Does anyone own Mixbox and Beatformer? Beatformer looks great but will it improve/enhance Soft Drummer (or any drums) more than Mixbox does?
An iPhone version would be so good!
It’s difficult to compare the two. One is a single effect (and somewhat of a one trick pony) and the other is a multi fx unit with just about everything else
MixBox should cover it all, but Beatformer will get you ‘there‘ faster and easier when enhancing drums.
Universal. Will be a hard sell having separate versions on the same platform. @ikmultimedia Any plans on making it universal? I keep reaching for it inside Cubasis and AUM on the iPhone, but it’s not there...veru sad:(
On the desktop, McDSP and PSP also do 500 series FX racks. The really cool thing about those ones are that when you switch from one EQ to another, or one compressor to another, it keeps relative plugin settings so you really get to compare how the modules sound against each other. I would love to see that in MixBox ( @ikmultimedia )
MixBox is the best of the lot for me though. Most variety.
Are they ever going to fix the menus in the AU version? Or is $40 not enough to get updates?
Well, it is Christmas...
Thanks @0tolerance4silence, I’ve been considering buying Beatformer after seeing some videos but since getting Mixbox I’ve found some of the drum presets are pretty powerful. I’m just not sure if it’s worth spending a tenner on Beatformer. I will probably end up buying it... my curiosity will push me over the edge.
Ended up buying MixBox AND Turnado. After I saw a post where someone supplied 400 presets for MixBox I was further enticed and just went ahead

Very glad I pulled the trigger on MixBox. It sounds great and there is such a huge variety of racks/presets that I can easily find a use for this app. And having all of those really really good presets is a great learning resource for chaining effects.
Alright... fx sorted... just need to... learn to make music.
does it contains presets for each effect separately, or presets with chains with few effects connected?
Both
thanks!
It appears to be enough.
Yes, nice to see. Some fixing over Christmas. Appreciated. 👍
@rud, save your money. I got Beatformer free and don’t use it now that I have MixBox.
Same. Always go to FAC Transient and WOOTT over Beatformer. MixBox is the icing.
@LinearLineman @gusgranite thank you both, I will look at transient and watch some vids. I’ve found MixBox is great on Soft Drummer but I’ve not been able to get good results yet when I use it with Rock Drum Machine, but I only bought Rock DM yesterday... 👍
I feel ya😭
Beatformer is ok - it does what it does well. If your looking form more ways to punch up your drums or give them some color Nembrini’s PSA1000 (Jr or “senior”) is what you want - separate from reverbs and delays.
@audiblevideo I’ve just bought transient for as well as improving my mixes I’m also enjoying the sonic dabbling and learning process. I will have a look at the Nembrini PSA you mentioned as I hadn’t considered that approach. Cheers 🤘
Reported this almost a month ago to the support - never heart anything back from them besides the automatic reply which stated that someone will get back to me ...
hm not sure what to think about that -.. given that itˋs high class app (in regards to pricing strategy) - have seen much cheaper apps getting much harder times on here ..,
You might want to follow up with them directly. Support staffs tend to be understaffed and things can slip through the cracks.
The Syntronik effects rack is a subset of MixBox - modulo (a) the fact that you'd want to check the setting values rather than just copy knob positions, and (b) both, the AM and FM modulators need to be able to accept Midi note input, which MixBox does not support at the moment.
However, I do not see how you could hope to clone Syntronik filter settings, given that these do come with filter envelopes. Minimally you'd require additional (external) scripting to emulate that. So not sure on how the assertion on filer equivalency originated.
Rock drum machine does not sound great. There’s not much you are going to be able to do except perhaps send MIDI to audio layer with decent samples. Funk drummer is not much better. Soft drummer is to my ears the best
Dear Tim - it was not about cloning the Syntronik Filters - this was never my plan or intention - it was about aliasing/digital artifacts which gets audible in the filters in MixBox as soon as you move the filter frequency in a medium to high speed - please see page 13 of this thread for details ... there is was discussed ...
common dry / wet knob would be very useful
Any idea if this will go back on sale for 40?
I think I’m ready but i can’t swing 80
