Do they stack up well against MagicVerb? That’s been my goto but it can be crackly at times
No I don't think the isolation booth is useful - the whole point of an isolation booth is that it should be dead sounding.
I think the one chamber does stack up well against MagicVerb, it sounds relatively similar to the default "Beautiful Smooth Chamber" in Magic Verb, but of course in Sunset Sounds there is only one chamber in the iOS version so it's not as versatile. The two plates do sound great though.
I have Sunset reverb on desktop (T-RackS version). In the latest update Sunset was added to desktop's MixBox as IAP and I had the oppotunity to upgrade for €6.99. After that I got Sunset reverb within MixBox on iOS for free.
I found the correct link for the $9.99 Sunset Sound for MixBox (desktop edition). Elsewhere on their site, it shows that option only available for $149.99.
Their site is a total mess.

These reverbs are impressive. Among the most organic and three dimensional I’ve heard. And I appreciate having fewer parameters to fiddle with, especially when small adjustments to the pre-delay and/or decay can easily transform the sense of space and dimensionality.
If you own 'regular' desktop version of Sunset Sound, you coud find your discount in Crossgrade/Upgrade section on their website. It costs 10 EUR but you could use your JamPoints (30% off)
Yep. I just bought it for MixBox (desktop edition) for $6.99 (30% off with JamPoints).
However, I checked my iPad version of MixBox CS and it allowed me to "restore purchases" and it loaded up a completely empty Sunset collection. No presets whatsoever. LOL. The incompetence of this company infuriates me.
Would you mind comparing between the desktop and iOS versions of MixBox? See if the Sunset Sound presets on desktop are identical to each other?
If they are, I might just be able to export my desktop set and open them on my iPad.
UPDATE: After a hard reboot of the iPad, the Sunset collection no longer shows up and cannot be "restored" to MixBox CS on the iPad. How weird.
UPDATE 2: One minute after I posted the previous update a MixBox CS update for iPad just appeared in the App Store... Hoping this update fixes things.
Yes! The update fixed it.
I recorded a short jam with my friends with MixBox. And I think this is the only app that anybody needs to make a records!
Wish there was more competition in this space, to be honest. I love good hardware emulation in software, from effects racks to synths to modeled instruments.
Its better to know your gear well, than to have a great gear
There's always room for great stuff, no matter what it is.
@richardyot I am hearing the same right-channel distortion on the Main Room as well as the ISO Booth. Other Sunset Reverb owners, please test and confirm by setting the Mix knob at 100%.
@ikmultimedia please fix this. Otherwise, the new reverbs are excellent.
So just to be very clear - if you own MixBox and the TRacks Sunset Reverbs on the desktop and do the $10 upgrade to get these reverbs (less with Jampoints) then you do NOT need to purchase the iOS reverbs separately. They show up for free.
Thank you IK, nice touch! 👊
That is correct. That worked for me. Although I already had Sunset in T-RackS 5, I cannot say for certain if pre-ownership in that software was a requirement to get the deal in MixBox on desktop… once I found the right link, I jumped at the deal.
Do you use an amp for the guitar, or is it all mixbox? Sounds very good.
For a while I was completely unable to use MixBox on both iOS and desktop because it was very unstable and would crash everything instantly. Finally using it again is nice. I use whatever combination sounds best for the project.
No amp. It's only MixBox app. Here I used the standard guitar preset with my additional tweakings.
I have Mixbox since last year but started to dive deeper into it just recently (since i‘m using my ipad as „hardware“fx on a mixer).Couple of questions:
1.why are there 2 Mixbox AU in my list?Where‘s the difference? They seem identical to me.
2.Regarding the (lovely) tape echo:for a“realistic“ approach, would you put the tape effect before or after the echo?I know how a feedback loop works (feeding the recorded/delayed output back into the input),so technically the feedback is also ä“recorded“on tape and should be affected by tape flutter etc…i guess?
2.No matter what i do,there is always a little dry signal coming thru but very loud when the switch is set to“filter“.Why is that or what is the“filter“switch supposed to do?When i switch to“full“and turn input/output quite up,there is only very little dry signal but still there.Little confusing…of course, everything is set to full wet where it should be.
@Crabman Regarding your first question, here are my notes on the different types of AUv3:
aufx – effect (audio in and out)
aumf – music effect (MIDI/audio in, audio out)
So, the Music Effect can accept MIDI input, as well as audio. Note, that's not AUv3 parameter mapping, but actual MIDI messages being sent to the app. It may include some modules that can respond to MIDI notes. These differences are important for the host to know what the AUv3 expects and delivers.
Thanks. It does sound a bit better when using the tape effect first. The tape“mistakes“ are not as pronounced.
Also thannks to @uncledave
@ikmultimedia
I stumbled over to unpleasent things:
1.Beat sync doesnt work well in AUM (so far only tested with tape echo)
2.Deleting one of my presets in mixbox crashed all instances in AUM
Does the rotary effect in Mixbox sound anywhere near as good as the one with the B3 app? I’ve been wondering if I can get a closer tone to it out of VB3m using Mixbox
