Hope you get a holiday @dwrae
Cannot believe this guy!!!!!
@dwrae, your work output is so impressive, even Elon would be impressed! Seriously though - wish more developers had the same attention to detail as you do. Your ability to stay on course without being distracted by others “wishlists” is a skill in itself. Hope you do get some downtime over the holidays. Take care and best wishes.
Can you make the vitual piano to be displayed on every pages specially the sequencer page and even on the piano roll page because that could help a lot on having a better or faster work flow when it comes to making beats,
and with that, would it be to much to ask for a 1/4,1/8, 1/16, 1/32, 1/64 with the triplets included note repeat option on the keyboard,
plus scales setting option or even better an option to program scales and save them as a scale preset for the virtual keyboard, which it would be great for a beatmaker like me that only use the iphone touch screen to play chords and melodies
also can it be possible to have an option to be able to keep the grid and snap settings on the sequencer and pianoroll once i set it up for the first time, instead having to keep setting it up every time i open the app, because that would help a lot on just focusing on making music and not being distracted on setting everything back up again every time i open the app,
by the way when it comes to the mixer volume meter, it doesn’t display anything on the volume virtual meter when it comes to using auv3 instruments, it only works with the internal instruments not with the auv3 instruments,
another thing is it possible to used an auv3 multi-outputs in AE and route each output to a separate mixer channel because that helps a lot on saving cpu usage ?
I’ve had this app for a while now but haven’t given it much of a workout until recently, partly motivated by trying out different workflows and struggling with Cubasis. So far I really like it, and am really grateful that @dwrae is putting so much great continuing work into it. Question… is the ability to route midi from one track to another in the development plan? Or is it there already, and I’m just being obtuse? I do a lot of midi process chaining in AUM, which is one of the things that keeps me tied to that host.
I am going to be honest in saying that although planned, the other changes discussed here have priority.
@dwrae Roger that. Thanks for the quick response.
Is it possible to use LFO auv3 MIDI plugins( like mLfo ) for sending midi data to different channels to manage auv3 synths and effects?
Whoa... I somehow ended up in this thread while looking into Cubase since it's on discount for the holidays... think I'm just gonna pick this up instead and I feel like I'll never really have to look back for Cubase.. or at the very least this will fulfill my needs until next year's holiday sale
edit: does the lack of midi routing between apps mean that you can't use something like Fugue Machine to generate midi for a synth?
Could I still just do that in AUM though and then route that into AEM?
You can put a single midi processor on a track. So you should be able to use fugue machine. What we mean by midi routing would entail the midi output of one track affecting the midi on another… or even just chaining midi processors on a single track.
Yes
Awesome and yet weird that that's not a thing. I'd figure on iOS that'd be top steez. I almost fell out of my chair when I found out how much of a workaround midi routing for sequencer plugins is with Ableton, but to not exist! on iOS! Golly gee! That means there's some awesome stuff in the pipeworks I bet
Is it possible to specify a chance value for the probability that a Midi note will be played?
I am thinking about purchasing AEM, but I have a question.
My current workflow is Korg Gadget loaded as IAA inside Apematrix,
Korg Gadget for sequencing internal instruments as well as sequencing external synths/fx loaded inside Apematrix. All synced, I hit play in Apematrix, Gadget runs, and I can record everything inside Apematrix.
Question: can I load Apematrix inside AEM, with Korg Gadget loaded inside Apematrix, and set it up in such a way that when I hit play/record in AEM, Apematrix AND Gadget will sync/start playing/recording inside AEM?
I guess it must be a simple thing to do, but what exactly do I have to change in the settings so that AEM becomes the master of my Gadget/Apematrix set-up?
Ehm.. no. Perhaps there is a AU MIDI for that, I don't know.
I hope somebody else can answer this since I don't have these, but when AEM starts, an IAA would start as well. The only thing is that IAA's are deprecated for a reason and they often don't go along well with AEM. If Apematrix is available as AUv3, there won't be an issue I guess.
In case you missed it:
Vocal Tune Pro has been released as separate plug-in on iOS:
https://apps.apple.com/app/id1660442751
Vocal Tune PRO is a real-time pitch correction effect. Use it in your favourite DAW to auto tune your vocals or other monophonic audio.
After selecting the right key and scale, set the retune amount and retune speed to adjust between a natural effect or a more processed/robotic effect as can be heard in modern productions. To bring some life back to heavily auto tuned melodies, you can add artificial vibrato with settings for the vibrato depth, rate, time between the start of a note and the onset of vibrato and the time it takes for the vibrato to reach full depth.
Vocal Tune PRO comes as an Audio Unit plug-in and must be run inside a host app such as Audio Evolution Mobile Studio, Auria Pro, Cubasis, etc. supporting AU Music Effects (audio effects + MIDI). Although you can run it stand-alone as a real-time effect with mic input, it's best to use it within host software.
The app is free to download and has a 3-day trial. During this trial, silence will be played occasionally. To unlock full functionality, an in-app purchase is required.
Thank you for your reply. As far as I can tell Apematrix is not available as AUv3, I tried to load it into Garageband, but can only select it in IAA format and that experiment did not turn out very successful.
This is great news!!!
I’m not complaining about it being so cheap but I do wonder why it costs 5.99 UK and you can use it anywhere and yet in-app was UK 14.99 when it could only be used inside AEM? I’m assuming the 5.99 version can be used in AEM too. No doubt I’m missing something!
Anyway, thank you so much for this, can’t wait to use it in all my DAWs.
The price is 3.49 UKP inside AEMS. I guess you are mixing this up with Vocal Tune Studio. But good thing you reminded me, I just raised the price inside AEMS.
😂 Well at least I did some good.
🎖️ Excellent exchange, kudos to both of you. 👌
Hi @dwrae ! Do you intend to introduce additional midi tools at some point such as legato, velocity randomization or octave change? It would make a huge difference when dealing with midi tracks.
I suppose that on iOS, you can do all these things with MIDI AU's? You can transpose MIDI clips, so octave change can already be done.
I do almost all of my MIDI-routing outside of AEM (when I want to use multiple MIDI AUs that is).
To sync things I send AEM clock to Audiobus (with Ableton Link also enabled). I then load the MIDI AUs I want to use in AUM (also Ableton Link enabled) and do my routing there (sending the MIDI ‘results’ to Audio Evolution, in AEM I set the particular track’s MIDI in to Virtual MIDI in). This works fine, also with start/stop.
There’s loads of MIDI AU’s allowing you to play chords, arpeggiate, create polyrhythms, introduce offsets… and feed all these things into one another.
This workaround is just fine I think, but being able to use MIDI plugins more extensively in AEM would be great.

This is great!! Thank you!!
