Thought I’d stick up a giveaway for the Octachron sale. Anyone know when that sale will end? The devs kept forgetting to answer that part when I asked!

    GIVEAWAY & AUDIO DEMO:

Octachron Midi Drum Sequencer by Octachron is on sale, currently only $3.99!

4 Copies of Octachron, which is available for iPad and M1 Macs, to give away with this short audio demo:

    https://youtube.com/shorts/eemkFPQ3-Qo

FOR FULL GIVEAWAY DETAILS SEE PINNED YT COMMENT

The comment contains the AppStore link and description, as well as links to the giveaways on Threads, Insta and Twitter. Winners will be announced in 2 days. Good luck!

  • I was one of the winners of the Gav giveaway and I have to say Octachron is amazing! I think most of the video tutorials don't give it enough credits. The interface is pretty slick and some features are great, like 32 steps (when most of sequencers have just 16), custom step length, easy CC customization, the smart randomizer which is very nice.
I would say it's one of the best I tried, and I like it even more than the DrumComputer sequencer which is already great.

I especially love the "create scale function", and I have a question for @TasTax: would it be possible to have per-pattern scales? It would be great to add variations when Octachron is sequencing a percussive synth instead of a "normal" drum machine or a sampler.

Also another suggestion would be to include "velocity ramping" (acceleration or deceleration) in the step repeats, like in Steppolyarp, that function is great.

Hey @unlink , congrats to your win and thank you very much for your nice words. Really glad you like Octachron. ✌️😊
And yes, our two next big features will be up to 16 tracks and the iPhone version.
But your suggestions absolutely make sense and we will put them on our list.
Do you maybe also have an social media account where are you post jams once in a while? Would be interesting.

Anyway, keep enjoying and we appreciate of course when you are speaking out for us 🙂
    Best greetings from Munich
    Tas

And @Gavinski , thx a lot again for the nice giveaway!

That great! But there are workarounds for more tracks. There is however no workaround for offset notes. Which for people like me is mandatory in 90% of the cases when I’m making music.

But I can imagine changing the resolution of the sequencer might be more work than adding tracks.

However when you decide to add offset per note, please don’t do it in the novation way with only 6 microsteps to choose from. Elektron, Roland and Akai have a much better implementation.
But I believe because of the graphic interface you would have a great implementation of this feature just like drambo does.

    Hey @Crano

Yes, of course that’s true. But 16 tracks were just the most asked for feature beside a phone version, so we decided to go for that first.
But we really want to go for offset as well.

    We thought about:

    • Implementing it similar to the intern modulation parameters like e.g. velocity
    • unit: milliseconds
    • range: plus and minus 500 ms (or less?) for each step, Starting with 0 in the middle

Or what do you think would be good units and numbers and a good implementation?

Thanks a lot for the support and best greetings from Munich 😊
    Tas

Drambo has a section for Offset in the step components section. And midiDrums offers a swing slider with resolution settings and a lens slider for finer control. Twin 3 offers a swing/legato in which you can place the note where you’d like it to fall, in relationship to the other notes.

  • Loving Octachron here, perfect for my polyrhythm experiments 😍

Really enjoying Octachron. A quick jam in Loopy using Tera Pro+Octachron+ODC+Combustor+Cascade (and some mLFO to spice things up).

    Hey @Synthi !

Thank you very much. Really glad to hear that. And if you have some time, it would be absolutely awesome if you could drop us a little nice review on the App Store. This just helps us so much!

Keep enjoying the best greetings from Munich! ✌️😊

Hey @GRiker , no, sorry, but actually preset patterns are not planned yet. Next update is the possibility of up to 16 tracks. And we also plan to release the iPhone version this year. But you can generate random patterns with the smart randomizer. Please also see the manual via the Octachron Logo menu. Hope that helps. And if you have more questions, best thing is to ask here. Enjoy and best greetings from Munich 🙂 Tas

    Hey everybody! ✌️😊

It’s been quite a while since the last update, I hope you also all enjoyed the summer.
Our next version of Octachron with the often wished for up to 16 tracks is coming soon. And we also going to feature some new mappings in there, like: Koalasampler, Hammerhead, and the new BlipBox from Sketchaudio (that you can see in the screenshot).
But we would also like to integrate even more, if you can help us with that?
More iPad Drum Apps but also Hardware like e.g. an Arturia Drumbrute or a Roland TR-08 or something would be great!

If you have, just post the category and name of the maschine and then up to 16 🙂 MIDI connections, instrument names and MIDI notes, like:

App Hammerhead: (we already have that)

    Kick 36, Snare 38, Clap 39 …

    Hardware Arturia Drumbrute:

    Kick …, Snare …, Clap … …

Do you maybe have some mappings for us? That would be so cool 🎶😎

Looking very forward to your response, best greetings from Munich 😊

For an extra challenge: Volca Beats doesn't respond to velocity messages, but CC 40-49 send level information to the 10 parts (see http://i.korg.com/uploads/Support/USA_volcabeats_MIDI_Chart_E.pdf) so you could support velocity in that way. I suppose that's a bit bigger than creating a new note mapping

Thinking BM3, NS2, Beathawk, Sampletank, Caustic, Seekbeats, DrumJam, Skiiid, Arturia iSpark, Flip Sampler, Werkbench, GrooveBox (Ampify + Bleass), Sunvox, Gadget, iM1, iElectribe, iMS-20, iPolySix, PureAcid, GR16, Rebirth, Egoist, DM1, DM2, DrumLab, Patterning, Drum Session, LumBeats stuff

That's a whole lot of options and not sure which would apply or have proper implementation.

Nice. It's a better option than I start putting all these things here. Maybe some apps are too old-ish and not so relevant for most users. If y'all decide which ones are valid, I can help from my side

    Or not so much?

Yes, here is our code snippet for the presets that are coming with our next update for either the 4x4 or the 2x8 view of koala. You only need the number of the koala pad (title) and the corresponding midi note. Does that help?

    case .koala_4x4:

    notes.append(NoteListItem(note: 48, title: "(1)"))
