Has the sample audition feature in the file browser been removed? It’s vanished in my version now. It was quite handy!

I see it in mine. I am running iOS 13.7, fwiw.

Ah bugger, maybe it’s an iOS 14 problem. I’m on the latest version.

Does anyone know if audio unit hosting is ever gonna happen inside Auditor? I emailed the developer but I haven't received any answer

I don’t know of any plans to add it.

I remember watching a Nu-trix video demo on YouTube, in which he mentions that it was apparently in consideration. I’d love to have the possibility of processing fragments of audio with audio units! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Doh! I had my brightness too low to see it in dark mode :).

  • New update arrived earlier on. Copy/paste to/from MTS works as expected. Could come in handy where Auditor is able to provide audio editing functionality missing in a DAW that supports the general pasteboard:

The new copy paste is super handy for editing loopy tracks.

  • Hi, is there support for AU effects coming, like Fabfilter Q3 for instance?
    Cheers

Uh oh, I think mentioning future features in the store description is a no no. NS2 had to remove theirs.

That would make sense. A dev can only market and sell what they have right now, otherwise it could possibly run afoul of false advertising laws.

  • Is there anything for Windows that has the same functions where you can auto slice and do batch stuff and export slices etc?

  • edited July 2021

Most of the major audio editors can do that (auto-slice), plus quite a bit more. Sound Forge, Wavelab, Recycle, free editors like Wavosaur, and DAWs like Acid, Live, Sonar, etc.

Edit- Well, Sound Forge, Wavelab, and Wavosaur can batch process folders. I don't remember with the others.

Edit- Forgot to mention that Wavosaur is Windows only. It can run from a USB drive. It can host 64bit VSTs, and you can save FX chains. It's free.

And while I'm thinking, I'll mention another useful tool called Endless WAV, which simplifies creating sustaining loops within audio files for use with melodic instruments/keygroups. It's free.

    Audacity

I looked into Audacity as a response to the question but found that slicing was convoluted and didn't work all that well IMO.

  • TwistedWave on there Mac has a 'Split By Markers' feature to save all slices to separate files...
...I asked for this feature for the iOS/iPadOS version long time ago and it turned out I was the only iOS user requesting it :(

I don't do lots of slicing, but found that it's pretty deep with the Nyquist Effect Plug-ins. But yeah it's not intuitive.

Thanks everyone, I’ll check those out. I may already have the ability and haven’t dug deep enough into what I have already.

@Samu wow I’m really surprised you were the only one to request that, I’ll send them a request as well cos that would be awesome to have something to slice easily on my iPhone. Maybe two requests is the ticket haha

  • you can always open the edited file in the auditor file player in AUM and treat it with the AU's there. I use this file player over the built in AUM player.

  • Adobe Audition, Ableton Live

  • Auditor isn't showing up for me as a destination for Open or Copy in the share sheet. is anyone seeing it there? This was true in iOS 13 and also in 14.7.1. I have tried with both wav and aif files.

I deleted and reinstalled to see if that fixed things.

Tap 'more'(all the way to the right) , then 'edit' and scroll down to Auditor and tap the green + sign to add it to the list that pops up when you use the share sheet.

Did you check “More”? It shows up as expected for me in 14.7.1 and before.

  • @Samu @anickt : i forgot to mention, Auditor doesn't show up in the More list either.

Have you done a 'hard reset' ?(ie. force reboot).
(I don't remember the button combo for all iPad models).

I'm on iPad Air 2, iPadOS 14.7.1 and Auditor is available in the share sheet after I added it from the more list...

Yes. I Deleted Auditor. Did har reset. Reinstalled. I may try again.

It may be that there is still an OS bug that results in one app's file mappings to affect the global mappings.

Yeah, the 'app association' is something I wish would be easier and more straight forward.

For example in some folders tapping an audio file opens the parent app while in other folders quicklook previews the file.

There's no way in advance telling if the file will be 'previewed' or 'opened in the parent app', so long-tap and quick look it is until the 'bug' is fixed...

iPadOS15 is not that far away and I will be installing it, have not yet decided if I will to a 'restore update' or just a plain update as I've got one app (FM Essentials by Yamaha) that will loose it's 'authorization' if I do a restore update...

Hope You'll get it to work!

Does not show up for me either, not available in the …more list, OS 14.7.1

  • Not showing up here either. 14.7

  • Just out of curiosity what 'apps' are you sharing from when you can't see Auditor in the share sheet?
(Some apps export .zip files, some *.AIFF (not '.aif'), some *.m4a etc. etc.)

Do the apps you 'share' from already support Files.app?
(If they do it's just a matter of launching Auditor and browsing to that folder and open the files directly).

I'm on iPad Air 2, iPadOS14.7.1 and Auditor is showing up in the Share Sheet after I added it from the 'more' list long time ago.

Not showing here, Air2 14.7.1. I don’t remember if I ever added it earlier. Probably not as I’ve always opened auditor first then browsed to any samples I want to edit.

Showing up under "more" here on both ipad mini 5 / 14.7.1 and ipad air 2/14.7.1
I just pulled the air out for testing for you guys. Im still suprised how many of you are still rocking air 2s. How do you keep em from choking?
