@346 @Telefunky tell me if it works for you guys
I get the following for my AUDIO4C:
Just popping in here to say that I'd not been aware of this device before seeing this thread, and it allowed me to replace an unwieldy setup (two scarlett interfaces interconnected with their analog ins/outs) and save money as well. At first I was having a lot of trouble with the software on PC, getting to properly program the patchbay, but the reconfig app by Markus Burri worked flawlessly for me. I also didn't realize that I had to press the encoder button to save settings after I'd set them. So thanks all for the guidance!
@ptr_jan audio works with (original) iCA4+ in IOS 12.5 on Air One, but midi matrix crashes.
(something seems to interfere with previous settings from MacMini M1)
Your initial error may be due to build version.Iirc people have used the 4c with the old software successfully.
Thank you! Is this version.lirc something I can 'change' to make it compatible you think?
iConnectivity has open sourced the old iConfig and someone made a GitHub repository.
The current release was called a forked version, but there‘s also the full (original) source and likely more. I didn‘t visit the site yet.
In the most simple case it‘s just the identifier of the 4c missing.
You could edit/build it yourself with XCode ... if this appeals to you, but if it‘s really that simple it will soon be corrected anyway.
Hope so. I don't have the building skills..
Hi everyone,
I'm currently struggling to get my Ipad pro 11 to run audio to windows 10 with the AUDIO4c, when both devices are connected to the interface I get a horribly annoying bleeping tone that overrides everything. All current drivers & firmware were installed and still getting this issue. Very annoying!
When I first attempted this I managed to get audio recorded onto the Ableton on my Windows 10 machine but strangely, once I tried to adjust the hardware volume knob on the interface, it started producing the loud bleeping tone and ever since it has been doing the exact same thing. I have emailed Iconfig and am waiting for a response.
Has anyone else encountered this issue before and managed to fix it?
It sounds like you have a feedback loop. Can you simplify the configuration and see if it helps? Watch out especially for monitor outputs and loopback options. I don't have the device, so cannot offer any specific suggestions. Are you using a program on the Windows machine to configure the device? What about audio routing configuration in Windows itself?
Currently only running headphones from the Audio4c with no speaker monitors. In terms of software, I am using Auracle for X series
on Windows and every channel's volume except the headphones channel is turnt all the way down so no signal is produced and I am still getting this horrible tone.
Do you maybe have a loop between the interface and the iPad?
I've been working on this issue for a few days now and can't seem to work it out. I'm convinced there is no feedback loop. I've managed to get windows audio playing through iconfig, and strangely, I can play RadioGarden audio on the iPad through its own app with no issues whatsoever, record it to Ableton on windows, stream on its own, whatever. Still, as soon as I open a music-making app on the ipad such as Sampr, Koala or Sitala, AUM and play something, it plays audio for about 5-10 seconds then beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep, its unresponsive and I have to restart the interface.
For the life of me I can't bloody work it out, I can't seem to find anything relating to this anywhere online so it's definitely something I'm doing wrong but by this point, I have run out of ideas.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Try saving your current config, and then factory reset the iConnect. I sometimes get into similarly mysterious situations with mine, and a reset helps. I know the iConnectivity app pretty well, but sometimes I just can’t work out where I went wrong.
audio port porn
(recongif4audio for iPad updated and working fine, now having added the AUDIO4C)
What minimal buffer settings can you people use reliably for connecting a decent iPad to a decent Mac, let's say with M1? Both on the iPad and Mac side.
I foud anything above a total of 128 samples latency spoils the fun for me singing over the computer effects.
Going from Mac with Ableton and connected main audio interface (RME Fireface) then with iConnectivity into the iPad and back into Ableton, is it workable?
I can create a compound audio device for having both interfaces accessible to the Mac.
This adds latency. It effectively adds together the latency of both interfaces.
You don‘t need to aggregate the interfaces to use both at the same time.
This only applies for both in a single app with sample accurate sync of the audio streams.
(at least that‘s how it looks to me with an iCA4+ and an ID22 connected)
ps: the ID22 runs flawless with a 32byte buffer setting as a live AU fx processor (via Adat lines) on a Mini M1.
Is only port 2 only port to charge a device ? 15w.
Does it mean I have to choose before deciding to buy an ipad. Which Ipad will be permanent send or reciever ipad?
When audio4c isnt on. Is it just a case of unplugging from audio4c and using a charger to charge the usbc ipad?
If this is the case.
Can anyone tell me how the pros of usbc outweigh the cons?
I guess you can remake/reverse the matrix?
Where as I can just switch usb cables at the mo, when undecided of which ipad will be which ( sender or reciever )
Thats if port 2 of audio4c only charges an ipad.
Or do both ports keep charged usbc devices?
I assume its direct monitoring routing. I can hear some line input even with gains off.
What routing do I need to disconnect. To just have just software be gains?
Here is what I have. Direct monitoring on 1&2 but ok with 3&4&5&6. Maybe it can help
Messaged iconnect.
Thanks though

Does anyone here find the hardware inputs incredibly noisy? I'm trying to get clean signals into it but I am struggling. Can you recommend any audio interfaces that have similar specs but without noisy/hissy hardware inputs?
yep the inputs are noisy, the one flaw with the device. there aren't any other audio devices which do what ICA4 does unless you try some dante network, maybe that does the same.
Is there anything (like a DI box maybe) that can help reduce that? The noise makes it pretty much unusable for recording heavy guitars.
it's bad enough just one pass through the inputs but if you try and attempt to resample to outboard and back in again the noise build up is ridiculous. It's a real shame as the concept and functions are great but a huge letdown in the hardware i/o department. It's not like they are cheap interfaces either.
Dunno about the USB-C version of the iCA4+, but the original unit with external PSU definitely is NOT noisy at all.
Regarding high gain guitar sounds there‘s a lot that may go wrong with „noise“.
Main aspect is proper ground of the unit, which can be tricky if it‘s connected as a double host interface and to multiple external devices.
have to disagree on this as i have the ICA4 usb and the inputs are fairly noisy. you can see the noise when in a DAW and adding a EQ.
i do have a bit of a solution as the ica4 is prone to USB noise and it spikes at a certain frequency, maybe this is your issue.
I greatly reduced this by using this idefender ... take note you need the power cable into the grounding device for it to work.
there might be better devices than this but i have the older model and it killed the noise spike,
however, the ica4 is still noisy in general.

looks like the device is upgraded to this now

Well... of course it‘s „noisy“ if you compare it with a significantly higher quality interface.
Some figures:
mic input terminated at 260 Ohm, gain 55dB, output noise -60dB, plain white noise
Telecaster (bridge pu), full open, gain 30dB (yields 0dB if struck full), -60dB output noise
(nothing to hear with headphone max volume, cranking input to max net hum becomes obvious, hum reacts to turning the guitar, just as expected with single coils, no usb noise)
Same settings on Audient ID22 results in -88 dB noise on mic input, a whooping 28dB improvement, but that‘s a studio grade channel (also used in their 5-fig consoles) and it has a high precision DC/DC converter. The iCA4+ only has a „regular“ DC/DC chip.
Yeah, noisy, and constant dropouts and sound pops when reconnecting is super annoying (at least on pc/ipad). I gave it a shot but was disappointed and returned it. It's just to unstable for me to create and not constantly be alerted for some unexpected behavior.
