Oh, I meant MPC Live vs the Force. I might as well as use Ableton with Surface instead. It's basically the same thing.

  • ah I see, ,

the surface has me intrigued but if akai doesn't make a version of the force that's only slightly bigger than the deluge they are nuts... the force is deep they can really turn It into an instrument that people would want to pull out of their bags anywhere they are if they really want to

  • interesting mpc live hack

    gearslutz crosspost

"Using the XY beat repeat effect, you can basically capture a two bar loop, and with the effect latched, you can then go on to add effects after that loop. AND! Because you can put XY effects on each individual track, you can then head to another track and do the same. You can even do it on the live inputs as well

Mixing a few of these together and sampling the results is really great. I find it to be much more fun and creative than using the actual looper."

  • @kobamoto
hey, is this hack on the mpc live thread? i've just been on there, can you tell me what page?

  • I know this is around here somewhere, but just incase anyone missed it Tarekith kicks some rytm science for the people

  • Rytm science part 2 is sadly not as much fun.

a missed opportunity if they don't polish it up, but at least it's not the Toraiz sp-16

That track is fantastic, it makes me realize how much you can do with just that machine, and how much I wish I wasn’t traveling all the time so I could get back to it.

Also, is that you? So good.

Hihi, nope it not me but a super nice Norwegian guy (go give him a like 👍). I really dig his style and Im finding it hard not to buy one now!

  • Will do!

The Jogging House videos on YouTube are what sold me. Check his work out if you get a chance. He uses more that just the Takt but he’s doing really cool things. It’s on the Ambient side of the digi world.

  • it's getting harder and harder to resist an Octatrack, but model samples is such an incredible little beat machine that you just know the next flagship they kick out will have the power of the octa with the workflow of the Model samples...(hopefully), and with my luck it would get released the day I bought an octatrack lol

    I fucking love this.

Just hoping they can work out a happy place between the existing "kit" and "no kits" workflows. I love aspects of both; I love not thinking about kits when mucking with sounds/patterns on the DT and I love being able to save and recall kits on the Analog Keys. Conversely, I often wish I could quickly recall a kit on the DT and hate having to keep kits in mind when moving around on the Analog Keys.

    Think the dream is:

    • Automagic kit-per-pattern
    • User kits

So you can mess with a pattern's sounds as much as you like and they'll be recalled with the pattern. If you want to load a kit into a pattern, you can still do so. They could come from an explicitly saved User Kit or, possibly, from another pattern.

It would require twice(ish) the kit storage on the next versions of the devices but totally worth it imo. Both workflows are both fantastic and lacking in their own ways.

  • you mean kits the way the mOdeL samples does it?

octa is not too shabby dammit..

I really do love my Octa but I would say the fun factor of the Digitakt is a lot higher. Haven’t played with MS which looks incredibly fun. I would love to see them do an Octa Mk3 or a Digitakt 2 that takes the fun of one and the functionality of the other.

omg if they don't know this up there in elektron heaven then what do they know haha
I have a digitakt and love it but it's constantly jealous of my model sample, if the model sample could actually sample there would be trouble in Lala land

Then I think you would be less stoked with the Octa, mine gets jealous of the Digi for the same reasons.

Yes. Octatrack is like filling in an Excel spreadsheet, whereas the Digitakt is more like writing 58008 on your pocket calculator.
