But you cannot just import a midi file (unless it’s a file type 0.. or is it file type 1?) into a song... you need to import from the main menu, thus creating a new song.. me think?
Nope.
You just need to go to the timeline and select the hamburger menu, then Song > Import > Import Midi File. New tracks are added to the song, but the rest of the song isn't touched.
This may be why long-press and import isn't working in the clip view for me though. My midi files are creating two tracks (one empty). It would be good if there was some way the long-press could still work, but either let you select which track to import, or merge them all into one track even.
Just a Heads up for all.... I am creating a dedicated Discord Server just for ZenBeats. It should be ready to go later this week.. time to build up a community for it and a place to share tips tricks and creations. I know some might not like the idea, but its just an alternative to interact more.
I will post link later for us.
Great. Invite Roland's crew
anyone know if there is a way to do slides in the piano roll?
I just got the Audio Kit 808 app. I'm not into 808 heavy music and I don't really know anything about 808s besides using an 808 drum machine the intended way but I'm watching tutorials on making 808 basslines etc and everyone is talking about using slides in other DAWs just seeing how or if that translates to Zenbeats
Overlap notes. That works in most sequencers. The synth has to be mono and have glide active. I don’t have that app installed now so I can’t get more specific.
Thanks. The app definitely has glide parameters. All the tutorials I watched were using FL Studio and there is an option to turn on slide for notes in the piano roll but all of the tutorials were also using samples so that probably is different
I always preferred glide being enabled in the synth like in the old hardware days!

Yes, FL Studio is one of the few piano rolls that has a "slide" mechanism. But that only works for its internal plugins, not for third-party VST's. I suppose one could try automating pitch bend, but the usual way to go about it is as @anickt says.
next question, is there any way to do sidechain compression in Zenbeats?
I'm signed up for the intro class on Thursday and advanced next week!

I know it’s no help but it’s working as expected for me...
So it works if I start fresh.... but does it work when you already have a track going?
I had a track in linear. Copied pattern to loop mode. Duped and made changes. Works as expected.
FYI - I just got around to using my external controller (Impact LX25+) with Zenbeats. I was able to MIDI learn and record automation to timeline with Eventide Mangleverb. Will try others when I get a chance.
Another great session with Roland product specialists today. They have some interesting things on the way with Zenbeats. Recently found out that I can record 3rd party AUfx automation to timeline with an external controller and have multiple time signatures in a project. Check out a session if you get a chance. Direct interactive presentation and Q&A with the folks from Roland.

OK, now I’m interested.
I’m going all in on it. The classes are great. The devs are great. And I see a solid future here.
Yep, I was there. Instructor is excellent. And yes learned that time signature can be different for different clips in a project.
Is external controller required to have multiple time sig? That sounds like I got that wrong but it’s all in one sentence in your post...how do you make the multiple time sig work? I couldnt get different time signatures setup in the clip view but that may be, likely is, user error. Thanks for any help you can lend.
The external controller is for the automation. You MIDI learn on the fx parameters page and then use automation record. I intend to spend more time on this today. I just started using my controller with ZB.
I’ve only done time sig changes on linear but I imagine it works in clip mode. In linear the time sig will change wherever the playhead is when you change the time sig setting. Say you start a new project in 4/4. Place the playhead at measure 9 (for instance) and then change the time sig setting to 3/4. The first 8 measures will be 4/4 and everything after that will be 3/4. Then do the same thing to change again. Haven’t checked clip mode yet but I imagine you just select a clip and change the time sig setting which will then apply to that clip.
Change time signature and then create a new clip. Each clip can have a different time signature even in the same column. Gonna have to spend some time with this.
Has anyone been able to import any type of SFZ file into sampleverse??? I have tried about 4-5 and some crash and others just wont load.
Thanks
Some have worked for me and some haven’t. I think they’re more trouble than they’re worth. I bought some of the preset packs for Sampleverse and also imported wav files I made from iM1. Got more satisfaction out of those for less work. 😆
I downloaded a 500 MB pack of sfz files and had to wade through multiple folders to get to the sfz file and samples and they didn’t work. I just deleted them. 🤪
Yes I’m seeing that now.
Is there a way to display all of the notes on keys in piano roll for those of us that don't play piano? In regular view I don't get any notes displayed and in key lock mode I only get the root note displayed. Probably should have asked when I took the beginner class last week
Yes. Pull up keys and go to the settings app and select all notes and it will also show in piano roll.

See pics here:
And come join us on the new zenbeats discord server

Awesome, thanks! I never even open the keyboard because I just draw in notes so that's why I never found it. I'll join the discord too
I hope that Zenbeats will I add the option to show the notes when you’re just inside the piano roll because I’m not a keys player as well it’s just one more step we have to take to get to show the notes
New update out, which has loads of good stuff, including the ability to scan all my plugins without crashing! Hopefully something similar is coming for the Mac too, as I can’t get through a scan at all at present. Seems related to the Steinberg elicenser software not loading properly during the scan, despite working fine to authorise licenses externally.
