Somebody should really change the title of this thread. I had no idea it was out. I was like, Wow, people are really involved in this beta!

Here's the question: Is SM2 hugely different than SM One? I happen to be using SM One in a track just this week, but usually I never reach for it. It's kind of overwhelming. It feels like dragging out The Collected Works of Shakespeare when all you want to do is re-read Hamlet's soliloquy.

Of course, it only costs $10 for the bundle — how can I pass that up?

If you find SMone kind of overwhelming, you will most likely find SM2 more so 😀

It just seems like not the synth you reach for when you have a general sound in mind, you know? It kind of does everything, and every preset is loaded with effects and modulations.

This is why I'm holding off on the purchase too, I think SM1 sounds really good but I hardly ever use it because it feels like it's aimed at a certain type of user, I'm not a preset buyer either. It's tempting to get the update, but I just feel the character of the sound isn't my cup of tea :)

What is the "certain type of buyer" you think it is aimed at?

Someone who buys presets and likes classic synth sounds, not modular etc
Even though it has a wide range, I don't find the original hits the sound design spot I'm looking for, but YMMV etc :)

@kv331audio_bulent, you mentioned that SM2 is able to load SM player presets. And yes, I can find these items in SM2 under the KV331 Audio shop menu.
The question is whether I can edit these SM Player presets in more depth in SM2 or I can adjust only the same parameters like in SM player?

Yes sure you can edit the presets in depth, all these presets are made with the desktop plugin and now we released the plugin on iOS

It would be a real bummer if they can’t be edited… the only upside would be that they all reside in one app…

    😢

They can be edited, no worries

took me ages to crash it (I guess vector OSC wasn't meant for samples 😁)

No they are supposed to work with samples as well. did you switch from wavetable to vector ?

Yes, Indeed vector does work with samples, I can't reproduce the crash so I'm guessing that was incidental. I found the crash log, tried to forward it though your contact form but got a 404, so not sure how to get it to you if that's helpful.

Seems Restore IAPs function does not work :(
I bought the desktop preset upgrade, then I bought the Synthmaster expansions bundle as well, but it has downloaded only 18 packs instead of 32 and I couldn’t make it complete.
Finally I deleted and reinstalled the SM2 app and tried to restore the IAPs, but nothing happens. None of the IAPs have been restored.
    @kv331audio_bulent , @lbiyikoglu any idea?

Update: problem solved. Restoring IAPs can be done from the main(?) menu. The other way (browse/KV331 audio shop/Restore IAPs) does not work.

  • This will be my next synth purchase. I love everything about the beta! Excellent sounding presets and intuitive controls. Thank you @kv331audio_bulent @kv331audio

    Something seriously wrong with bundle…..

SynthMaster One price is currently $14.99
SynthMaster 2 price is currently $14.99
SynthMaster 1+2 Bundle price is currently $24.99 -> $5 less than sum of individual products

(there might be additional taxes based on your country)

So, what is wrong with the bundle ?

When you "Complete My Bundle", you'd have to pay $24.99 - (What you paid for SynthMaster One)

In the US store it shows the regular price as $29.98 for the bundle, not $24.99.

For me the bundle (I already own Synthmaster One) is $15.00, but the price for Synthmaster 2 is shown as $14.99.

Is the bundle price wrong in the US store?

Did you get synthmaster one when it was free at the start of the pandemic? Or did you get it on sale at some point? That’s what the price seems to reflect. I got synthmaster one free, so I haven’t checked the App Store yet but I’d imagine my bundle would be full price.

Hey all…. I searched and searched, but could not find an answer…. Is there a way to midi map or midi learn anything to toggle through the presets?? There are so many that it would be awesome to have my midi controller just click click click through them!

That is not possible yet. What kind of midi controller do you have?

I have multiple. I have Launchpad control XL, a novation, nanokey Studio.

What about midi program change? Set up your midi controller to send pgm chg or trigger mozaic script that sends program change message to Synthmaster?

Like most other people I just can’t remember. I think I’ve had it longer than that, but can’t be sure. No worries though as I just bought it at the sale price as that’s less than the bundle price.

Think I will grab both desktop and iOS..

    Congrats..

    Such great sounds…

Be warned that the desktop version does not work on M1 based setups. I was bummed after I bought it to use on my Macbook Air M1 setup.

  • I own Synthmaster One (iPad) and in the Australian store the bundle is $33 yet the standalone SM2 is $22.99? It recognises that I own SM1 as it asks if I want to complete my bundle.

  • Just for the record, my 'complete your bundle' price was $10 (US).

I think know what you mean.

Although I can see SM's power, and I have SM2 on desktop and SM1 on iOS, but don't use them much. I think it's mostly because the presets seem mostly geared towards much busier styles of electronica e.g. Trance, than I create myself.

Sure the presets can be edited and so on, but I tend to work more with synths which demonstrate right out of the box that the synth is capable of the kinds of sounds I need i.e. if the presets inspire me to learn to use it to create my own sounds.

But this isn't to cast any shade on SM1/2 it's just a style thing and I hope it does very well.

Overall I find them very similar. To be honest I don’t think I’ll use Synthmaster One anymore, so will probably delete it.

Hi @kv331audio_bulent will Synthmaster 2 be updated to be Universal? (Work on iPhone too?)

I’ve already bought it & am looking forward to exploring..Thanks for releasing a beast of a synth! 👍🎧🚀🎛🌈

Well hopefuly at some point we'll finish up on the iPhone layouts as well. Would probably happen after we finish our work on SynthMaster 3 desktop and then start our work on SynthMaster 3 iOS. (Yes we will release SynthMaster 3 as an iOS app as well, hopefuly debuting at NAMM Show 2023)

    Excellent!

Yeah, another iPhone-only user here. I’ll be waiting for that release!

the thread title really needs be changed - the app isn’t actually for iOS currently.. 😃

  • I know it says you can use SM1 presets with SM2 and vice versa? Is this true? And if so how do you do that, there are folders in my iCloud Drive for both apps but the folders both contain more folders which are all empty. Same question for SMPlayer as well, is there a way i can use the bought presets on SM2 now? If so how?

  • Is anyone else having trouble turning off the arpeg/seq in the AU but not the standalone?

If I turn off the arpeg/seq keyboard input stops working in the AU. In the standalone, turning off the arpegg behaves as I'd expect.

I thought Bulent mentioned earlier in the thread that SM2 won’t import SM1 presets but this was on the feature list for SM3 targeted for ~18 months time?

(As I picked up SM1 when free a year ago I’m totally down with the bundle providing a discount for those who purchased as higher prices!)

Yeahhh...same here + if I turn it on again the note freezes and I have to restart the app.
I didn’t get the arp running in an init. Preset....is that working for you?
