First and foremost kudos to the devs at Imaginando, the steady flow of updates is constantly improving LK in a very interesting way and it’s working really well, very stable.

    1 tip and 2 questions:

    Tip:
If clicking a clip doesn’t launch it or double clicking an empty slot doesn’t create a clip, make sure you check the settings. There’s a “Gate mode launch support” setting there that, if enabled, won’t let you click to play clip or double click to create. I actually have no idea what it does, can’t see anything in the documentation. Mine was enabled, I don’t know if I enabled it at some or it’s default... anyway, just deselect it for “normal” operation.

    Question 1:
Is there a way to build a “fixed” song structure?. Like play scene 1 three times, then scene 2 four times, etc... I’d like to set up the scene changes in advance and just concentrate on noodling around with filters, effects and so on while the song develops underneath. If this is not possible at the moment, a second best option would be to trigger scenes via midi (external midi controller) which is possible for clips but I don’t see it’s possible for scenes.

It’s possible to chain scene but this must be done at clip level.
Just open clip properties, hit the informations button.the It’ll open a panel at the right of the timeline.
At the bottom of this panel open there’s « follow action » where you can trig next scene or previous and more.

If you wanna repeat a number of time in the information panel touch the « clip properties » options there you can set the repeat using the length button. ( it doesn’t really change the length but repeat the clip)

    Question 2:
What are other LK users using to launch audio clips?. I can’t find a good auv3 to launch clips (like a whole verse vocal, then chorus...). I had to resort to using a Sampler (Drambo) but it’s cumbersome and not ideal.

I use AUM audio clip the best option i have found. Far for ideal (lots of tracks, difficult to trim no time stretch nor drag and drop) but other clip launcher I’ve try (Beathawk, auditor file player, four pocket multitracks, eg pulse, digistix, audiolayer, segments ...) none of this are satisfying and leads to even more shortcoming than AUM integrated file player.

    Cheers!.

  • Hi @Jeezs

    It’s possible at clip level.
Just open clip properties, hit the informations button.the It’ll open a panel at the right of the timeline.
At the bottom of this panel open there’s « follow action » where you can trig next scene or previous and more.

But those “follow actions” are for clips, not scenes. So, say you add a “next clip” to a “drum track” it would switch to the next clip in the drum track but the rest of the clips would remain in the previous scene. To be able to work at “song level” it’d need to be for scenes.

I use AUM audio clip the best option i have found. It’s sort of a headache/nightmare!. Either the play head doesn’t reset when switching clips (4pockets multitrack, other sample players) or you have to use a sampler/EG pulse kind of approach where “one shot” means it keeps going after you change Clip or other related problems.
Wondering how you do it with AUM file player. I tried but if you set it to “sync”, which you should (right?) it’s got a pre-roll which means it always comes in at least a bar late when switching scene.

Could someone create a Mozaic template for customisable clip launching?

I don’t see how Mozaic would be of help. The midi side is fine with LK, it’s in the actual audio file playing that the problems come about. Basically “start playing this audio file (in a loop) right now “ and “stop playing it right now”. LK sends those instructions fine, it’s the audio playing side where the issues reside, and Mozaic won’t help with audio (I believe it’s just midi).

you're right I haven't test enough, Ive just try to create a master track to trig other clip using cc but it fail ( I didn't spend much time)

Yes it's a kind of curse on iOS, we have tons of plugins and incredible audio manipulation tools . but nothing that provide a simple usable audio workflow!!

But AUM almost work for me I put Sync off when playing when trigging samples from LK sequencer or sync.
I also remove the toggle option in AUM sample player, then the sample play until it receive the midi note off.
    Kind of temporary solution ..

  • Version 1.8.4 beta is now availalbe with the following changelog:

With the latest beta purchases are not transferred to the AUv3. I have Matrix and in the Standalone it show as purchased while in the AUv3 it doesn’t and the purchase message pops up after a few minutes of use.

    Otherwise great update!

Isn't that normal for beta versions? A lot of apps in beta don't show IAPs as purchased and you have to 'purchase' them for them to show up -- as a way for develpers to test that the IAP mechanism is working. You may want to confirm with Imaginando before repurchasing, though.

The standalone shows as purchased, only the AUv3 doesn’t. In the previous beta both showed as purchased. I’m not sure what is correct, but I noticed that difference.

I purchased Matrix before I entered the beta and the purchase transferred after I replaced the install with TestFlight.

There was absolutely no change regarding store stuff. iOS glitch?

I think it was my bad. I forgot to enable App Groups on the AUv3 plugin. It is not syncing preferences between the standalone and the audio unit extension.

Worry not! I will publish a new beta today. In the mean time we have completed support for Launchpad Mini and for APC Key 25.

I must say, it works like charm on a APC Key 25. This controller is incredibly usefull, but the the keyboard is not very good.

Recording of clips without pre defined length

    This is grrrrreat!.
Who knows what to play in advance?. That’s so nerdy! 😂

    Great, thanks!
I have a friend with APC mini, I have an excuse to borrow it now :)
I have a launchpad MK2, I'll test if it works by any chance (fingers crossed)

  • @sinosoidal I am really loving your app. Just bought a Launchpad X... did not see if that was in your timeline for adding support for that?

    Thanks for all you do!!!!

    Thanks for your feedback!

Launchpad X support should come out on the next version 1.8.4. Please send me a message with your email so I can put you on the beta testing list, if you so desire.

  • Is the best place to leave beta feedback in this thread, or elsewhere?

  • @sinosoidal you are a machine sir. Will give the latest update a Spin today. Out of curiosity how does the FREE Clip length work now? Does it just default to FREE length when a new Clip is created via double tap or does it just continue to record while the play head runs and ignores the looping function?

To record in free length mode, arm the track to record and tap on an empty slot. To stop recording unarm track and it will start playing looped right away. You can also stop the song and trigger the clip again.

What is supposed to happen if you tap on the slot as it's being recorded?

It is supposed to stop recording and play from the beggining. There was a bug indeed. Should be fixed on the next build. Thanks for pointing this out.

    Excellent!

I really like the new extending clip feature, it massively improves the workflow.

Please can we have the ability to change the default clip length too? Or maybe creating a new scene could default each track to the clip length present in the scene above?

  • We have just uploaded build 156 of LK 1.8.4. Changelog:

    Beta 1:

    • Recording of clips without pre defined length
    • Allow undo/redo recorded notes
    • Clip notes now have clip color
    • Shift+tap to select/deselect notes
    • General bug fixes and improvements

    Beta 2:

    • APC Key 25 support
    • Launchpad Mini MK2 support
    • Properties context menu for track and scene
    • Midi trigger for scene launch and track stop
    • Midi trigger can now be a note
    • General bug fixes and improvements
  • oh nice, great update with scene triggering and properties, many thanks @sinosoidal :)

  • Best updates! Clip colors, indefinite clip recording, and, scene trigger! Wow! Need to update my review 😆
A question, what is the difference exactly between random any and random other in the clip follow action?

  • Random any is any clip including itself, random other means other than itself.
