    1. Not sure I understand. If you create an instrument track and double tap on it you’ll create a clip of whatever length you chose under New Pattern Size. Then drag out the right side and you’ll get loops the length of the initial pattern. Then set the loop marker. You can also create a pattern, double tap on it to enter the clip editor and then turn off looping in the “four square” menu upper left and then make the clip whatever length you want.

    2. Never seen this. What is your process for creating a new clip?

    3. I never sync anything to ZB and didn’t have much success when I tried it. I either use AU’s or import wav’s.

    1. Okay, I see my New Pattern Size value was set to 1 so now I can control that (up to 8 bars) using the grid icon up top before creating a new pattern. Big improvement, thanks! Within the pattern, it's still very wonky to adjust the size beyond the defined size but I can work with this. If the zoom in the clip view showed measures beyond the defined length or you could pinch or even just scroll further to the right to adjust the loop markers to the desired location, that would be nice.
    2. I couldn't replicate it when I tried just now but it's happened to me twice in the past few days running the latest verison. I'm basically just double-tapping to create a new drum pattern but a couple of times the new pattern showed the old pattern instead until I edited pattern length so I do think this is a bug.
    3. If I turn off Link, everything starts as it should but most of the time when I turn it back on and play the song, it starts playing right away then restarts quickly apparently to sync with the established Link timing.

I'll just tag @MatthewAtZenbeats here just in case these are bugs or useful suggestions. Thanks a bunch, @anickt !

  • I feel like we should unlock an achievement within Zenbeats for being able to set a fader to unity :D . Unless I delete and remake a track there's just no way back to -0db. It's a fruitless endeavor. Could really use double tap to reset or long touch to edit.

You ain’t wrong! It’s been requested. They are working on a feature update. No ETA.

It’s strange that pan resets with a double-tap. That should happen everywhere but there are places throughout the app where it doesn’t. And of course long press to enter values would be nice. We’ll get there. Won’t we @MatthewAtZenbeats 😉

  • Hello, has someone figured out how to assign the sounds and steps of the drummachine to a midi controller? Midi learn does not work with it.

The drum machine starts at C2. I can trigger it with KB-1. If Zenbeats is seeing your controller it should work. I’ll check with an external controller when I get a chance.

  • yeah, it does a sound. but how are the steps set? further i have not figured out the midi note priority which is responsible for first sound or the sequences from top to bottom. Roland team replied: "the drum track responds to MIDI notes C2 (36) through G2 (43) for the default kits. Every drum hit added after number 8 will be trigger by the next note, 43, 44, etc."

You would record the drums same as a MIDI instrument. If you hit C2 every quarter note they will show up on those steps. Drum machine is currently limiter to clips up to 8 measures long. What do you mean by “first sound or sequences from top to bottom”? If you’re in clip mode you can MIDI learn those to pads.

  • I recently noticed Thafknar on my quarantined list. Does IMPULSation work okay?

Roland is very responsive. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see this soon.

If you want a different sound to play for a note, then you move it up or down to the right position. If you want a snare to play on D2 then you need to have that snare be the third down from the top.

As for that last sentence, I don't understand it, but I don't think it has anything to do with toggling steps on or off. You do that by recording, or by sequencing on screen. I don't think there's a way to turn them on or off by midi other than by playing the notes while recording.

  • is there a way to increase the size of the faders in zenbeats? the rest of the UI is great, but they seem crazy small

  • edited June 2020

@wim, ah, ok. I think it's done via recording. I keep on trying.

    No. It’s been requested.

  • My Akai lpd8 worked immediately, just had to select it as midi input and all drum parts were assigned in order, using oct up/down for range selection

My question is if I spend the 50 points to unlock Zenbeats for PC and later decide to get the whole enchilada package, will my 50 points count towards the 150 points for the full package?

The answer I received from Roland:
“ Currently, we are not offering a discount on the Ultimate unlock for owners of the Windows unlock. We may run promotions and discounts periodically, keep an eye out for emails and in app notifications for details on these promotions. ”

One way is to freeze the track, then on a new audio track, long-press to bring up the pop up menu. Now, select Import Audio File and browse to On My Device > Zenbeats > Zenbeats User > Songs > (name of song) > Audio Files. Find the recently frozen file and import it.

[edit] be sure to turn stretch off for the imported clip.

You can also set loop length for the track, solo the track and Export Song. Fill in the name and format and export. 2 windows will pop up. You should see a window giving you the option to save to Files App. Cancel that and you will see a window asking if you want to see the file. Accept and it will take you to Zenbeats Songs page. Double tap on the “song” you just exported and it will open in an audio track in the currently open song.

🤣 Thanks man! You’re no slouch yourself! I’ve used a lot of music apps. Zenbeats suits me and my way of working better than any other. Glad to help anyone who needs it!

  • Sorry for the late comment. I will try it out tonight (about freeze/import). The other way to export a complete song seems a bit tedious if you want to do 1 instrument track.

Not at all. It’s actually quicker because you don’t have to search for the frozen file. I just tried it and it took 15 seconds from setting the loop to having the audio track on the timeline. Try both. 🤪

  • edited June 2020

    @wim Thanks :)
@anickt Oops, i overlooked your comment. If that goes quicker, then i could try that.

In the next video, i changed the instrument track with Egoist and some effects into an audio track:

  • Yeh, I'd say @anickt 's answer is the best. I was answering from how you needed to do it back in the StageLight days. This is a better workflow.

😎 I use FCPX for editing. I’ve spent a lot of time showing people that it does what they said it doesn’t. I feel the same way about Zenbeats! And work is slow. 😆
