@yowza nope, tweak time signatures too so not tied to 4/4

Caustic getting the beating, I like that.

Why would that be good I am curious?

  • hahaha "Brostep" was officially used as a genre name in that Music Radar writeup for the "Miami" synth

Are scales user programmable like animoog/megellan, or is it a list of generally useless scales?

I tried to track down a manual on the site but couldn't find it. Anyone see it?

Can't wait to hear user demos. I think we're stepping through a doorway right now which is going to crush old limitations we've been working around.

  • I like the Tabletop/Reason-like all-in-one environment approach about it but they really need to include a sampler gadget for the price they're asking for, in order for me to pull the trigger.

They should throw in an Electribe SX-style sampler with realtime timestretch and a beat slicer like Electrify NXT.

  • Geez, you don't want much for $30 do ya?

Korg Gadget is very good. I liked what I seen so I bought it and I am enjoying it. Caustic 3 is still my favourite music making app but I can see Korg Gadget being up there as one of my favourites too.

I'd like to see the old Korg synths like Wavestation and M1 on the app as a gadget and landscape mode supported.

I am looking forward to IAA and Audiobus support. I am really digging this. Great stuff!

    Quite literarily FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION

Oh, I see that kind of thing a lot unfortunately.

  • I've been having fun for the last few hours...

  • I just heard a kronos user say how outstanding these synths sound compared to the kronos even.
Nice stuff Trueyorky, thanks for sharing it. I hope to hear more soon.

  • No landscape mode? I hate portrait.

Of course Sir, I'm sorry Sir! Will stick to 4/4 from now on. Will promise not to listen to any of that avant grade music. Will burn all of my Manu Katche and Esbjorn Svensson records. Dirty stuff!

  • There are no effects besides the ones in the sound modules which can be of course automated.
There are no arps, chord generators or midi helpers for all modules. Some modules have that.
The only global fx is a non-adjustable reverb.

I can see myself recording tracks into bm2,auria, cubasis and applying effects in these hosts or just get on with it and recording them into live or studio one via an iconnect2+ or soundcloud.

Gadget is to sketch out ideas. And very much fun in doing so.
But it is not an ideal island daw, yet!

If you have enough toys to make sounds you don´t really need this.

I love being reminded that in each of these cities there are synth and electronic music lovers right now and playing with Gadget.
It seems Korg forgot Australia, Afrika and South-America but maybe there are not many famous synthbuilders there.
Ken Macbeth representing Dublin can be proud. Someone should mail him a screenshot of the Dublin gadget :-)

  • Don't forget that it just arrived in the shop today, and Korg states that they have great plans for future updates. Likely to see new cities on the gadget map.

At least you admitted to that and I'm not expecting more thanks.

    .

  • This looks very promising, can't wait to give it a go tonight. This might finally be something I can perform with groovebox style.

Yes - I had the same trouble - seems like the groceries, gas and stove wood are going to have to wait ;-)

  • 20 below zero here in north ny , I need my wood. lol

  • That's cold @Tritonman2. F or C? We had 3 days 46C week I'm not sure either are very pleasant.

$30 for groceries, gas, wood? Sheesh! its cheap where you live :)

  • -20F it was -30 the last two mornings here. I have two wood stoves and 137 acres of mostly wood lot. I am not afraid..... heheheh
Here is another gadget video. If I keep watching these I'm gonna be using my iTunes cards up.

  • Oops, what did I do? Why is this app suddenly downloading to my ipad mini?
Talk about fate, no wonder i suddenly had the urge to upgrade to ios 7 just last night. The timing was Freaking PERFECT!!!
Just waiting for the download to finish!

  • I'm having to hold off. I don't have the space, and I'm saving for a new set of headphones--most likely either:

    • Beyerdynamic DT-770-PRO-32 Closed Dynamic Headphone for Mobile Control and Monitoring Applications, 32 Ohms

    Or

    • Audio-Technica ATH-M50S Professional Studio Monitor Headphones

At some point, I'll have to break down and make the jump to a new iPad, but I'm hoping a 2GB RAM model is out by then. :-)

  • -15 below here tonight...need my wood also but cab prob squeeze a Gadget from somewhere :)

  • Holy sound overload Batman, this thing sounds amazing. I've not yet tried recording because there are so freaking many fantastic sounds in here! Full , beautiful, rich and beafy, dreamy , sweeping and any other adjective u could dream up. Howmin the hell did they make these modules so darned great sounding?

  • Before I pull the trigger, I have some questions:

    • does it have a sampler that I can c/p my own drum sounds or loops into?
    • can it play virtual midi out to another app?
    • how easy is it to export the tracks to another daw (like Auria) for final mixing?

Loving the sounds I'm hearing so far...

  • no sampler as of yet but there are more gadgets coming. It has audio copy and paste I believe but check the specs on the web site to be sure and it is getting audiobus support so exporting is a definite. Midi in but not out as far as I know. Also can upload to soundcloud.
