Wonderful offer from Intua. @mathieugarcia Hope the new users relish this opportunity to use a great app for mobile music production.
Thanks for giving everyone the opportunity to experience the gift you’ve given the world.

Taking a while? O_o
First it sounds like a wonderful deal but then it totally kills the value of such an app for me.
I guess it doesn´t sold well enough?!?
However, sounds crazy but i don´t find it good in any way.
@Iostress
One very cool thing that can't be disputed. After a few text messages to my siblings all my young nieces and nephews will now grow up in houses with BM3 on iPad if they wanna mess with it
I'd never have been able to pursuade them to pay for it so thats cheered me up today. Nice one @mathieugarcia
Thanks!
Yup, she's a fixer-uper
Intua are doing an amazing job so far
@AudioGus with the (appropriate) smackdown.
Doing an amazing job taking a while?
You’re cute.
Huh? If it's headed to desktop to compete with Ableton/Maschine..and/or reaper/protools. It needed some work, quite a lot actually, and still does. You don't think so?
I wonder how developers would feel in situations like this if people could get a refund on their purchased copy if they wished then went and downloaded the “free” version ? #justsayin’
BM3 is the basis for everything I do musically in iOS, reallly confusing news...
Are they moving to the "desktop" world? I don't think it is a good move because Ableton is "king" there (I am an old Ableton user since version 2). For me BM3 is the "Ableton for iOS"... I am really scared that they will focus in desktop and they will stop developing BM3 functionality for iOS...
Regarding the cost model in iOS, I have no idea about this topic so sorry because I will be probably wrong... Why they just don't follow the "trusted model" that all the developers are following since a lot of years in the desktop world? I would be more than happy to pay 2x or 3x the old cost of BM3 for a new version which is continuously developed... Why not develop new versions (apps) and just charge for them every 1-2 years?
Going back to the Ableton example, in my humble opinion Ableton since version 8 has all you need to create great music. But every 2-3 years Ableton releases a new version and I always upgrade because I know I need to support the Ableton development costs...
I guess that the problem is that people don't take iOS seriously so the sales are not enough to keep the costs...
I think that all the people that take iOS seriosly knows that tools like BM3, Zeeon etc. are "professional" tools and they have a cost... As an example, Syntronik with all the expansions is quite expensive so I am still saving money for it but I will definitely buy it when I can because I know it is a "professional" tool and I have to pay the value it has...
Probably I am too optimistic...
Sorry for the long post but as already explained BM3 is the center for everything I do in iOS, I foresee some future movements from INTUA in the future and it really scares me... But as always thanks so much INTUA form making such a great product and developing it with every version (which we get free)!!!
I don’t think it is ‘taking a while’.
Haters gonna hate and players gonna play with some new free Beats from Intua
‘Nuff said.
If you count the average time from 'buying a daw' > 'using a polished daw'... Yeah, it is taking a while... Most daws out there come ready made
I wasn't complaining about it but that is the truth of it.
And that didn’t piss you off? You were happy to pay twice for one thing? Could you send me some of that money you seem not to need?
I bought this on release, £20 or whatever it was. I’d rather still have that £20 in my pocket, and not have spent the first couple of weeks of use reporting bugs, but hey - I shan’t be jumping off any bridges.
I don’t use it, but it’s a great app. However, I think making it free at this point SERIOUSLY devalues the brand. And people who paid the full price - nearly £40, will not be celebrating.
If something is priced at zero, that will be its perceived value from that point.
Good app, crap marketing department.
Talking iOS?
Here’s an alternative way of thinking ‘some people getting the app for free’:
Many devs here have given their apps away for free at times as a way of promoting them - I have managed to pick up many! With this fact, keep in mind that many devs have admitted that the sales figures of apps drops off sharply after that initial release period, so putting BM3 for free may not be the drastic approach we may think it is.
Consider that many promotional code giveaways are pretty much through sites that us peeps go to - I.e they are preaching to the perverted! Lol. The idea may have been to encourage a different audience than us lot - admit it, most of us buy pretty much most every thing that comes out
Just talking DAWs and bm3 not being polished in comparison to other Daws yet. Didn’t say that it ‘should’ be polished by now. Only that it isn’t. Just the facts....
.
Slightly off topic, but just wanted to point out that Ableton 9 was released in March 2013. That means it has had a 5yr life cycle, with free updates during that whole time. Not bad really, + a discount for all license owners for an upgrade to live 10.
On topic, i have no problem at all with INTUA letting BM3 go free for a few days. It's a great way of getting some much needed exposure to a wider audience. Brilliant music making tool..........more power to them........
Yes
wow - It feels like we're all on Oprah:
"You get a Beatmaker 3!" "You get a Beatmaker 3" "Everybody gets a Beatmaker 3!!"
Maybe but it's a pretty deep app for us in the 'know' if a newbie gets it, it could scare them off.
Plenty of things to scare people off making iOS music lol
Oh. So you’re saying it’s a shitty platform where software can only be polished after release? I disagree with that but if that’s your opinion then fine.
Bm3 is taking a while cos it’s conceptually new. Same way as ableton early days. Ableton wasn’t born finished. I simply said that bm3 is taking a while to polish itself up but that intua are doing a great job and it’s headed for greatness. I didn’t complain about it. No need to get your knickers in a twist... you’re just arguing with yourself...fun?
Looks like recent purchasers on elektronauts are doing exactly that
refund and grab free....couple of posts about it....
