Someone on KVR said: Use the code: APGMARS and get "All the Samples From Mars" for $19.50
Yep but i didn’t listen it yet. I hope they do not abandon the VTines on IOS because i see the last update was 8 months ago and no sale this BF. Just thinking.
Oh, that's a very personal decision.
My own favorites:
Vibraphone
Grand Marimba
Konkrete
Pan Drum
Novachord
Ondes Martenot
The EPs used to be my faves too but Keyscape has now completely replaced these for me.
That's a tuff choice as there's hardly anything of theirs that doesn't tickle my tastebuds. The Ondes Martenot and Novachord are definite faves but to that, I'd add Imogen Heap's 'Box of Tricks', The Attic 2 and Morpheus.
@jonmoore Oh yes, Box Of Tricks, I forgot to list that one 😄
Yeah, I saw that on reddit yesterday. Someone got that code from an old sales thread and found it still worked. In the past, some first-time buyers were taking advantage of a mistake that allowed them to use someone else's upgrade coupon to get it for $9.
Thank you.
No, I’m not a student…wish I was though 🤗 good times.
I’ll keep an eye on iTunes gift cards, - never tried them before. Are they “international” : Can you buy them anywhere and use them locally?
Bought a lot of Softube (Modular) last week, including their Moog and Juno emulations. Both are superb and can be used in Softube’s modular environment.
I also bought Arturia’s V Collection 8 and as a bonus got an extra discount on Pigments 3 and the FX collection.
Got a € 100 discount on Bitwig.
Not on sale but also invested in all the Valhalla plugins and today I will pick up the Moog Soundlab 3 set with all the three Moogs and goodies.
I am going to demo lx essentials today, for $25 that is too tempting. The clips I listened to last night sound really beautiful. I have to compare it to my exponential reverbs as well, although I am finding a huge amount of value in reverbs that have just a few parameters available so I can get a sound I like and move on. The UAD emt250 and 140, capitol chambers, and Akg bx20 are verbs I use most often for that reason. Also the ambience in mixbox.
It’s a great collection.
Yes, I agree with you. It feels like they have done a test with the iOS market, waiting for success to keep on… or not.
I believe so, yes.
These kinds of sales used to be very common, but now they are very rare. Typically they are locked to a region. I have not seen 20% off for ages, and typically there is no longer a discount, but a credit somewhere else. For example, target will give you a $15 Target gift card for buying a $100 iTunes gift card.
@jonmoore @rs2000 thanks. On the list for next Black Friday!
NO. Be careful, because Apple is really anal about those cards. Even within the euro zone, where the currency is the same, you cannot use a card purchased in one country in another.
Here's an example of a Belgian reseller saying up front that the card can only be used within the country:
This makes zero sense for the customer, of course, but helps Apple exercise more granular control. Or something.
Ah, I didn’t know they were region locked, I bought mine online through PayPal and they were just codes.
Following up with the reverb topic, I made a quick video comparing three of them, since they are all on sale for around 30$ right now. I don't think you can go wrong with either of them for that price, but they are quite different in what they do and how they sound. It's really short, just the sound, no talking:
Here are links to the best deals for them, because you get a freebie:
Relab LX480 Essentials: https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/2-Effects/17-Reverb/8016-LX480-Essentials
Waves CLA EPIC: https://www.audiodeluxe.com/products/audio-plugins/waves-cla-epic
SSL Native Flexverb: https://www.audiodeluxe.com/products/software/solid-state-logic-ssl-native-flexverb
Thanks for doing that. I demoed lx480 essentials today on vocals, and it is cool. However, exponential r4 sounds very similar, so I’m not sure if I need relab. There is something to be said for that nice simple interface though. Vintage verb is very cool too, and I keep getting so close to buying it but then hold off. Interface there is simple enough though. R4 is overwhelming but it is also difficult to make it sound bad.
I hadn’t ever heard flexverb, that sounded good in your context. The music I work on is really different though, mostly acoustic or live musician based music, so maybe I’ll have to demo flexverb too.
