Can’t wait til they are ready. Out of interest, in note editor will you be able to choose if it is palm muted or a power chord as well? Btw, If you need any beta testers @jon_bell i am more than happy to help out.

Also, another small request, (another one, I know!) would it be possible to reorder the saved riffs? I have quite a few and they are getting harder to organise!

It will have the option of manually selecting normal, palm muted, normal powerchord, palm muted powerchord, vibrato, small bend and big bend. You will also be able to change the pitch from a low F# (8 string guitar lowest note) to a high E (same note as the open high E in standard tuning).

Unfortunately there aren't any tempo options in Jazz Solo Creator. It was an app I made a long time ago now and it has very limited options compared to Riffler.

Yea, I have riffler too, since release, huge fan. if you recall I asked you about midi out and a few other things and you said it wouldn’t happen with Jazz Solo Creator, which is cool. I still like the app a lot, especially for $.99 and the ability to load your own chords, but to me it’s just missing one crucial thing and that’s tempo. Obviously it would be nice to have some other advanced features, but It sounds like riffler is the successor so to speak. if there’s any chance you could add a tempo setting to JSC, it would be greatly appreciated. Even if it’s a $.99 IAP I’d definitely buy it. Just to slow it to down for playing along. Thanks.

PS. Great to here your AU progress with Riffler. It was one of my personal 2021 apps of the year. I can’t wait to use the midi out. Either virtual midi or Au midi.

While I have ya, in Riffler, I might have mentioned this before, but can’t remember… it would be awesome to send or export 2 separate channels of midi. Midi Channel 1 the riff, Midi Channel 2 the backing chords. That way you can easily have the riff going and have a pad or something playing the chords underneath. Cheers.

The audio files in JSC are hard coded to set tempos so it wouldn't be possible to add tempo changes. The next app I'm planning to release (will be quite a long time though!) will be a solo creator in a similar style to Riffler. So lots of different options, different genres (jazz, rock, blues, etc.) and different tones. I did a little bit of preliminary work on it last year and I've come up with a new system to render the audio that gives a really realistic sound. Riffler is taking 100% of my time at the moment so it's definitely on the back burner for now though.

I terms of the 2nd channel. I'm working on a song mode that lets you piece together lots of riffs into a song. There will be an option here to stack several riffs to play at the same time. So you could have one track playing powerchords through a progression with a second guitar playing a riff over the top. You could then map the powerchords channel to a pad patch on a synth.

One last thing, with the upcoming Au, are you leaning toward using it as an instrument, audio, or as a AU midi fx, or both? Both would be ideal. That way you can use either the audio, or send the midi out to something else.

It will have the option to output audio and midi. It will likely be an instrument rather than an insert effect but I'm still experimenting to find the best solution.

A quick update on the AUv3 version. I've got the basic app running in AUM but it is still lacking a UI and lots of features. Whilst I'm adding the UI I'm going to use this opportunity to update the tablature output to allow for editable notes.

Here's a screenshot of where I am at the moment:

Oh, boy. This is what we've been waiting for.

And, you know being able to access all of those samples in the app as a Audio Unit musical instrument would be a huge benefit also. Hope this will be possible.

  • That's great news!

Yeah, it will have the standard audio output from the app synced to the host along with the midi output.

    Fantastic!

  • Version 2 is coming soon but it will delete your saved riffs' filenames (not the actual files). Export all your riffs as a .riffbook to safely backup your files and filenames.

    Here's a bit of info:

  • This is genuinely exciting news - love the fact that the AUv3 is coming soon, but also PC version too - double great!

"I see you shiver with anticipation" :)

  • Sounds like an amazing update. Remember that a tip jar iap to support the dev is all the rage atm.

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • That's not good, I'll get a fix uploaded before the big update is available.

I've sent you a message so I can track down the bug.

I have the App Store version and wanted to make sure that I will not loose my files.

But when trying to export all as one file, the option get's highlighted but then the App totally freezes:

  • @tja What IOS version/ iPad are you on ? I managed to export to RIFFBOOK on my iPad 10.5 IOS 14.8.1
Like in the video, after pressing the export menu point a file selector opened and allowed to specify the export filename and destionation folder.

  • I’m so stoked to have Riffler as an AUV3. It’s one of my favorite apps on the store so this is huge.

  • Awesome thanks @jon_bell cant wait

  • This is incredible news! As much as I want to keep Riffler my little secret I always list it in the apps I use on my videos and tell people how awesome it is. AU support will make this even more indispensable. Every update has been more than I expected. Can't wait to see this new version!

  • Haven’t seen the news regarding AUv3 up until now! What can I say more? I’m getting ready to have my mind blown away once more by this marvel of an app. Thank you Mr. Bell! ❤️

  • Just noticed this on Riffler update

    @jon_bell

Is this a second app, or the OG Riffler version 2.0

  • Just a (very big) free update for Riffler. It's a free update, so no need to purchase a new app or any IAPs. I may finally a tip jar though.

Version number will be 2.0 once it's released.

    What's the ETA @jon_bell ?

  • I was really hoping to have it finished this month but I think going to miss my self-imposed deadline. Hopefully should be ready sometime in July.
