  • I gave up. Reinstalled 3 times. Still crackle sound on auv3fx.
Maybe is the iPad Pro 2018 the problem.

  • @Charlesalbert force 44.1k in ZB's plugins settings? The iPad pro is 48k natively.

  • loading the key into the app worked now and even pretty fast this time (no idea why), thx again for your help

    Try foce 44.1. K
But I also get crackles when I add effects which is strange.
And I have to relaunch the app when that happens

@MatthewAtStagelight, are you aware of an issue where upon reopening a saved song, drum sounds are absent on play even though the sequencer midi is still there? Have to go reload the kit (or any kit) and sound is restored.

I’ll go put in a ticket if that hasn’t already been reported.

  • Perhaps Roland could provide a manual for this. I know that there are video tutorials, but I would prefer a document...

  • @MatthewAtStagelight what about the SampleVersa packs, has that issue being fixed.

  • Hey @Rodolfo

Yes, If you go to us.openlabs.com and regenerate your key, then re-import it to Zenbeats, if should now include the Sampleverse packs

Wow. I have ZenBeats installed with all assets downloading on:

    MacBook
    iPhone
    iPad
    ChromeBook

Is there a simple way to share projects between device types? Let's hope Roland ports their synths to this "Store" and addition to the Roland Cloud instances. I'm trialing the Roland Cloud and the Synths are perfect re-creations of the Classic Roland hardware products (D-50, Jupiter 8, SRX, etc). It would be a walled garden but have the benefit of hardware independence using the same credentials.

Assuming you aren’t using AU or AUv3 then if you save your work to the cloud eg onedrive then you can just load it from there on any of the other devices.
Other wise you are going to have to make audio versions of tracks with system exclusive content

There's a more direct option, and it works for any device on any platform except Chromebooks: Open the song. Open Zenbeats on the other device. Go to the menu > Song > Export > Transfer Song. You should see the other device. Select it, then press Transfer. Done.

Freeze any tracks that you don't have the AU's for on the other device first.

  • @MatthewAtZenbeats any news about region lock?

  • edited September 2019

    Still same issues

    • midi in works only for selected track
    • When drawing notes by holding and swipe right it creates notes ,but you can’t change any parameters on some (velocity, pitch etc) . edit (disabling grind lets you edit them :) :)
    • iCloud Drive must be enabled for browsing samples
    • Weird behavior when setting loop region and mess with pitch, stretch on audio tracks. Audio sometimes gets muted for part of region. Can’t always reproduce it.
    • Zooming on the waveform of the sample to make fine adjustments causes the waveform to disappear.
    • Region selected on a sample drum does not reflect the actual part of the played drum sound when on reverse & vinyl mode .

Nope , it doesn’t work. You can easily confirm this by disabling iCloud Drive ,open Zenbeats, add SampleVerse and open a sample ;)

  • I can’t actually see a way to disable iCloud Drive anyway.

  • Somehow, I cannot see a midi input ‘port’ for my instruments.. must be me..

You have to set them on ZenBeats first. But don't get excited since midi in only works for the currently selected track (speaking of midi, no midi out either and no AU midi).
Hopefully now Roland will fix it

Fantastic! Thanks for letting me know.

  • This might be of interest to those who had Stagelight on Windows as well as iOS.

‘You can add the sounds from Stagelight manually in Windows. Locate the Open Labs Library folder, It should be located in Users/Public/Documents/OpenLabs library.

You will want to move the contents Audio Samples and Drum kits corresponding folders in the Zenbeats user folder. It should be located in users/your user name/Zenbeats user.

These packs will not appear in the My Stuff section of the in app store, but they will be available to use in the audio and drum sounds browsers.’

You can also then copy the files into the appropriate places on iOS I should imagine, but I haven’t tested that yet.

Been playing with the free version of Zenbeats quite a bit and I'm really digging the Ableton-like clip-based workflow. Stagelight was always on my radar before, but for whatever reason it took the publicity of the move to Roland to get me to finally try it out.

My main tool right now is NS2, and I like its MIDI editing better than Zenbeats, but I'm missing audio tracks more and more lately and those seem indeterminately far off in NS2... So, good audio support + clip launcher is making Zenbeats look appealing.

Bottom line is I'm almost on board, and even contemplating the crazy prospect of dropping $100 on the whole enchilada! I have a few questions before I pull the trigger, which I haven't been able to find answers to.

    For anyone in the know:

    • If I just buy the unlock now, does the whole enchilada get $15 cheaper, or do I have to decide up front whether to take a bite or put on my bib and tuck in for the whole thing? If I knew I could upgrade for cheaper later, I'd have already bought the unlock and answered the next question for myself. :-)

    • Are there any big AU limitations I should be aware of? NS2 has pretty good support for AUs, but there are some annoying limitations, like no CCs sent to MIDI AUs and no channel info sent to any AUs. Anything similar for Zenbeats?

    For @MatthewAtZenbeats:

    • Will there be an update to take advantage of the full screen on the iPad Pro 2018?

    • Is there any hope of a Linux version? That's typically a longshot, but since being cross-platform is a selling point of Zenbeats, I figured there might be a better chance than usual! That would be a killer feature for one person (me), at least.

  • I am finding this more usable, possibly just because I changed its skin to something that I like more. One basic question: In the song, there is the clip view and the more linear track view, but they don’t have any interaction that I can see. It seems that you can really have two different songs going per song. What is the rationale behind this and what are possible use cases for this? Can you paste from one view into the other? I am finding this to be a head scratcher...

I thought you could record a performance of the loops onto the timeline but I was wrong or I just can’t remember how..

  • I hadn’t used Stagelight prior to this, but downloaded ZenBeats to give it a try. Pretty impressive to he honest. Great job by the devs. I can see why Roland acquired this.

That being said, I am having some issues. Navigating the file system is sort of a nightmare. I’m getting weirdness with the drop down box and its all white and very difficult to see. Then other times completely black. ?????? I’m not the kind of person who buys prepackaged soundsets, I have a MASSIVE custom library. So getting my own stuff in is extremely important. The import protocol needs to be simplified IMO.

Also, Is there a way to have ZenBeats be the MIDI Clock master? I need to be able to slave external hardware for recording audio.

Again, great job by the devs. I’m still fumbling around, but I can see the potential here.

    Cheers.

  • @ALB you can record the scene performances on the timeline or just copy paste stuff ;)

    @CF3 post a screenshot

@walkie you can resize the interface in the settings . If you can’t find it post back. Check the bugs I mentioned in previous page for midi and AU . As for Linux it used to work via wine (not native) , but with no multitouch support (wine limitation)

  • @BiancaNeve said:
    Nope I was wrong

For drum kits that you have on desktop, you can 'Save As' and they will appear in your user folder. You can the copy these files to your iOS Zenbeats user drum kits folder and they will be available. When you do a save as like this, the samples are included in the saved file.

Long press on the record button gives you an option menu including record to timeline.

‘Long press on the record button gives you an option menu including record to timeline.’ Thanks @purpan2

  • @Korakios thanks very much. so from what I gather, the workflows could be:
1)Start/play the song in the loop part and record to timeline part
    2) use the loops part solely as a live instrument and forget about the timeline.
    3) play solely in the timeline and forget about the loops.

Can you move any tracks of the timeline into the loop area?

Also, how does one move audio from AudioShare into the app itself? Was able to move wav files into SampleVerse, but unable to figure out how to move an audio file into the user library itself.

Thanks in advance. I went through the app tutorials, but did not see answers. Sorry for the long post...
