We’ve theoretically got another 5 years nearly of the Tory Brexit Party. However a public enquiry on the mishandling of the pandemic is looking likely, and then of course there’s the hammer blow to the economy from a no-deal Brexit in December, so his tenure is looking decidedly uncertain.
The public can only take so much, so a serious professional like Starmer might get the vote, given the chance.
no one wants to deal with proper context, we are dealing with a chaos agent at the top supported by chaos minions underneath whom's only ideology is mutual/self destruction and suicide politics... These people have been self radicalizing themselves from generation to generation for generations. I know it's sickening and disgusting to look at it but we're going to have to face it eventually. These people champion the response to disasters in Puerto Rico, they champion the separation of children from their families, they champion tiki torchers on the streets of Charlottesville , they champion the fact that particular communities have lead in the water, they champion the fact that chase a person of color down and then claim self defense after killing them, they don't want undocumented immigrants to walk into a hospital for life saving help but they want them to keep pushing their kids around their neighborhoods in strollers, working in their fields, working in their most dangerous plants, and washing their dishes as long as they can continue to pay them almost nothing (what happened to E Verify?)....
these people are anti unity, anti equality, and anti education so they want and elect leaders who are also against those things. These people think that Germany has become too diverse and that Russia is the promised land, at least you can still threaten the very lives of gay people in Russia ... these people think that Donald Trump and his administration is their last hope in this country, they think that they will be minorities in this country soon and that because of that they will lose their false sense of superiority and be forced to be seen as 'Equal'... which of course is the most offensive thing they can think of... They can't handle anymore racist statues being taken down, they can't handle anymore attacks on the false superiority of their fake heritage, they can't handle anymore diversity, they can't handle anymore people who look like them not sharing their hateful ideologies, ... they're frustration is maxed out because they haven't been able to start this apocalyptic race war they've been trying to start for forever, no matter how many church folk they kill the match just won't spark, they are as tired as most jihadist trying to start their Holy War as a matter of fact these people share the same tenets as their holy war cousins... they really are one and the same as their ideologies are almost identical down to god being the one they claim to have given them the right to act on their hatred....
I don't think Biden , Bloomberg, booker, Harris, or even sanders is up to the challenge... the people should have voted for Warren and O'rourke.... I had high hopes for Buttigieg as he's very intelligent but he couldn't handle face to face meetings with unarmed black mothers so there is no way he's going to be able to handle armed racist militias all up in his face...![:( :(](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/frowning.png)
anyways, I'm going for a jog, wish me luck![:* :*](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/kiss.png)
Just talking to the Mrs about the weirdness this year.
We’ve had clear blue skies and sun, almost constantly here for the last couple of months. This is Mid Wales. We’re lucky to get two weeks in mid summer, let alone March/April. I’ve lived in this area for 30 years on and off, never experienced anything like it. It’s a grey, cold, damp place. This is not Florida.
Before that, we had two months of weird, strong winds/gales, storms and floods. Constant. Strong winds every day that whipped around from all directions, trees and woodland hundreds of years old flattened in an instant.
They’re not telling us something. There is some weird shit going on here boss. The virus is just another facet of whatever this thing is.
embarrassing beyond belief, is this really the kind of people we put in charge of navigating crisis?
eww I think I just threw up a little inside my eyeballs watching this.
isn't this the same guy who in a moment of clarity wrote memos to the president that they are both now trying to act like they don't exist?
disgusting ..
Nice to see the British taking a stand against this lockdown nonsense

Do not feed the sodomy geese.
That’s what you get with a hopeless government that gives out mixed messages.
Or people after being locked up for 6 weeks are realising they have been lied too when even Professor Pantsdown with his absurd predictions broke his own lockdown rules.
My new epitaph
In our (mostly sensible) town yesterday
Where the alt right meets the alt daft, hippy morons showing what they’re really made of. Selfish fuckers.
Boris say STAY AT HOME, PROTECT THE NHS, SAVE LIVES, that’s from the Johnson himself.
His pants are on fire like that prick of a president across the pond.
Absurd lockdown? That is your opinion. I haven't seen much in the way of evidence from you to indicate that strong mitigation is not required. Or are you ok with the damage that will happen to people's lives (much higher death tolls and lots of people with long-term damage) without strong mitigation.
It seems you are still ignoring that those countries that have fared the best either took very immediate action (which the UK and U.S. did not do) and put test/trace/isolate plans into place (and near universal changes in people's behavior like ubiquitous mask-wearing) as soon as they had cases in their countries OR they did aggressive lockdowns which they eased up once the spread was dramatically reduced -- at which time they were able to test/trace/isolate.
What is your proposal for what actions should be taken?
What are your predictions as to what will happen if the UK just goes back to normal before a vaccine has become available and distributed?
It was a farce, as usual. A couple of days ago Johnson hinting he’ll announce lockdown easing on Sunday, in the middle of a sunny Bank holiday. Quickly followed by ministers making lots of announcements stating nothing will really change.
A bunch of total idiots.
As I’ve said, it’s thought that that the virus peaked on April 8th. Far too soon for the lockdown to have affected it.
As for the vaccine, the first ones that are being rushed to market are genetic vaccines which is a biotechnology that has had no safe marketable vaccines developed so far.
You may want to be first in the queue but I won’t.

