I didn't expect yo to eat it. Might be a bad idea... please post any symptoms.

  • I should have said ‘inwardly digesting it’, perhaps...

Holy crap. Bad things happen when a country pisses off the Germans... and the German Police no less. Nothing good will come of it. Give the masks back ASAP.

  • It would surprise me if there wasn't a war or two somewhere within the next year after peak Covid.

  • Well, the US states are in a bidding war against one another for medical supplies, but to hear that American civilians are outbidding other countries at the last minute, and literally taking the pallets right off the tarmac, well that's alarming, but not too surprising. Capitalism at its best.

I saw your excellent post @McD and couldn't help think where Civil War Part 2 and WW3 Cyberwarfare Edition. fits in.

Wars require well functioning economies with good supply chains. We'll probably just see
massive famines, pestilence and disease... old testament woes. And Global warming will throw in random natural disasters. Good times. Hopefully the depression will slow Global warming a bit. Not enough to matter but still... flatten the curve for time.

  • War can jump-start economies. (i.e. - WWII).
Ford and GM are retooling factories to produce medical supplies.
    DPA was partially enacted...
What next? Trump repeatedly says his relationship with China and Xi is on good terms, but who knows.

I like a proactive approach to save the economy. Get out those jump start cables and invade somebody.

Ford and GM are retooling factories to produce medical supplies.

Using Union Labor too. Detroit is saved.

    DPA was partially enacted...

It was certainly announced. But like most Trump promises there's no evidence of any
    positive results.

What next? Trump repeatedly says his relationship with China and Xi is on good terms, but who knows.

Sure. China loves being lied to. They will hold up the US economy to keep their investments stabile. So, Trump will take credit because China over invested in the U$ dollar and will need time to find another stable store of value. People are saying they buy Gold: they must watch Fox for investment advice: Gold Coins. Maybe diamonds will make a comeback for storing a million in the lining of your underwear.

  • ^ Damn, growing up as a military dependant all over the world during the Cold War.

Gold's value over the past 6 months. Should've put half of my dwindling savings into gold 2 weeks ago.

Trump's companies making medical gear - Before Donald Trump became President, he give all of his businesses to his sons due to this law. Many of his smaller businesses that produced physical items were just outsourced contracts given to the lowest bidding factory owners in China.

Donald Trump relinquished his role in the Trump Organization after the 2016 election. On January 11, 2017, he announced that he and his daughter Ivanka would fully resign and his sons Donald Jr. and Eric would take executive charge of the various businesses, along with Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Allen Weisselberg.

Just to re-iterate: his financial interest in his companies has not changed and there is nothing that prevents him from continuing to direct his companies. He is in constant communication with his kids -- I highly doubt that any important decision is made without his tacit approval. It is such a corrupt operations.

  • Trump will be making moves while everyone is focused on the pandemic to consolidate his power. It wouldn't surprise me if the dip in his disapproval has him realizing that he can use tragedy to his political advantage. These are scary times.

(Oh, he just fired the the intelligence watchdog responsible for reporting his attempted bribery of the President of the Ukraine).

Trump has just fired Michael Atkinson, the IG who overruled McGuire’s attempt to bury the whistleblower complaint about Ukraine. Glad T can still find time for revenge.Off with their heads!

Trump blames the lack of preparedness on Obama, 3 1/2 years into his administration.

Kushner says stockpile belongs to feds not states. Hours later wording on gov website of the purpose of the fed stockpile changes From relief for states, tribes and territories to reflect Kushner’s remarks.

Hey, where’s Melania? She must have hightailed out of there.

WTF... just because people say you're a wife beater that doesn't make you a bad person.
In fact it doesn't even make you a wife beater. But people will say almost anything casually
    without regard for facts. ;)

No one has power here... but they are passionate about their beliefs. We are all victims of
powers beyond our control so we rage on in our impotence. But to get mud thrown by a fellow forum member is just needless in these times.

Move on. We wish you'd show some class and stop with the shit talk. Of course I use "we" like you do... without much consensus. Someone will come to you aid too because it's easy to hate someone with a superior vocabulary for just showing off. But it's petty.

I do support my friends and this is not personal. It's just what a stand-up friend would to do any bully.

For some reason this was really funny to me last night. @LinearLineman, I apologize for the very unfunny, super dumb joke. This isolation stuff is getting to me I think. Thanks @McD For calling me out. I deserve it.

I appreciate the apology @robertreynolds. We are all going a little nuts. Let’s call a truce till this is over, then we can continue poking holes in each other. One more example why this forum is a cut above. Pace. 😉

If it was intended as humor I totally get the impulse. Jokes can get lost without a perceived context. His reaction was not good and he couldn't be consoled to not take it personally.
It's probably a lot of baggage from attempting to use influence to gain concessions on Trump. Many are excited by his success at move a political philosophy in to the mainstream and giving it voice and teeth.

I was on my phones yesterday with my sister and she gets the virus now but she said her hosts are watching Fox and she can't interrupt them (it's was around 4PM) so she took a walk.

I lamented the fact that Fox was downplaying the threat of the pandemic for many weeks and only recently did a 180 degree turn in their position. She got hot right away saying that's NBC lies and I persisted. She repeated her claim that it's not true but a CNN attack on the truth.

And I can only conclude she's now a certified member of 3 cults: AA, Catholicism and Fox reality deniers. She wouldn't have argued about it last year before she moved in with her current hosts. There's not much point in trying to change her... just change the subject.

I wish the @linearlineman could do the same. Stick to the music and not try to fix people.
Music is contentious enough when we start passing out critiques. More "your baby is ugly" dynamics and we all just want some validation because we can't get it from the world in most cases. We all have or audience... we just need to hold auditions for listeners. Then ignore the critics.

  • @McD I am not trying to “fix” anyone. That is unnecessary and fruitless. Unsupported arguments (and I make them myself sometimes) are simply biased remarks disguised as some kind of proof. Evidence of Trump’s malfeasance is well... self evident.

Watch Birx cringe and slither away when Trump makes lame innuendo concerning “models”. He is, unfortunately, beyond reproach. And those with intelligence who support him still... well, they always knew he knew it was a pandemic from the beginning... sooner, in fact, than anyone else.
