@Jumpercollins : hi, love the vid :) Just curious - what do you see the advantage of the auditor file player being over AUMs own file player?

I'm curious too. Maybe midi triggering?

Midi triggering, looping, one shot, fade in/out...

Wish it would respond to note-pitches as well :)
    I don't need time-stretching, just simple old-school pitch/speed up & down...

  • So nothing useful then... (adds to really long list of cool stuff he needs to check out when he gets a moment).

  • @Samu try putting Eventides Qvox in the FX slot and simultaneously controlling that along with the start stop.

I bet this would be one of the easier tasks for the great developer!
But there's always AudioLayer to the rescue.
Did you know that AL can record from inside an MFx slot?
I just found that recently 😊

This and a basic envelope and it would be the go to simple sampler on iOS.

Ooooohhhhh ... I am soooo tempted to say that Drambo could do it better just to set you off. :D

Dr_mb_ could indeed play pitched enveloped samples “better” - or at least all in one AU

AUM's file player can loop or one-shot, playback can be triggered by midi - no fade in/out. I've got Auditor, but I still use the built-in file player in AUM over this.

Certainly more integrated. What I like is the main Auditor interface and capabilities (which are many) and the fact they threw this in basically for free.

    😎👍🏼 thanks @White

  • Wow - if Auditor could have spectrum editing tools like Adobe Audition one day that would be really awesome. There's nothing better for fixing glitches in audio files (unwanted pops and crackles etc).

  • Nice, I'm finding this app to be a great desktop companion, browse my audio folders and play back and edit parts.
As I mentioned earlier AUfx hosting would be icing on the cake, along with a batch rename macro :)

  • Thank you for the updates, this app gets better and better!

so is this in the new update? it could be handing in AUM?

  • Thanks for the update.. Au Player seems more ‘responsive’ now.. it’s begging for Time-Stretch now..

    Nice.

  • What??! Spectral view! Sweet!
I never thought I'd see an iOS editor rival my favorite desktop audio editor.
Amazing! Thank you @LivingMemorySoftware ! I'm really looking forward to this update. Thanks for your hard work. B)

  • woah thank you dev

Could the spectral view be used to create images for Virtual ANS 3? I tried it, and I didn't get very good results. I think maybe it requires the background to be pitch black, or maybe transparent...and Auditor's background is gray.

Edit: It works! Virtual ANS 3 has an internal "photo editor" for this.

  • spectral viewer!
this app's development is pretty amazing .

    thanks for the info @White

  • Can Auditor be used as a drum replacement tool similar to Drumagog and create midi files from existing audio drum loops?

  • @sisterkate said:

Auditor is an excellent audio file editing app that has the ability to export slices. But it isn’t a real-time instrument. An AU comes with it that will loop/play an audio file, but that is all the AU does.

It doesn’t do MIDI and wouldn’t work as a drum replacement tool.

    Thanks for that.

    This is from the manual
    WAV and AIF
Each slice is exported to a folder as an invidual audio file and each file contains meta data specifying the MIDI note for playback and the key range. Sampling software can read this meta data and automatically assign the slices across the notes on a keyboard.
A MIDI file is also exported. This MIDI file can be imported into sequencing software to playback the slices at various tempos.
Base Note: This is the MIDI note number of the first/lowest slice in the loop. Slices are assigned incremental note numbers starting at this value.

I thought that this could mean that the resulting midi file could be used to play back the the beat from which the slices came from. With that I could change some of the slices to other sounds of my choice so thus it could be used for drum replacement.
Please correct me if this is not possible