According to who is "it thought" that virus peaked on April 8th and that it would not continued unabated without strong mitigation? When you say "it is thought..." and the similar, it sounds like you mean "there is someone who proposes...." even when that opinion is different from that of most experts.
Who said anything about being in favor of unsafe vaccines?
What do you think the wise course of action is?
What will the consequences be of those actions?
What are you predictions?
Anyone that has looked at the charts. Do a search, here’s one
“Prof Carl Heneghan, director of the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine at the University of Oxford, said: “From an epidemiological perspective we can say that the numbers are consistent with the peak happening on April 8.“
And there is no scientific evidence that once the epidemic has taken off that lockdowns have had any effect.
It’s obvious what the advisable action is. Here’s Johan Giesecke‘s article in The Lancet

And him being interviewed on Sky Australia
Oh dear.
@Mark B : You are treating an outlier opinion as if it is a consensus view. While it is possible that outliers can be right, I think it is important to be aware when they are outliers.
Why do you say that if the decline started on April 8 that it would be certainly unrelated to the lockdown which began two weeks before it -- (and with people having started to change their behavior somewhat prior to the lockdown). It generally takes 2 to 3 weeks for such things to show up in the data.
It also isn't clear that there was anything like a well-defined peak on April 8. The UK seems to have reached a plateau rather than having had a well-defined peak followed by a steady decline.
You think keeping everyone indoors, and avoiding person to person contact has no effect on the spread of a highly contagious virus?
Erm...
@Mark B
I was just in the middle of an interesting article when I went tab surfing and landed here. It was from a scientist who caught covid-19, well worth a read, one paragraph stood out in regards to something you said earlier.
“Many people think COVID-19 kills 1% of patients, and the rest get away with some flulike symptoms. But the story gets more complicated. Many people will be left with chronic kidney and heart problems. Even their neural system is disrupted. There will be hundreds of thousands of people worldwide, possibly more, who will need treatments such as renal dialysis for the rest of their lives. The more we learn about the coronavirus, the more questions arise. We are learning while we are sailing. That’s why I get so annoyed by the many commentators on the sidelines who, without much insight, criticize the scientists and policymakers trying hard to get the epidemic under control. That’s very unfair”.

It’s good, nay healthy to be sceptical, especially in times like these, but it’s also good to be sceptical of your skepticism, just incase one of the cock brothers has got to your thinking.
Thanks Michael for this option, it’s coming in reet handy for the murdoch loving right wing Ends of bells. ;-)
Think ? Now that’s a novel idea.
Because once people are admitted to ICU it takes 20 to 60 days before they pass away if they don’t recover.
And interesting how he makes the statement “ Let’s be clear: Without a coronavirus vaccine, we will never be able to live normally again”
Does he have any agenda?
Dr. Peter Piot Joins Foundation as a Senior Fellow - Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
Has anyone read this yet:
Incidentally, and in harmony with what I’ve read from the above, I reckon a few things are at play this week.
Anyway, I’m very definitely now of the opinion that about a month ago we should have had enough new data in to manage a quite significant change in the way we manage this, not requiring quarantine at all, perhaps requiring proper testing (but we totally fucked that one up several times over, no idea why) and effectively letting SARS-CoV-2 do what it wants with the rest of us. I say that not expecting a huger peak of deaths (like a power of 2 or something) but rather, a bump then plateau then fall, because it increasingly seems likely that most people got infected before we even realised what 2019-nCov was back when it was to be called that initially, and thus more people than we first realised are already past the infection and possibly won’t get a further infection nor pass one on.
Anyway.
No, because not everyone is staying inside 24 hours. Some people have to go to essential work. Someone in every household has to go food shopping. And they mix with other people and return home and mix with their family. Also stress and staying inside reduces the immune system.
But none of that contradicts the epidemic having reached its "peak" (which is misleading since it really seems to have been the start of a plateau rather than the start of a marked decline).
@Mark B : how does working for the Gates foundation indication that he has "an agenda".
How would we live normally in the long-run without a vaccine?
