When is Beathawk sale over?

Clueless noodling around by Doug, sorry. I think his older youtube videos have a better quality.
-1 Beg do differ - or I don’t beg. I just disagree.
Omenie's Sopranotron and Mellotronics apps are half price.
Agree it’s not that easy to pick up everything straightaway with GR but it’s definitely very playable when you get the workflow. Egoist is a classic for sure and is also great live as you can use the keyboard in slice mode to play the different slices, or you can use it with external sequencers. Also has AB3 midi out for the bass which is fun and useful.
I’ve been looking through the preset patterns and apart from the obvious sampled sounds like piano’s, guitars, stabs and the odd breakbeat sample it’s all the synth. It’s actually quite capable but there are no presets so you have to start with your waveform and build the sound from it. There’s also an interesting pattern called looped kick which creates a lead sound from modifying a small section of the kick sample like a single cycle waveform. Clever stuff and lots of possibilities here.
=1 I beg to agree with your disagreement
I don't really want to disparage Doug's videos. He's obviously got a lot of fans here. It's just the going though the presets thing doesn't really do it for me. The ability to translate an interface so that it's understandable to new users is a tricky and rare skill all by itself. There are a couple other video makers who are able to take an app, briefly tell me what the app is for. Distill the most important functions down and present them in a way that makes sense to those uninitiated, and manage do it all in a relatively short period of time.
The Pants of Death guy's videos work for me like this. After watching a roughly 10min PoD video, I know what the app is for, what it sounds like, how the foundational features and functions work, and what a few presets sound like. At the end of his videos, I know if the app is for me, how difficult it'll be to learn, and I'll know the basics in order to hit the ground running if I decide to buy the app. But, that's just me. Different strokes.
I DID think that Doug's video for the Senode app was the best out there. I liked the Pant's of Death video for Senode too, but Doug did a great job of completely going through that app in a way that left no questions at all. I think he gets in a hurry to publish videos quickly and doesn't get a chance to actually learn the app first. If he'd use his excellent Senode tutorial video as a model for his videos in general, and less of the preset-only approach, he'd gain another fan.
My god! Scheisse! I was miles away from my Mac. (sobbing)
(hysterical attacks)
Calling dr. Robert LoL
They're still on sale aren't they? I'm still showing Hybrid 3 and Vacuum Pro are still a $1 each.
You know, for many of us, just hearing Dougs voice make the heart beat slower.
It’s like when a cat jumps into your lap and falls asleep
He also does an immense lot of work. If not every video is to you’d liking, I bet you’ll find something somewhere that helps you... well I’m going back to my Christmas pudding and liquor. Cheers mate!
Since you took the plunge on Groove Rider and have read the manual, provide me a list of what you want to know and I’ll do a video.

The more involved, tutorial videos are certainly compelling. But Doug is never clueless.
I’m sure if you were to produce even one video that you consider to be informative, many people here would be keen to give it a play.
in future, look up his reviews as pantsofdeath.
Yeh! I'm surprised how much I'm really liking Hybrid 3!
synthQ and 76 Synthesizer are 50% off until Jan 2nd (or the end of Jan 1st, depending on your perspective).
I made a (very rough) general tutorial for SQ for a couple of users who requested it — if anyone is interested in checking it out here you go:

Thanks for this, I just updated the link — https://drive.google.com/open?id=1QD0UynJBy5R__xrj6EQx89ppBZj16Nrf
If it doesn't work, I'll upload it to my personal YT account.
ANOTHER EDIT: It appears that uploading iOS screen recording videos drop the microphone audio track, so you can hear audio from the synth, but not my voice. Sorry about that, going to try and remedy this soon.
I'm finding iOS11 screen recording is a bit flaky still. Some video/motion apps totally freak out by the odd, non-standard size the screen recording saves. I'm curious if loading up a screen recording into an editor like Lumafusion, then resaving the screen recording as a standard video resolution might alleviate some of the weirdness.
Both are very worthy synths. I'm particularly fond of the filter in 76 and often use it in the FX slot.
It's a first look video and Doug used to have it's hardware predecessor, if I'm remembering correctly, so I think he would know a reasonable amount about it's workings. Now go get some holiday fun.
+1 on using 76 in the fx slot. It's got a nice sound and I keep forgetting you can ALSO use it as an effect.
I ended up using QuickTime's screen recording feature to record the video playback — kind of annoying that I have to resort to this workaround. You can find the new video here:
Thank you very much
I'm glad people are still getting some use out of 76— the code for that is so old by this point that it might even benefit from a complete re-write (I would need all-new graphics for it though). Cheers!
I skipped all the posts after this. If you’re still deciding between Groove Rider and Egoist, go Egoist. I’ve used it before but never owned it til yesterday. It’s opened up my appreciation for sampling, and its ability to wring new melodies out of an already melodic sample.
For future reference you can buy stuff from plug in boutique on your iPad or whatever and then download to PC/Mac at your convenience.
