Man, Cykle is the most fun I’ve had with a sequencer on iOS since I discovered Fugue Machine way back when!

Can’t believe it’s not talked about more here.

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/cykle/id1187680637

    Better than PolyPase?

I take it this is what I’m looking for?

Jeez, that looks amazing as well! Gonna have to wait on that one, maybe hehe.. I’ve spend so much on “on sale” apps lately.

Can PLEASE you show me how you use Cykle I? I bought it and like most sequencers I have no idea how to set it up to use it. Any tips/screenshots or anything to get me going with it would be gratefully appreciated. I just never know where to start with it. I have most sequencers but no idea how to start off with them. Thanks so much I’m advance to you or anyone who can help me start sequencing away! Cheers, ED

Yeah the video @CracklePot posted shows you everything you need to know to get up and running. Once you wrap your head around it, it’s amazing and so much fun!

Thanks a lot! I really appreciate your kind words of encouragement, nice to know. Cheers, ED

Cykle is great for experimentation. Create a basic pattern and drive a synth with a sound you like, then just play around with new lanes and see where it goes.

Sounds fab Michael! Sounds so easy but do you have a screen shot of how to set that up in AUM? How to play around with a lane? Cheers, ED

    Try this one.

Awesome Crackle! This video is fab! Just what the music doctor odered! Thank you very much! Cheers, ED

Thanks for making me brave enough to take the plunge on my first sequencer adventure, really appreciate the vid and your help. Cheers, ED

Cykle is a pretty good tool for getting some good results without having to understand a ton about how sequencing works, but it’s also a good learning tool if you’re new to it.

Lol, I’m really really tempted to upgrade from Ableton lite to Ableton suite 10 for $519 ( and get a free update to Ableton 11 suite!!!! Last time I check Ableton suite was like $700 I think? Omg, I really do have fomo on this sale, and also a sale to upgrade to Reason from Reason Intro at like 30% off 😂😂😂 lord help me. Soooooo should I upgrade to Ableton suite?

you should!!!! 'ableton11 just killed every daw' is def the only comment I would make -😬im not a decap fan. but he's just right about this one-
if you've lite license, you can buy 10 standard for $290. you will get a free upgrade to 11 standard. and this would give you the chance to see if you really need max4live etc. I think standard version could also be your dream daw if you'r not into cv/maxmsp/osc/etc -yeah Im one of those max fans 🤖 so I had to get suite-

Interesting that you feel that way. I have 10 suite, and I’m on the fence about 11. Why do you feel that it’s so substantial? MPE?

    @Poppadocrock said:
@jscheel eg pulse does have random pattern creation but only 1 pad lame at a time, so I actually misspoke earlier. Also in EGP making a kit can be faster, select 16 samples to drag and drop, and it auto populates, but In DS you have to drag and drop each sample to each pad, but Maybe that’s because of the velocity layers.

    Thanks for the update!

Thanks, but at $12 for 2 devices, I'm not too concerned. iOS device storage ain't cheap! I'm mainly interested in clearing out sample bloat from the likes of AudioCopy, Remixlive, etc. and moving it to the cloud.

I did this a while back with iFunbox (free), but I'm not sure that's still possible. Not much info on their website, and poorly worded sentences like, "iFunbox to help you easily get a jailbreak iOS device root file system provides fast browsing, instant file preview and fast file search, you can customize the SpringBoard Desktop Theme." don't inspire much confidence.

Best thing that came out of Retronyms in my opinion - sounds great, low cpu and easy to program.

  • @Montreal_Music said:

I thought about it myself, and passed on it.

People have very strong feelings about Retronyms. For me the main concern is it hasn't been updated in over a year. My iPad was just updated to IOS 14.2 because I screwed up something and so it auto-updated. Many apps had to be updated_ this year _to work with IOS 14.

  • Your money , I just answered a question :)

  • @jscheel more info coming at ya about DS vs EG Pulse... I should probably post it in the dedicated thread but I’m lazy. Anyway... using and adjusting the velocity, pan, pitch, probability, is way easier in Digistix. This is kind of a biggie for me because I adjust the velocity, probably etc, of every drum hit. On EG the bars that adjust the value for each step don’t respond as well or as accurately. I was just making a track with EG and adjusting velocity and probability was rather tedious. I couldn’t get any of the probability levels in between 100-87. As soon as I brought it down it skipped 99-88, and no matter how many times I tried it kept doing it. Also the response time seemed low, and finicky. In Digistix I draw or individually adjust every level with ease, and accuracy. EG Pulse just definitely slowed down my Workflow just now trying to mess with the velocity, probability, pitch, pan for 10 mins on only a couple pads, and still not getting them exactly where I wanted them...

  • Phase 84 is the exception that proves the rule. Lol.
