I just laughed for two minutes straight.
I don’t think that months qualify as "a while".
And I think that all the major daws took several years to get polished.
My perspective is that a developer creates a product and can set the price of their product while I get to decide if I want to buy it.
Sales and promotional give aways are a part of marketing many products. Some people are dissatisfied with these practices as they don’t want to feel like their willingness to take a chance on a purchase only to have others get the same product later on after it’s been improved in part due to the feedback they’ve provided. They regret their initial purchase and feel the developer has not appreciated their willingness to support them early on in the process.
Personally, I feel the developers have a lot more invested in their app than I have as well as a lot more to lose if their marketing/pricing strategies don’t work out for them. I’ll have opinions about their choices yet I acknowledge that I’m in no position to tell them what’s in their best interest.
I don’t find it very useful to spend time comparing my purchase experience to that of other people’s nor their ability to get an app for free. I don’t see myself as getting or losing income, that directly effects the developer and doesn’t have anything to do with me directly. If a developer believes a particular marketing strategy is what they need to do, then I’ll respond to those moves based upon whether I believe they’re beneficial for me. Ultimately even if I don’t agree with the decisions a developer has made, the consequences and investment I’ve made in an app are relatively small so I try to bear this larger perspective in mind.
haha, you maniac
You disagree with something I never said? You must be very busy.
Clearly you have a dizzying intellect.
Since I’m pretty well set with my iOS music workflow(s), I wasn’t interested in BM3 when it was released. Going free, sure I grabbed it and I’ll purchase an IAP or two as a way of saying thanks. I’m not sure if I’ll use it much, but now that I have it on my iPad I’m interested in how it works and I’m going to spend some time with it.
I already explained
Ugh.
Great! Now I can see what all the freakin’ hype is about.
And an uncanny ability for sharp and witty comebacks too.
BM3 people love the app.
They support it.
I can say I am one. I bought it and the continued to support the app by buying almost all of the IAP at full price.
It is a little chunk of change.
First the IAP get bundled for a third of what I paid, not this.
This is kind of a bummer.
It feels kind of backwards.
I would like to see some offer of gratis or appreciation to BM3 users who have been on board with the app from day one.
I personally don't use apps because they are free.
I am interested into what app "Motivated" this move to grab up people.
New DAW?
NS3?
Not a logical business move by devaluation of your product for a stunt and rub your customers who paid the wrong way.
We shall see...
WTF is this? Gang up time again? Go back and read the whole conversation...
My 'ugh' = not getting in to this. Wasnt meant to be sharp or witty.
@lostress I've got to say that despite your moniker you're a massive stress attractor. I'm not following the conversation, just saying.
Ok fine. Bait taken. So what exactly DID you mean when you said iOS was different? In relation to what we were both saying right before you said it. Enlighten me.
People just hate being disagreed with and get needlessly upset or just don’t take time to read things properly. Petty...
@Iostress
I dig what you wrote here...
"Bm3 is taking a while cos it’s conceptually new. Same way as ableton early days. Ableton wasn’t born finished. I simply said that bm3 is taking a while to polish itself up but that intua are doing a great job and it’s headed for greatness."
Puts things in context.
As usual likely Blame is somewhere in the middle. Sometimes even if you convinced you're right it is good practice to let go. I'm the last word person with my miss (as is she) but it's such an energy drainer.
Look after your energy. We all should.
I was trying to do that by just writing ‘ugh’ instead of biting back and continuing a dumb argument after unnecessarily getting called a maniac and sarcastic remark about my intellect. But then someone else flies in to start shit about me writing ‘ugh’.....
I find it all quite amusing so all good.
Hehe, ugh is not a word but definitely a last word
Look after your energy. Wonderful. @supadom
No drama, please. Use whatever that is useful for you (not just you, in general). Or make you happy.
Just remember the air we breathe is free too.
Why do you need sample packs? Have you heard of the internet?
...
Haha yeah i guess so
I didn’t mean it like that though. I just meant ‘ok, thats enough of this for me now’
Quite true.
Also, people get testy here when their future purchase options are thwarted.
The maniac comment was in reference to you saying that I said it was a shitty platform when I never said anything like that.
I will just chalk this all up to potential regional differences in the term 'taking a while'. Where I work that is a criticism implying that it should have been done quicker and that the person is failing. The way you describe your usage of the term though is that it is taking the apropriate amount of time. I assume that is the crux of the difference here. Anyway, i get you are a fan of the app etc. All good.
I hope this opens up the iOS production avenue for the people who were wondering. Definitely a promotional thing but BM3 can showcase what’s possible on iOS. I’ve had so many people ask me how I’m creating music and they’re always surprised to hear that I do it all on my iPad. It just needs to be put out there more and us as consumers will benefit from it in the long run. BM3 free for NAAM is a good way to help
Yeh. Good one...sweet thread derail skills.
I'm not really that bummed that I spent $25 (or whatever it was) for an app that is now free. I'm a little bummed that I spent $25 on a DAW that I have failed to really get a firm grasp on in terms of workflow, and has not done much to differentiate itself from Cubasis, MultiTrackStudio, and Auria Pro, which I would probably use first (and in that order).
But part of that is on me - BM3 is really geared towards electronic music, sampling, and splicing/mashing, which really isn't my primary interest. It's a well-featured app, but there's just some maddening things about how they designed the behavior of loading instruments, drag-and-drop onto pads, etc. that cause me a lot of frustration.
How about thinking like this, all the people who get it for free now will start using it, post on forums, and YouTube.
This will mean more coverage and more publicity and so potentialy more sales after the free period ends???
This is exactly what I’m thinking. I actually want to do some YouTube videos on BM3 myself
