  • But you can trim the tails in loopy if I am not mistaken for an easy fix?

  • Thanks @ChrisG I hope they do add exporting trimmed loops as an option or midi sync and Audiobus support.

@Tritonman2 I can't find an option to trim the loops in LoopHD.
For now I will just have to trim the loops in another app,bit of a workflow killer though !

  • I believe you just put two fingers on the loop and twist to the left to trim.. It has been awhile since I have used Loopy but I do remember it was pretty easy to trim back a loop.

  • I don't think you can trim loops in LoopyHD... two fingers and twisting just adjust the start time of the loop.

  • If you pick up Samplr I do know that will trim your loops very nicely.

  • 8 bars? Really? Is it anything more than a sketchpad?

  • turn off Loop during recording and you can record more than 8 bars. as many as you like.

I've tried to export a short loop from Gadget to LoopyHD,without much success.
The loop gets imported Via General past board, but there is a big gap at the end of the audio so the loops have a silent portion.

Has anyone else tried exporting loops from Gadget ?

You can trim it with AudioShare. Just enter the BPM and # of bars.

  • You can record much more than 8 bars once you learn how. I believe there is a tutorial in this thread on how to do that even. MeZanook also went into this subject on his youtube page.

  • You can do more than 8 bars in loop mode also. If you are in 4/4 for example, change to 8/4 for 16 bars and so on up to 64 bars I believe just remember to halve your tempo each time you double the bars.

    Really? Samplr can trim? How?

You don't mean slice do you? I know it can slice. But not trim as far as I know. Wich is bugging me from the beginning. So please tell me Im stupid and Samplr can trim! :)

  • Sorry if this has been answered already but what are the current options for exporting audio from Gadget? No AB or IAA so what's the best option for getting a cool loop in Gadget and then manipulating it in something like Samplr?

Oh, and does it "talk" to other apps like Thesys?

I'd like Samplr to trim a sample too.

  • Not a user of Sampler too much really, and I do Most of my file manipulation within cubasis through audiobus. Its great having the external effect choice now. It really is becoming better all the time with some exeptions for some more than others, but none the less. I played with Sampler a bit but I know now it was not enough to remember that for instance.

  • If Samplr had basic audio-editor features, it would be a wrap. I've wished for that day for months now...

  • Is anyone else having this issue? With Gadget playing a song, if I double-click the Home button and go to another app and then return to Gadget it will have stopped playing and reverted to the mixer screen, even though I have background audio turned on in the settings. I'm running an iPad Air and it's jailbroken, I wonder if that's part of the problem?

Same here. Having to audio paste stuff around between apps is a holy pain. I'm not a developer bus seems like a relatively easy feature to implement in the grand scheme of things. Also a monumental omission in an app that works with samples.

    No issues here. Unjailbroken air.

  • Thanks Supadom. I removed one app, Controllers for All and that fixed my problems. Very strange that an app that is designed to allow me to use a PS3 controller with my iPad through Bluetooth would affect a music app.

  • Hey - folks - a thought. Over on the Korg Gadget FB page, someone suggested that Korg actually make these instruments for real and sell them for about $69 each. What do you think? Would it fly? If it happened - what would be your first purchase? It's an interesting idea and Korg is definitely up for producing small gadgets for "real".

  • Interesting idea, but I wouldn't buy them personally, as I find it more convenient (and cheaper) to have it all on the iPad. I can clearly see that different gadgets will appeal to users with different musical tastes - my personal favs include Berlin (great for lead and bass sounds), Kiev (for atmospheric pads), Wolfsburg (very versatile general synth for mono and poly sounds), plus Marseiles and London for bread and butter sounds and drums.

  • Not sure how you could pull off a seqeuncer with automation for each device for only $69 !

  • edited February 2014

@Tarekith - sure - agreed - but for cheap individual synths with characteristic style it might work - just like the Volcas perhaps but sequenced externally not necessarily built in. I know I'd be interested in one or two (or more :-) ) of these as individual boxes.

That is exactly the reason i would not jailbreak.cause you never know what's going on in the backround if you break up the sandbox thingy ;-) And you lose your demand on developer support.

  • I like this... @korg_iapps: Gadget Tips (26) Noticed the "Note Fold" function? You can filter out unnecessary notes in the piano roll editor! http://t.co/qldej7YbX9

Yea me too. Hadn't noticed it before, but definitely makes editing the piano roll easier. I'm not liking the "function" button though. I feel they could streamline the editing part of Gadget a bit more, having access to various common functions without the need for pressing any buttons to get to the function you're looking for. I mean, there certainly is enough space on the screen for it. Swipe and touch gestures could be another thing.

  • @ChrisG I could live with function if they gave us landscape mode. Anyway, let's see what we get in 10 days or so.

  • I love the fact you can create a basic track whilst sat in front of the fire on your bean bag....

    Some bean bag beats ;)

  • @DaveMagoo nice work whilst relaxing by the fire. I like it.

  • More great work from Mee Zanook...
