Hainbach and I are Talking in our secret language here: I asked him what about iOS land? Any news regarding fundamentals?
==> work in progress.
Looking good
@auxmux yeap ! saw it too. Must be the signal 🙃
Anyone got any recent rumors/updates on if Fundamental will indeed land in iOS world anytime soon? I know it was speculated that it'd be August, but haven't seen anything about it recently.
If anyone's interested in the PC version of Fundamental, there's a deal currently available via Sensel - sign up for their newsletter and get discount codes for the Morph (10%) and Fundamental (30%). Lasts till the end of August: https://sensel.com/pages/sonic-lab-fundamental-and-buchla-thunder-overlay
This would be definitive⚡️⚡️⚡️
Damn now I want a Sensel Morph and Fundamental
So, something for the drone and experimental people around here.
Is this playable via midi notes too?
I like what I heard here. It sounds similar to mononoke. It would remain to be seen whether I would find the frustration with that that I do with mononoke, where I just wish, wow, I'd love to just play these sounds in a normal way with my mpe keyboard.
Written it off already on the strength of a few videos? Or have you got the PC/Mac version?
Will pick this up immediately
@Gavinski - you sort of can control the PC version with MPE - I've been playing with Velocity Keyboard over Bluetooth to my Mac and although I've not quite worked out what does what, I'm definitely moving things about! I'm going to knuckle down and try to map the keys to the interface at some point...
I second you on that. I don’t know but I don’t think you’ll be able to play Donna Lee with it
I won’t see a problem to use this in C, E and E pitch and get a nice triad by the power of Audio unit plugin
EDIT: Ooops of course I mean C, E and G 🙈
Haha, sort of being able to play it is not the same as actually being able to play it But I still like mononoke despite its limitations and I think the same will go for this.
can’t wait !
This will be an instabuy from me as soon as it drops. I loooooove ugly beepy 1950s drones
Trouble is, then I’ve got to spring for a Morph as well!
Haha. Remember folks that the cheapest way to get the mpe experience without a device is just to get the Blue Mangoo Velocity Keyboard. Obviously, an external controller is always better for these things than a touchscreen, but VK is definitely a great touchscreen mpe solution.
Thank you I’ll try it. I just watched some videos, looks great.
if you’re interested there’s a windows and mac demo for download on the sonicLab website. unfortunately you’ll need to install ilok to run it.
Cool! Don't forget that for best results you need to put the ipad on a cushion or something similar while playing, but even without that you still get some degree of seantitivity.
I’m so on the fence with this one. Definitely wasn’t going to risk the big bucks for the desktop version.
I have a Morph and feel it will either open new doors or I’ll wonder what the hell I was thinking. Time will tell.
another option might be to use brams mpe mononoke pads with fundamental, which i hope will be released soon.
Indeed - or Kai Aras’s KB-1 keyboard - though it lacks the degree of velocity control that Velocity KB has, it has some other nice features.
Fundamental is really fun as a no keyboard sound sculpting playground. The mpe implementation hasn’t been exciting to me, though. It seems like they exclusively focused on tailoring it to the morph + thunder overlay setup. With my seaboard block mpe doesn’t feel very playable. If you’re hoping for something more midi controller friendly than Mononoke, as of the current pc/Mac version, this really isn’t it imo.
I still like it a lot though! It will also be super fun to have on iOS.
@ohwell What is it like to use with regular midi like sequencers and arpeggiators etc, any good? Or is it better to just play on its own without external input? That sounds disappointing they have tailored it to the morph rather than considering the range of mpe devices ppl might use. Have you given them any feedback on that?
you’ve got a point. i’m charging up the laptop, which gets little use since the ipad arrived, and i’m going give the desktop demo a go.
itmt ... here’s a series of videos of lengthy examples on youtube of how the thing sounds.
