I see but at least to me it would be useful, thanks!
Regarding the lack of MIDI thru this is my workaround for the time being...
That's true. It was only recently added. I'll try to explain the issues with AU MIDI. AU MIDI can either generate new notes according to input (like an arpeggio for example) or it can generate notes by itself (like the Particles effect). Then you have the problem that the app should not always put all MIDI through the effect: if it would do it when playing a (virtual) keyboard AND it would apply it on playback, then you would get a duplicate effect. This is why it is different than an audio effect.
So before the Rec button was present, AU MIDI was applied while playing a virtual instrument (so you could monitor what it sounded like), but only the originally played notes were recorded to the clip. Then people requested the Rec button because some want to have the result of the AU MIDI effect being recorded. That is what the Rec button does. There is no way for the app to know which one of the two you want, so a button has to be present.
Thanks for the explanation, I appreciate it! It makes sense. I never noticed the record button at the top of the midi AU window and this is not in the manual, at least I can’t find it. I’ll let you know if I find any AU instruments that make no sound when triggered by MIDI AUs. All of the ones I tried in AEM work fine in AUM so I’m not sure where the issue lies. Thanks again!
Although I appreciate it very much, to me it doesn't make sense to have such an option. New IAP's are released frequently. What if there was such a feature in the past and Vocal Tune Studio with a relatively high price was released, people might expect to get that for free since they did the all-inclusive IAP before.
In any case, I don't see how people buying orchestral soundfonts would be interested in Deep House loop packs etc. Although I can possibly make more 'packs', I think they need to be logical.
@dwrae One think that caught me out this morning was I was trying to find the Restore IAP button under Store but found it under More! Which I find a bit odd though Store would be the more obvious choice where to put it ?
AFAIR, there is no Store button. And I think the restore facitiliy should not be necessary anymore these days since the app just requests a receipt of what you own at start-up which should contain everything. But anyway, if you could tell me where this Store button is, I would appreciate it!
Hi. I have updated AEM but for the life of me can’t see vocal tune studio? Can you baby step me through how to get it please?
If all went well, after you record an audio clip or load a project with audio inside it, a dialog should have popped up with some information to double-tap an audio clip to open Vocal Tune Studio. Please let me know if that doesn't work.
Just saw the instructions on the app page. Ignore. Thanks. Phew!
@dware Sorry play on words Shop not Store.
Are the IAP functionality separate from the Soundfonts if so it’s understandable why you have it under More ? I’m just used to most apps putting the restore purchases in the Store or Shop !
There are different places to do IAP's: loops, effects, instruments, VTS. So I think it's only logical to have it somewhere global.
Are there any news sites you would recommend contacting about VTS? I currently have KVR, gearnews, SoundOnSound, recordingmag, sonicstate.com, musictech.com, mixdownmag.com.au, musicradar.com, synthanatomy.com, synthtopia.com, iPad musician FB group.
I guess these days most news comes to people by socal media. If you have some sites you think would be interested, please let me know.
I visit http://cdm.link quite often.
How much is the vts IAP? How much is AEM in GBP?
Thanks!
AEMS is £8.99 and VTS is £21.99.
@dwrae : I dunno , if you could bring something like this in as a sound pack for a fair price (soundfonts ) then the “completists “ might buy it .

I'd definitely be interested if anyone has samples on how it works for non-vocals. To quote Apollo 13, "I don't care about what anything was designed to do, I care about what it can do." 😝
Ha ha , what a quote!
Great work Davy Wentzler! This update puts AEM in a class by itself on iOS. It’s awesome that you allow us to try the Vocal Studio out before buying. It’s great. Thank you!!!
Well, here is one famous person using Vocal Tune Studio already:
https://www.facebook.com/jaimevendera
Does that mean it'll become possible to have the keyboard view onscreen at the same time as the FX or synth view?
I assume it’ll mean u can have a synth/mixer onscreen with he arrangement window in view. You can already have the synth/au instrument or midi AU fx and keyboard on screen together.
@dwrae : Will the amazing owner’s manual for AEM be updated at some point ? It’s says “1.0 “ on the first page .
It should say 1.03. Perhaps a cache issue?
There will also be a manual update that includes Vocal Tune Studio.
Yes, I did read about the manual update for vocal studio and yes I was able to find 1.03 . I was lazy and just Googled it at first which is when I got 1.03.. So everyone , get the manual from the AEM website vs just Googling it . Thanks again.
Is there any chance of snap to zero on audio files? To get rid the clicks.
Also is there a quick bounce with effects applied option on each track or audio file?
A snap to zero is not planned for the near future. You can select 'Render to audio file' from the track's pop-up menu.
Hmm, when I go to the AEM website, I see the 1.03 manual for Android but the iOS manual says 1.0. The link to the manual from inside the AEM iOS app also takes you to the 1.0 manual. Can someone please provide the direct link to the 1.03 iOS manual? Thanks
