Also I don’t find this feature fun to use in Zenbeats or any other host. It’s so much quicker and easier to add an instance of an AU. Like with Ruismaker - having one track for the majority of the instruments and one just for snare (for instance) is much more manageable for me. IMHO
In ZB I prefer to just use the built-in drum machine which allows you to apply fx to each instrument. So much more direct and plenty of kits to choose from.
+1
When I tested with Ruismaker a few weeks ago and put every drum sound on its own sub track you could still hear all of the drums when you solo a track so it wasn't really working
Then I started using the built in drum machine and realized how awesome it is. You can not only apply multiple fx to each individual drum sound but you can also automate like a dozen parameters per drum sound which really lets you make some cool beats
What issue are you having? I've been importing midi files for all of my instruments with no problems. I'm using the midis for external instruments not built in ones
Give me a minute I’m out walking my dog when I get home I’ll show you or send you a Simple midi file that I’m having problems with
The soloing actually does work properly but I’m too lazy to explain! 😆
But, as you say, the built in drum machine is very powerful and easy to use. I’d rather just use that and get on with it than futz around with cobbling multiple apps together. Since ZB does everything I’ve been looking for I use other things less and less.
I’m importing files that I could not import before at the track level..
Thank you! Great news!
Long press on the track to get the popup menu, and you'll see it. I guess it's only for multi-output plugins, though it came up for me with the non-multi output version of Ruismaker.
Is this possible...yet? I would like to have Rozeta drive Audiolayer and record Rozeta’s output to the midi timeline. I’ve spent an hour or more on this and I get sound but no midi recorded. Thanks.
@royor Seems a strange long winded way to record Midi data I much prefer they put the record to track button on the same page as the midi AU like Steinberg do in Cubasis 3.
Definitely possible. I had no problems whatever with it - worked first time.
Oh wait! The secret is you have to tap the MIDI settings at the top of the track and disable "Pre MIDI FX". Many thanks to whoever it was that pointed that out earlier! (can't find the post right now).
Yeah, the built-in machine is more powerful than Ruismaker as a drum synth. Bram's Euclidean sequencer still rules though.
2 taps and you're off + running.. I wouldn't call that long winded.. my description of it probably was though..
@wim Thanks for that screen shot..
Would love to see the Roland cloud come to iOS.
Anyone have any luck recoding GeoShred in ZB? I can do in just about everything else. Just hit record and go.... not so much in ZB
Ah, pretty sure if given enough time, by process of elimination I would have gotten to that before the Sun burns out.
Next, how might one happen upon loading a soundfont? I searched...a lot and everything, just no examples or documentation that I could find.
Thanks, in advance.
I like this app very much, but it seems weird to be named after a religion. Can you imagine an app called JewJams, or MormonMusic? On the other hand, SatanicSequencer might be fun.
Load a sound font?
In theory you do this in SampleVerse:
I know you're just having some fun, but Zen isn't a religion. It's a term for a characteristic principle of one of the schools of the Buddhist religion. It could be applied to any religion or no religion at all.
The guy that maintains my motorcycle told me so.
Like @wim is so in the zen from that green and red haired bud? 😂😂😂. I kid.
eXactly
Cool Zenbeats. Here’s mine...

Didn’t like the “dark” theme so I went with something lighter.
Also, I finally got my compiler installed for C++ (JUCE seems to work as well)
How to use MM-1 in Zenbeats?
nm. It works great
Probably missing the obvious... the UI seems to suggest that there is a per part 'Part follow' functionality but it doesn't seem to work only when enabled globally for all parts. What am I missing?
I've been testing ZenBeats with GeoShred and EG Pulse as MIDI FX.
At first I couldn't get it to work but have figured it out now - it works differently to Cubasis/GarageBand but it works!
To play and record GeoShred you need to go through the following steps
(1) Add Instrument Track
(2) Add Geoshred AU Instrument
(3) Hold on the GeoShred AU in the Plugins list and Tap Add MIDI Effect
(4) Select either of the two (not sure why there are two?) GeoShred MIDI FX that appear in the list
(5) Click on Midi and turn off Pre MIDI FX as per the above screenshot from wim
(6) Open up the MIDI FX version of Geoshred you've just Added (shows up as Yellow) on my theme (Midnight)
(7) Arm The Track and press Record
(8) Play GeoShred so badly that Jordan Ruddess would wish he'd never invented it if he could hear you
(9) Press STOP and loook at the track!
If you've followed all the steps above you should see that GeoShred has been recorded, complete with Automation for Pitch Bends etc
The same approach also works with EG Pulse (and presumably any AUs which are both sound sources and playable instruments). Load the AU Instrument first and use your preferred drum kit as a sound source. Add the MIDI FX and play the Drum Pads on that instance to record the AU Instrument Drums to the track.
When you think about it, it actually makes sense. You need to add the Audio Source (Instrument) and the MIDI effects separately because they're different. Cubasis and GarageBand somehow do this AutoMagically in a single step but in some ways I prefer ZenBeats approach because it allows you to configure one GeoShred Preset as an optimal playing surface (just to use as a MIDI FX) which you can then use to play all your other GeoShred presets (treating them just as AU sound sources) which avoids the need to adjust the playing grid for each of them individually. It also means you could use Velocity KB to play GeoShred instead if you prefer...
@0tolerance4silence not quite sure what you mean but you can have part follow on any part. See screen shots. Also make sure that you set what you want it to do? Loop once or twice or however many times....

How about Prayerbeats, or Chastitybeats? Flagelationbeats even.
@onerez
Yes, in the mean time I figured out that it can't do what I wanted...
It'll only move to another part if that part has part follow enabled as well. What I wanted is f.e intro -> main part (stays indefinitely while I'm jamming), then manually launching break that moves automatically to next part etc... would be cool
Thanks
Branding. Roland’s new hardware synth engine is called Zen, following the older Supernatural and ACB.