I have epic, and never used it past the first day. Way too complex and it brought my old cpu to its knees. I get the concept the he is doing with the matrixing, but the way it is laid out just doesn’t fit with how I like to work. In your examples though, that was easily my least favorite of the 3 sound wise.
Yea same, in my quick demo I would rate them soundvise:
LX480
Flexverb
Epic
But the reason for that might just be that the type of sound isn't a suited. EPIC get's marketed vor vocals, but I thought it would be interesting to hear on electronic music.
Edit, also CPU usage on my M1 Mac:
LX480 5%
Flexverb 15%
Epic 15%
That’s good to know also, if epic is that heavy on your m1, then my 2012 mbp stands no chance. Luckily my Apollo x8 runs most of my reverb, my processor is mostly focusing on console 1.
Or you could pay the sales price of $39, which is a steal to begin with. Those codes are for people who have already purchased the "All the Samples" pack and just need to update it with what has been released in the meantime.
I have been reading this forum for years now, (never registered) and it always amazes me how people on here always just want to pay nothing for these apps and samples. People work hard on these apps and sample packs and it seems like all people want is "how little can I pay?" or "Why does it not have option X?"
We are very lucky to have such a wealth of very low cost options for making music on the IOS, would it really hurt to give these hard working developers full price. That in turn would give them resources to build upon and expand their current offerings.
Plugin Boutique has Iris 2 for US$9.99.
It’s not a new synth and it’s been this price before but if you are into sound design using samples this one is pretty much essential.

Relab also has sonsig reverb a, it is more expensive, but worth every penny
What a deal! 😮
Been out of the game for a while and am a novice to Desktop. Recently picked up a MBA M1 from the Apple Refurb Store (my first ever laptop…I was frightened of them). Got Logic. The stock stuff in Logic is good, but what I feel is lacking is a decent saturation tool. Phat FX is alright, but it seems a tad fussy for my technophobe arse. After some research the ones that are in all Top Threes are Soundtoys Decapitator and FF Saturn. Hmmm, thinking of the future, do I go all out and plunder the FF FX Bundle? That way I can tick the mixing and mastering boxes too. I never invested in the iOS versions of FF (I know, kill me) so there’ll be lots to learn. If I do go FF, will Decapitator add anything different to the party, or is this overkill? Have to get a shift on because the FF sale ends tomorrow.
Bloody hell, the Baby Audio Complete Bundle is tempting too. Time to sell my Ayotte drums to fund this extravagance. NO, I cannot do that!
Last thing, for now…should I buy plugins direct from the vendor or through, for example, Plugin Boutique?
Thank you and sorry for the manic rambling.
There’s some really good saturation options. Lower cost but IMO better than Decapitator is SDRR https://klanghelm.com/contents/products/SDRR.html (hat tip to @winconway for the original Klanghelm recommendation).
Saturn 2 is great. Love it on iOS. For multi band saturation on the desktop I use https://www.meldaproduction.com/MSaturatorMB
Also, go free first before you blow lots of cash. This is a good round up from a mastering engineer who has an excellent YouTube channel https://www.sageaudio.com/blog/audio-plugins/top-9-free-saturation-plugins.php
Wow, great shout on this one. Installing it now and it is more than worth it just for the 11GB of easily accessible (i.e. iOS sampler fodder) 24-bit samples you get. Not just drone/found sound type samples either, there is almost 4GB of classic synth samples and 2GB of instrument samples.
I suspect it has already been posted but when I downloaded Iris 2 I noticed BreakTweaker is also on offer for $9.99 at the moment: https://www.izotope.com/en/shop/breaktweaker-expanded.html so I have just installed that too.
Again, even if you don't use the plugin then you get 3GB of easy to access samples. This time it is mostly a lot of drum/percussive samples but it comes with a nice cinematic textures sound pack containing some useful ambient sounds.
Tip in case anyone did not know (I didn't until today!) is that you can press space when a sample is highlighted in Finder for a quick preview on macOS. If you leave the quick preview window open then click another sample (or use up/down arrow to change the selected file) then it is automatically played.
