to play around with it. I still like Zeeon and Mood more for the MiniMoog thing, but Kaspar is definitely worthy.

It’s a proper, chunky analogue synth. It could become my go-to when I need a clean, fat sound with a low CPU hit. My other favourite is Mood, but Kauldron is a lot quicker to patch.

Mood is really good but it drives me crazy in BM3, hit stop on the transport twice and it goes silent, makes me wonder if this is related to the bug @brambos squashed in Rozeta.

I believe hitting stop twice is meant as a kind of midi panic button. Personally, I like it. I have no temptation to hit stop twice, but it's super nice to be able to kill everything when needed. Of course a separate easily accessible panic button visible everywhere would be awesome.

This is sure better than the way it was before where you had to go menu diving to find the panic button while some stuck note is screaming at you.

[edit] actually, hitting stop twice is the way to return the play head to the beginning of the track in some daws, so I guess I can see your point. A separate button would be ideal. But still it's better than before.

[edit 2] I thought standard MIDI convention was to send a single "all notes off" message rather than a gazillion individual note-offs. I'm guessing they don't trust that and so did it this way.

I am pretty much always hitting stop twice in BM3 as I use long ‘one shot’ samples, I like it too.

  • Reg sampling in BM3 do you sample in 24 bit or 16? What’s recommendeded?

I do 24bit, mostly because I may want to zoom in on crickets sneezing and transpose them down a couple octaves etc.

I was really disappointed with the app, too stripped down and soundpacks sounded pretty bad, never ended up using them because nothing sounded good enough to be used as there are better sounds on ios.

To each, their own, but even if you don't like the sounds (most people do), BeatHawk works well as a sketchpad for capturing ideas and working out sections/arrangements. That's not just me, because others say the same. It's pretty versatile for getting data in and out, as well.

I dont know what it is about it, its also UI and pretty much everything about it that just doesent work for me. I rather use imaschine2(its rival on iphone), it has tons of better sounds, much better ui and everything except i/o is better than on beathawk. And im not a fan of imaschine either. I also think that most people form their opinion largely based on what they have been told, than lets say comparing these packs to best vsts or sound libraries on desktop.

No app is for everyone. There are other popular apps here that I don't particularly get into. But for $5, I seriously cannot think of a better value, except possibly GarageBand.
