I'm saving a ton of money by sticking to my guns:

    No iLok.
Must be universal Binary already (M1 native).

So far, everything mildly tempting is either iLok (SoundToys), not Universal (SoundToys) or both (SoundToys).

Soundtoys Rack seems like a pretty decent price. I’d like Decapitator.

Sountoys Rack doesn't actually include any of the modules. It's sold so that those that don't own the full suite of modules can put together Rack presets that include the modules they do own.

The full suite at $229 is the best value in the sale as the individual modules are $69 and Rack is $129 in the sale. Purchasing without buying the full suite will only get you one module and Rack for $198 or two modules and Rack for $267.

In truth Rack is pretty useless when it's not part of the full suite as it has no more functionality than a group preset in a DAW (there's no Reason-like back panel modulations or suchlike). Its real value as a product is the excellent presets for Rack that you get when you own the full suite. It's one of those products that only really exists as a separate product in the Soundtoys shop so as to nudge you into purchasing the suite over individual modules.

Soundtoys are far from the only plugin company to employ marketing tactics of this nature. And given that there's not a single dud in the Soundtoys suite, I would only recommend purchasing the suite. If you don't have the cash right now for the full suite, purchase as many modules as you can afford @ $69, and wait for a compelling suite upgrade offer from Soundtoys (upgrade promotions happen on a regular basis).

Jon are you sure that's right? The Effects Rack page states the following :

"Effect Rack includes Crystallizer, Decapitator, Devil-Loc Deluxe, EchoBoy, EchoBoy Jr., FilterFreak, FilterFreak 2, MicroShift, PanMan, PhaseMistress, PrimalTap, Radiator, Sie-Q, and Tremolator."

Individual modules are 69 dollars or most of them are between 29 and 39 dollars, ch3ck it out on their website
    https://www.soundtoys.com/product/

Indeed. As such the Rack on sale represents good value if you wanted at least two of those included plugins as above. Apart from the fact they can't be used outside of the rack. I guess you just have to have a multiple rack instances in that case.

Not being able to use individual plugin instances is definitely a negative in terms of workflow, but Rack itself adds negligible processor overhead so it's likely to be more of an annoyance than a hindrance.

You're really not missing anything of note either, as most of the 'Little' range are light versions of a module that's already included in the Rack package. The missing ones are great, Little Plate, is a tasty EMT Plate simulation with a low CPU hit and Little AlterBoy is a decent pitch-shifting module; but neither are unique in the plugin universe, so if you can put up with always having to load Rack when you only want an individual module, you're really not missing out over what's included in the full v5 suite.

And odds are you'll get an upgrade offer to v5 suite at some point that costs less than the current price difference between Rack and v5 suite.

One exception is little radiator, which models something different than radiator. It’s either a different altec preamp or a different section of the mixer than radiator. Little radiator is pretty magical on a drum bus though, very different than radiator in that application. With the gain and heat both at 12 o’clock, then a plug-in afterwards to trim volume back if desired, drums get nice and full very quickly.

Let's not be surprised, AIR Music has finally decided to hand out the Drum Synth 500 plug this sales season for an easy $10.21. It's been out for a few years now, previously not at the usual AIR giveaway prices until now. The ad copy is quite long if you find your self in the water closet desperate for something to review. https://vstbuzz.com/deals/80-off-drum-synth-500-by-air-music/?ref=3

I have it and like it for the price. A really fun straightforward approach to synthesized drums.

It's a great looking UX, I mention DS500 out of respect tbh, I love drum machines and find the sale notable, this is better https://www.adsrsounds.com/product/software/air-music-tech-drum-machine-pack-drum-synth-500-boom-bundle/ considering the BabyAudio freebee

Thanks for posting this! I didn’t know about these. I bought both after checking the reviews on YouTube. I think these are the best sound libraries I have bought in a while!

Am I reading this correctly? BOTH desktop versions of Synthmaster for $45.00? Wow. This finally looks like the sale I've been waiting for!

    https://www.synthmaster.com/synthmasterstandardbundle.aspx

UPDATE: Their payment system failed to work, so I can't order it anyway. Unbelievable.

Has the Synthmaster web site been hacked or something? Their ordering process is completely broken. I'd like to BUY both of their synths, but they don't seem to want my money!

I'm not sure as I'm waiting to get it as well, but from what I saw last year, I think the cheapest is $300 for standard. You can get Select right now for $100, with code SELECT21. Then when the actual 50% sale hits, you can upgrade for $200. I believe that is the cheapest way, but I could be wrong.

Tried to buy both synths again and I keep getting a "bad gateway" error. I'm done with these guys.

The 50% will be good for the upgrade?

My regular price for ugrading to Select is 99$ and the code SELECT21 does not work (because it's an update).

Arturia Sale : 50% off software

    https://www.arturia.com/black-friday-21

    Edit:

Just looked and my prices are even lower when I log in. I only have the 140 plate reverb and drumbrute impact registered with them.

I was trying to avoid the C collection; it’s not yet a universal binary and I can’t afford let alone justify €299. But €199 over 4 payments. Also €99 for the fx collection. Aargh. Must stop looking at all the deals!

Help. Please talk me out of it. It’ll probably be the same price next year and still not M1 native.

Nope. Gonna stand by my guns again. I’m not buying anything that’s not a universal binary already. And I already have too many synths and stuff I’ve not properly explored. FOMO can FOFF.

  • Oh damn, don’t really need it though :D

  • AudioDamage sale 40% off everything with code
