@JimP4nsen its all a big puzzle we’re all trying to work out. Once I get one thing locked in, something else gets wonky. The community here has been a godsend because I used to literally spend hours trying stuff that someone on this forum fixed in seconds....and I read manuals and watch tutorials. For me it seems to take a second to gel.
+1
This forum really is great for these things
I’ve been following it for quite some time before I registered.
Another thing that is kind of odd :
The list to load a file is sorted on my iPhone, but it is unsorted on my iPad. The same thing happens in RippleMaker. I have no clue why this happens ...
Could this be a setting on my iPad?
Version 2.2.1 is out:
• Ability to automatically append key, scale and bpm to motif name when saving it.
• Ability to change BPM when MIDI Out is enabled and Piano Motif is playing loops. The BPM will change on the next loop play.
• Added key and scale signature as a metadata event to exported/shared MIDI files.
• Control for maximum note duration (Any, 1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8).
• BPM is now always displayed
• Added new chord progressions
It is a really good app Fortamento. Check the videos on youtube. You have more control of you are going to get and make changes before exporting but I find the melodies in Piano Motifs more melodic. Both are really good apps to generate ideas
A new version of Piano Motifs (2.2.1) has been released to the App Store.

• Added key and scale signature as a metadata event to exported/shared MIDI files.
• Control for maximum note duration (Any, 1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8).
• BPM is now always displayed
• Added new chord progressions

@gavinski has a great tutorial for Piano Motifs MIDI Out at:
Thanks again for all your feedback and suggestions.
Another vote for getting both.
This is truly one of those apps that i would consider a true Gem in IOS!❤️❤️❤️
This little app just inspired me a nee song with a simple little piano motif playing into SynthMaster One oh man! Hard to out in words! Better yet, easy to put into music!❤️❤️👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🙏☝️
Thanks for this amazing music ideas and inspiration generator!
Oh I got both... haha
Both apps are great at what they do, endless ideas.
Don’t favor either over the other.
Another sweet update. Thanks @azul3D_Apps Been loving this app from the start and it keeps getting better.
@azul3D_Apps at the risk of being hyperbolic or sounding overly effusive, this app may be the best few bucks I’ve ever spent. This is true before this new, incredible update. I’ve put together a new loop/fully fledged song idea every day since buying this app. I see a lot of complaining in the production community at large, both desktop and iOS, so I think it is important to counter that when you find something truly amazing and inspirational. No disrespect to the other apps mentioned on this thread, but PM is head and shoulders above all other apps if its kind that I’ve tried. It’s almost like having a session player in the room with you.
The only thing that could make this any better would be to allow the choice of chord progression and that’s just me being greedy.
Caution Jedi Mind Trick Forthcoming: If the same app existed for guitar, it would be an insta-buy for me and I’m sure many others.
Thanks for the update
Slowly climbing to the top of my favourite apps
( any chance we could have a Hammond etc as an iap)
Keep up the great work!!!
@king_picadillo Oh yeah, guitar would be AWESOME!
I feel so guilty every time I upgrade, thinking how many hours the developer has spent adding new features and polish to this app.
Perhaps they will find a way for us early adopters to further endow these and future efforts...
Why not just run this one into a guitar sample?
@Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr i thought of that and will probably try it, but guitar voicings are different from what I understand. If the chord voicings and melody runs were specifically for guitar like PM is specifically for keys, seems like a dream app. What I’ll probably end up doing in the meantime is using your suggestion and then going in and manually changing the voicings and melodies to fit guitar “rules”. Honestly I just said it because PM has completely revolutionized the speed and way I make keys based songs.
Delete; wrong thread
I know what you mean, but at the same time we don’t know the developers reasons, motivations. Maybe it’s not even about the money, who knows. Also a better app gives the developer better marketing and advertising by default since so many people like it they talk about it in forums, etc. and recommend it to other people, maybe a site writes an article about the app, and so on... this should translate to increased sales, but there’s no guarantees. I don’t know personally about creating an app but I’m guessing there’s pride in creating the best app that you can, just like any creation. Making the app better, kind of, benefits everyone, so it’s in his best interest too.
That said I am a fan of the IAP tip system, Where those with the means, who want to show their appreciation can get an in app purchase that tips the developer.
We can also help @azul3D_Apps by spreading the word about the quality and sheer awesomeness of Piano Motifs.
Thanks all for your kind comments and compliments for Piano Motifs. Your feedback has been instrumental in making Piano Motifs better.
@Poppadocrock @SNystrom, yes, what definitely helps app developers is exposure, word of mouth and reviews in the App Store. So if you like the app, please leave a review 😀.
Thank you for your stellar efforts, @azul3D_Apps!
I don't know as a developer if I could personally handle all the tiny nit-picky requests buried within the really ingenious requests, but you have managed to navigate the thread with exceptional grace and good humor!
Definitely will provide you with the five-star WRITTEN review, and hope even greater success come to you in the future!
Yup mines up there in US store.
Me too!
It is done, it is written! 🤗
Absolutely, 5 stars plus a written review. Fernando is an absolute boss among devs, he REALLY cares about making this app great and is so damn hard-working.
@azul3D_Apps rated and reviewed. Mine is the Gollum comment, because that’s really how I feel.
My precioussss!!!, hahaha, you made my day
😂😂😂
A new version of Piano Motifs is available for download at the App Store. This new version includes the following new features:
• Added the ability to program the number of bars for a motif.
• Added the ability to rename library files.
• Added the ability to sort library files alphabetically or by date.
• Removed extended BPM mode, it is now the default.
• Fixed audio file sample rate issues.
• Fixed issue with incorrect file name being saved in some cases.
Enjoy!
Thanks for this amazing app!
We certainly are! Excellent little app with huge potential - all based on some very musically astute algorithms. Inspirational in several ways. Nurture it well.
Nice update @azul3D_Apps i really like the bar length option.
