    Whoa, Just found this:

    Lots of Nysthi modules used.

And, for me, this is not a "modular environment" and I don't need miRack for this.

But I understand the different approach.

At least, my conception on modular isn't try to replicated some scenario that I have done with Auv3 o with a lot of synths.

I think the chance of Vult being added are a solid zero. He has made it clear that he’s not on board with the project unfortunately.

Where did he say that? He's not interested at the moment in doing the work required to support another platform. This may or may not change in the future.

@mifki I know this will be low level in the general scheme of things but I love to see an option for internal sample rate of 96khz for some sweet sounds. Multi threaded cores on a ipad pro might be able to handle this.

This is rather simple, I can do some tests on iPad Pro and if reasonably-sized patches work, then add this option.

  • Oh, and about SquinkyLabs Functional VCO: I actually hid it long time ago because it has the same improvements to Fundamental VCO which I've added to it myself, so they were exactly the same. But since it also has pretty much the same graphics, I guess I'd better not put it back.

  • @mifki well he was the first one to raise alarms on the VCV FB page was he not? Am I making that up?

  • It’s a shame Vult isn’t coming soon. His filters are the best and miRack could use some more VCFs.

Yes and no - he was, but then was my explanatory community forums post and we also discussed all this via email. He's a nice guy, just more interested in hardware modules now than working on porting the code.

He's a nice guy. I've actually collaborated with him in designing one of his multimode vco's. The triangle wave is actually based on my 0-coasts recordings before it was passed through his optimisation algorithm :) they're quite CPU heavy but that's also what makes them sound so good. Hopefully someday at least his free modules will be ported.

Also. He's pretty much trying to make money full time off his hardware modules and software and hence why his dsp isn't open source now.
I'll see if I can convince him to port to miRack at some point :)

MSM modules have been made open-source and will be included in the next update. (Previously just several modules that were open-source long time ago were available in the app.) Big thanks to the developer!

Ah well even if Vult doesn’t make it into VCV that is GREAT news!

Such a bummer, the problem between vcvrack. and mirack. I was so stoked when mirack came out, as you could do testing a patches while away from a computer and all. They totally complement each other, and each gains from having the other existing. Most likely, anyone who has one will get the other, and the app can only make the full version more known. I hope a deal can be made where both parties get more from the sum of their amazing effort. I love those two “eurorack” equally.

Let's wait for the heated minds to calm down (hopefully). We have not only had the chance to follow some parts of private discussions between them, but we have also expressed our opinions and I can only say that reading in both forums, to me it's clear that people love and support both incarnations. And isn't this what open source development is about?
The spirit of open source projects is a very gratifying one and once @mifki has found a way to expand VCVrack and pay his bills without violating the newer VCVrack licenses, chances are that miRack would turn into "VCVrack for iOS" one day.

  • Does MiRack include the What The Rack modules?

  • @gusgranite I just updated and no, doesn't look like it (looked up by name and dev name)

They are a great for beginners like me. They choose a selection of core modules to build from according to the basic building blocks of getting a sound. Always different. Endless variety. I always use them to start a new VCV session.

@mifki thanks for the quick answer :)

I hope you're right about the Vult modules. I'm a big fan of those.

About the Fundamental series, too bad it had to be this way. Sure the modules are teorically not needed as there are similar modules, but I really miss the "snappy" envelopes and the somewhat agressive VCA for drum sounds. Bogaudio envelopes are great but a bit slow for this purpose. I've tested all the other available EGs and none seems to have an Attack as fast as the Fundamental ADSR. So all my new drum pathes are sounding a bit loose now... Hope more fast EGs will come to the system in the future.

And congrats again for such a great app!

Mifki any chance of bringing back those basic modules but with different artwork?

  • edited October 2019

FWIW @mifki i have no interest in an iPhone port. Honestly, with the amount of work you have potentially ahead of you on this great app, I’d focus on solely supporting the iPad.

I’m just looking out for you. An iPhone port of miRack would be a nightmare for you and probably kill any sort of real progress and innovation you could make on the app. As a single developer you only have so much energy to support the iPad platform...and I’d love for you to be able to properly manage your resource (ie, yourself) to the fullest.

Work smarter not harder. Focus on what’s best for miRack and your 1 person shop.

Given the trouble he’s had to deal with and the rigid attitudes of some people involved, I would say it’s best to leave it alone and move on for now. IMO.

  • One thing about the removal of the F****mental modules. I don't mind them being removed but if I open an old project that uses a few of them, they only show as a yellow box with in and out modules. The problem is that I have no idea what to replace them with because I don't know what they were anymore.

Any change we could get the name written on the yellow box to aid in fixing up old projects @mifki ?

  • Jocphone - if you 2 finger click on a yellow module you will get a drop down menu which will tell you the name of that module. From there you will be able to replace it with an alternative, if one exists.

Ah thanks @Daub ! Didn't think of that

  • There's a new beta build with several new modules (including Geodesics) and quite a few assorted UI/UX improvements. Just in case some people not receiving/missed TestFlight notifications.

  • I’m sending feedback via TestFlight.
    Hope they get thru ;-)

Oh please don't :) It's a terrible feature - I don't get notifications, don't see names, and can't reply other than via email anyway. At least I see email address, I'm sending you email now.
